I think this strengthens Apple’s case. It shows that Spotify is struggling simply because they are lazy. Not because Big Bad Apple is holding them back. Spotify holds themselves back all on their own.
Nah, I think that spotify waits for the integration of airplay 2, because it brings no benefit to spotify. Also, my opinion why spotify does not integrate their service to homepods is, that a lot of spotify users would maybe buy one but spotify is in argue with apple and they dont want to support apple with their homepod sales.
It is just normal acting by big companies

I still don't know why any iPhone people have Spotify over Apple Music
I’ll tell you why.

Because when they launched it they’d already been doing that thing where your personal music library quasi-synced to the iTunes music store and then Apple Music ALSO connected to your personal music in a way that I didn’t fully understand and THEN I read articles about tech writers having trouble with the whole thing and losing their personal music library. I decided it was best to avoid the whole thing and get Spotify instead.

So I had Spotify for streaming and the music app for my old music library from college, and all was fine. But eventually I started streaming more and more and now I don’t even sync my old library to my phone any more. I don’t care about that now, but I’ve used Spotify for years and I’m used to it and I have no incentive to switch.

Basically, if Apple had introduced Apple Music as its own separate thing I’d probably be using it to this day. But, no, they tried to get clever and merge it with a thing I wanted to protect and so I never tried it.

And now it’s too late - Spotify has sucked up some podcasts my wife loves and so I don’t see us switching anytime in the near future.

Because it's a thousand times better, that's why. The interface is great, the playlist capability is great, device compatibility is great, and once they release their lossless platform it's going to be the platform to beat.

Apple's disappointing "lossless" rollout didn't even include the capability to use it on whatever device you want. I can't download the lossless files to my iPhone, even with a Match subscription. They continue to largely ignore the Windows platform and if you don't want to use the laggy web interface to Music, you're forced to use what is essentially a two-year-old version of iTunes that was buggy even two years ago, and they seem to have no plans to update it.

I understand they're ultimately in the business of selling Macs and i-devices, but they're also selling a service that is supposedly "Windows compatible" and it largely sucks on the platform.

I don´t know if your issue is with the function "Autoplay" which Spotify says "Enjoy nonstop music. We´ll play you similar songs when your music ends". But this can be turned off.
I fixed auto play, but that’s not the problem. It’s the “we added” function. Just a simple google search reveals all the frustrations with it.

Music choice.

Only 70% of my playlists are available on AM

Crate digging on Spotify is a whole lot easier as their algorithm does a far better job of finding related albums and artists than AM

Different strokes for different folks. Choice is a good thing!

I have tried Apple Music a few times and I just could not warm up to it.

Also, why would Apple bother with an Android player? Why would Android users have Apple Music over Google Play Music?

So, they whined like little babies to whomever listened then when Apple provides them with the tools they don't use them. Im sure that is the definition of a douchebag.

To be fair, it's probably definition "2. informal", but yeah that seems about as close to canonical as I can imagine.

1. It’s better
2. It has more songs
3. It has much better recommendations and radios
4. Apple, being Apple, provides mediocre services and support outside the US and some countries in Europe ( mediocre localization, no localize customer service - English only, much smaller library in Apple Music due to incomplete international licenses, etc…)

In my country, Spotify heavily invested in localization, publicly modifying their recommendation algorithm to to adjust local opinion and preferences.
That’s for making a list, people keep saying it’s better without a reason why. But 1. Isn’t part of the list, it’s the title of the list.

A lot of people prefer it because it’s been around longer and it has better localization/support in some markets like in Europe which unfortunately is still an area where Apple falls short (and not just Apple Music). Here in the US, Apple Music is pretty good, but when you cross the Atlantic, Spotify is often a better option. Maybe in 5-10 years, the situation will be different?

company has paused the efforts "for now" due to "audio driver compatibility issues." The representative described AirPlay 2 support as a "bigger project that we won't be able to complete in the foreseeable future."
That is actually a blatant lie on part of Spotify’s part.

Real reason is simple: unless Apple makes App Store more fair under Spotify’s terms, they have suspended implementation of new iOS features into the Spotify app as protest.

This includes adding native support for HomePod. Apple in fact reached out to Spotify about adding native support before launch of HomePod mini, but Spotify never responded.

That is according to rumor from industry source.

in fact, they may pull nuclear and discontinue iOS app altogether and encourage users to get an Android phone. Hell, there is far fetched rumor that they are in fact making their own Android phone.

either way, Spotify is one being a !€£% here would not be surprised if US government steps in and accuse Spotify of running a cartel, because Apple’s terms are very fair and square.

... better localization/support in some markets like in Europe which unfortunately is still an area where Apple falls short (and not just Apple Music)....

This is one of my biggest problems with Apple at the moment. Great features get announced in every iOS / macOS upgrade but it can take years before they reach Europe. Heck, even the QuickPath keyboard will only be introduced in iOS 15 for the Dutch language while literally every €100 Android phone has had that for a long long time. Come on Apple, get your international act together.

As a Spotify user, this is very irritating - and I don't even have any use for Airplay 2 right now. Just say you don't want to do it. Don't pretend that you, a multibillion-dollar corporation, the largest streaming music service on Earth - are having "driver issues" when teeny tiny apps do not. It's *********.

Can anyone explain to me what Airplay 2 will do for Spotify? I already can airplay music to two separate Sonos systems around my apartment. Being able to control the volume of the speakers individually as well.

It will remove the 2 second delay when you pause, rewind, or fast forward when you use Spotify to sono systems.
