Sprint iPhone Pre-Order Status Thread

I know a lot of 64gig people like me are in the same boat, waiting with no tracking number. I'm especially pissed because I ordered about 1hr after preorder opening, due to me trying for 1hr to go with Apple, wouldn't work.. and just went with Sprint.

Spoke with Order Support today to figure out why everyone in 16gb and 32gb orders have got tracking info, and the phone on the way to their destinations.. I was told that Sprint has not received the shipment from Apple for the 64gig phones. And has assured me that I will get one on the 14th.

So a "shiny new iPhone is "waiting" for me at the warehouse" is a bunch of bull-corn.
 
Thats sucks - at 4am i was debating whether to get 2 32gbs or 64's and at the last second went with 64m big mistake i guess

Scheduled for Wednesday!

I really hope it's true. Might have to bribe the UPS guy to give it to me before Friday though.

In order to get all of those phones to homes across the globe in a cost effective manner is no easy task. Warehouses are used around the globe and orders are usually run in the warehouse in waves. (yes we actually call them waves)

A wave groups orders in some type of logical order....for example warehouse location or by shipping type (overnight, ground..etc.)

In this case Im gonna say they are waving by pre-sort and SKU. The pre-sort ensures compliance with UPS/FedEx for cost effective shipping. Example...you would want to pick all of your iphone 4s 16GB going to zips that share hub/center. This way you have a pallet that can ship on the truck/plane/rail together and is sorted/counted/billed as 1 handling unit.

When that pallet arrives at a center/hub it can be effeciently sorted to the center and its feeder hubs at a much more reduced cost AND much greater effeciency. Can you imagine if they picked orders by when they were placed and all million iphones had to be sorted by the local centers/hubs for UPS/FedEx??? WOW!!!! we would never get our iphones.

I tried to cut out all of the logistical jargon and I tried to explain it so that all of you can rest assure that your orders will be picked and shipped!!

No I don't work for Sprint,ATT,Verizon, or Tmobile. Just work in logistics.:D:D

This has been the best post to alleviate and inform all of us impatient soon to be iPhone 4S owners. Thank you so much for at least letting us know exactly how tracking numbers are assigned and why some people got their info before others.

Truly the best and informative post I've seen in this whole thread!
 
I just recieved a tracking number for a 32G Black iPhone, I ordered at 4am est on Fri. Keep your head up guys, they will come.
 
FINALLY!!!!! I have a tracking number for my order. Info for my order, if it'll help anyone.

Ordered roughly around 7AM EST through sprint.com on 10/7/11. I ordered a white 32GB iPhone 4S. I live in West Palm Beach, Florida and I got my "We've processed your order" email at 9:40PM on October 10, 2011.

After all day of checking and checking and checking, the info came to me instead of me trying to hunt it down. Good luck to all of you!
 
I'm like all of you awaiting my new iPhone 4s. I thought that if I explained the whole logistics/shipping process people would stop stressing over when they ordered...... Its not when you ordered,,, but its more about where you live.:)

Much cheaper to pre-sort. I'm willing to bet that all of the carriers are required to pre-sort. There could be no way that all of those iphones PLUS the regular everyday freight could move if they did not pre-sort.

You did help - but your explanation doesn't explain why not one 64gb has been confimed on here yet as being shipped, surely not all the 64gb orders are at the same geographic location...

I received my tracking number and now my iPhone 4s shows up on my account new phone number assigned and all for the new line. Has anyone learned if they are really coming from china cause I doubt sprint is activating new lines at foxconn

You'll be fine. I ordered 3 16gb (black) at ~4:45 AM EST, had to call them in the morning to answer some security questions and verify my order, which I did around 8:15am.

Still no tracking number, but it shows as being processed, blah blah. It'll all happen when it happens and most people will get their phone on Friday. A lucky few will get them Thursday (and possibly a smaller number will get them Wednesday, but I wouldn't trust the scheduled delivery date that much), and an unlucky few will get them on Saturday.

From what I can decipher from people's orders, only orders placed through Apple are coming from China. Not 100% sure on that though.
 
I've read every post here throughout the day. Early this afternoon I found a tracking number for my 3 white iPhones on the order page. It still does not have a tracking number for my black iPhone. All 4 are 16gb.
 
I ordered my iPhone (16GB White Sprint) from Apple.com. As of right now, it is "Preparing for Shipment". I ordered the phone at about 12 noon Eastern time on the 7th. Hopefully I will get a shipping confirmation soon!
 
I ordered two 16 gb, one white, and one black at 3 am on friday and my order was stuck on "submitted" for two days, thanks to Iphone4sara for suggesting calling sprint about it. I called 4 times and now I have tracking numbers for both phones. I have a feeling that by calling I helped speed it up and call attention to the issue. The sprint rep did say that due to so many orders being submitted at one time, they can sometimes get stuck, and the system would notice the issue and automatically fix it. Fingers crossed I get the phones early

Correct. Only Apple orders are coming from China. Sprint orders are coming from Kentucky, is what I was told.
 
Guess who got their tracking order? This guy. I am guessing my iPhone is in America, or they would have shipped it already.


If you didn't get your tracking # yet, or just got it recently but did not get any info on shipping, chances are your iPhone was processed by two guys named Bob in Kentucky. (Top Gear reference for those who are awesome enough to watch it)

Thank you that's good to know hopefully all goes as planned and my very first iPhone and I can get to know each better :D

Ah I see. Same here. I'm reallyyy wondering if this is true though? Sprint told me it WAS possible that the package could get here Wednesday, and UPS told me themselves on the phone that delivery was scheduled for Wednesday...Hmm...
 
I ordered the 16GB black iPhone 4s on Friday at 7:30AM. I have still not received any information. I live in Indianapolis, which is not too far from Kentucky. I wonder if being so close is what's causing the hold up. It's probably not as big of a priority seeing as it could ship on Thursday and still make it to my doorstep by Friday. All i know is I'm impatient and I just want closure! :D

This has consumed me. :)

Did they ask you a series of multiple choice questions after they asked you to give them your full SSN? Sprint did that to me.

NW indiana here, just got my tracking number for both 16gb white and black iphones (ordered 6am central on 7th)

but yeah indy is still quicker
