Mine originally said it had to be manually entered, then on Saturday they emailed me giving me a new order number ("In order to complete your request it was necessary to assign a new order number.")

The new number now just says Your order is being processed. If you have any questions, please contact a representative at your original point of purchase.

It does say it was updated as of 10/10, so guessing something is happening.

Received the same email Sun morning. Order was cancelled then reassigned a new order number. New status shows just that the order is processing. I ordered a 64GB model which still shows as being able to preorder for the 14th, so I would assume that the order number cancel/change won't affect my getting it on the 14th/15th.

Only other thing of interest is that I'm porting my number from AT&T(new account with Sprint). That second email stated that the porting had been submitted and that the number would be ported by the end of Oct. My assumption is that it is the window for the porting to be completed in. I hope that the porting of numbers doesn't back up my order.
 
Waddup guys....made the jump to Sprint and I am stoked, the only thing keeping with AT&T was the iPhone.
I still dont have a tracking number for my phone, but im sure i will get it Friday.
Now i just gotta figure out how to get out of my at&t contract......

HA HA yea I jumped ship as well..now i gotta pay an etf fee..unless I can get out of it
 
Just ordered my 32GB in White. Oder went smoothly. They are still saying the 14th or 15th as delivery. I've waited almost 5 years for this day. Finally an iPhone :)

My credit card has been charged so looks like I'm good to go.

Man it better be all I expect it to be :)

I ordered the iPhone 4S for my wife through the Apple webpage (first iPhone for her, she is right now on T-Mobile) - the info for porting the number on the apple webpage said something like: The transfere of the number will be initiated once you activate your new iPhone and will take up to three days to complete. (though I ordered an AT&T phone, but the info for transferring should be basically the same for sprint)
 
I placed two orders through sprint.com around 5:00 AM on Friday, and neither have tracking information yet. It is frustrating because I was forced to ship them to my parents' house, but I need one shipped to my house and one to my brother's. I called order support and they said they can't change the shipping information until there's a tracking number... the wait is making me anxious, because if mine gets shipped to Virginia (I live in Philadelphia) who knows how long it will take for someone to ship it up here for me.

Moving from ATT to Sprint on two phones; one black/64GB 4S, one white 64GB 4S.

One number being ported, one new number.

Ordered two 64GB iPhone 4S at noon CDT on Friday 07-Oct-2011

On Friday 07-Oct-2011 @ 13:23:51 CDT I received the email stating "You have a new shared plan"

The message said: "We've placed your order, and we've started processing. Your order number is: xx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxx" .... check your order status at ...

On 08-Oct-2011 at 14:08:15 I received email: "EID_Welome_Notification" which contained instructions on how to register for the email bill delivery service option.

On 10-Oct-2011 at 06:41:00 I checked status at www.sprint.com/myorder and at this time, the status message has not changed, no tracking number yet. The message is :

"Thanks for pre-ordering. A shiny new iPhone is waiting for you in our warehouse. Excluding extreme circumstances, you will have your device Friday, Oct. 14 or Saturday, Oct. 15. During the pre-order period, we will send you a shipping email and tracking number. Your tracking number may not be updated until Oct. 14. Questions? Visit sprint.com/preorder."

It shows this same status for both iPhone 4S models.
 
Tracking Number

I was able to "Track by Reference" on the UPS site and get my tracking number. Use your Sprint account number as the reference.
 
Not working for me....sprint account number is 9 numbers right??

Yes, 9 numbers. I had tried every phone number I could think of, in every possible format, with no luck. The account number finally worked for me. Essentially, I was just able to get my tracking number as there is no progress listed.
 
No luck tracking by phone or account number. Ordered on friday 5:30 AM PST, Black 16gb 4S. Still have the shiny new iphone waiting in warehouse message when tracking through www.sprint.com/myorder.
 
White 32. Ordered it 3:50AM CT on Friday. I got an e-mail last night (Sunday, 6:40PM CT) with my UPS tracking number. Here's the new status on my Sprint "Order Status" page:

Click on the shipping tracking number to track the progress of your order. It make take 24 hours for your tracking number to be active. Please allow 2-5 days for delivery. I'm in the same boat as most of the posters in the thread -- just playing the waiting game for the tracking #.

I'm pretty happy that Sprint was able to start the process of provisioning (is that what the cool telcos call it nowadays) my AT&T numbers over to our new Sprint iPhone 4Ss. Hopefully it's as easy as calling Sprint to activate and we can call AT&T to cancel.

So I have a question.

We know that Apple has blackout days for vacation around the day of a new product launch.
And I heard that Sprint recently did the same.

Does UPS and FedEx officially blackout vaction days around the day 1 million iPhone are to be delivered?
 
My Sprint.com 16GB White order status page just updated to give me a tracking number this morning, but this is my order status:

I called up sprint because I couldn't access the sprint website with my username/password (same situation as you, jumped from AT&T as a new customer). The lady said I won't be able to login until the port is complete which is estimated to be end of Oct. They said just call back when the phone has been received and they can activate then and I'll have access to logon. I hope the port doesn't take that long.
