Received my 2 phones yesterday and activation was a breeze.
I am happily using my new hardware. Sprint made this a very easy process from start to finish.
Same here. Took all of about 30 seconds for my phones to activate and start using. Then again, I'm a new customer to Sprint. Seems like people trying to port are having the issues.
And current customers too, my cousin was on the phone , mostly waiting cause the phone wouldn't activate, everything good here loving the camera
Hmmm...Maybe it isn't over actually, PezaSied, did you catch the last article on macruors front page https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/15/off-contract-att-iphone-4ss-already-come-unlocked/. They are claiming that sprint iPhones are sim unlocked, at least at this moment. If you get a chance let me know if it works for you now too. ThanksPut in my ATT Sim Card into my Sprint phone, it restarted, flashed a thing saying that activation is required, then this popped up.

Only if you pay full price for it.
The way they say it does make it sound like all Sprint phones are GSM unlocked, and the AT&T phones are GSM unlocked only if you pay full price.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, that makes sense, I can see why there is so much confusion now.Sprint iPhones are only unlocked before you activate them with your Sprint service.
It worked with my AT&T sim before I cancelled the service. But after activating with Sprint, the iPhone automatically gets locked to Sprint. You would have to get it unlocked by Sprint in the near future.
I called Sprint asking if they will unlock the iPhone for me now and their international department had no idea. I had to explain to them how their iPhone was.

Did any of you buy Applecare+ with your phone through Sprint? If you did, did you receive a boxed Applecare product or check your warranty coverage?
I ended up buying Applecare+ with mine, and the two years of coverage doesn't show on the apple website. I tried calling Sprint, and they've been absolutely useless.
can I get an iPhone replacement through an Apple store or do I have to go through Sprint?
I ordered it and just checked to see if it was billed to me. It was. Never came in the box though, so I can not activate it. The package slip stated that it was 'backordered'. So I will try Sprint tomorrow, and probably Apple.
EDIT: I decided to check on it today instead of tomorrow. Like Unibody said, Sprint was pretty much useless. The representative had no idea what I was talking about. She said she saw the charge for it but that was it. She gave me Apple's number to talk to them because she had no answer. Then she had the audacity to tell me to say in the coming survey about her service that she resolved all issues. I just laughed at her.
I am currently on the phone with applecare representatives (1-800-275-2273) and submitted a proof of purchase online. Go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do?newid=Y. There you can submit your receipt from Sprint showing that Applecare+ was paid for. That's as far as I have gotten....says it will take an additional 24-48 hours.

Besides what has been said before, the Sim that he was able to get working was a Canadian SIM card, not one from the US.
