My porting process is taking forever. It is in the process of porting by customer service said it can take up to 72 hours. So while it is in the process, I can't activate the phone until it is complete. This sucks.

Received my 2 phones yesterday and activation was a breeze.

I am happily using my new hardware. Sprint made this a very easy process from start to finish.

Same here. Took all of about 30 seconds for my phones to activate and start using. Then again, I'm a new customer to Sprint. Seems like people trying to port are having the issues.

And current customers too, my cousin was on the phone , mostly waiting cause the phone wouldn't activate, everything good here loving the camera

UPS showed up at 7:30pm last night (!), which is better than showing up during the day when I was at work, and missing me.

I activated the phone this morning, and porting my number over from AT&T took no more than 5 minutes. Impressive.

Now we'll see if Sprint cuts the mustard as a carrier for me. The change in AT&T's texting plans made me jump. $20 unlimited, or 20c per? No more $5/200 msg option? See ya, you jackwagons. I'm a bit leery of Sprint's slower 3G speeds, but that's not a big concern. Yet. Haven't really done much with it yet.

Yeah, I had a bunch of issues too. It took me nearly two hours to get my phones activated as a current customer. The online activation system didn't work at all, and chat system was as slow as Christmas. I need to figure out who to email about that, and see if I can't get the activation fee waived. $36 for 2 hours of me jumping through hoops? It's a tad bit silly, IMO.

Apple.com order to Sprint NIGHTMARE

I was lucky enough to get my new 4s at 9:30 yesterday. As of now it is still a brick. When I went past the wi-fi set up as directed by Sprint I got to this is your number. My number is a 646 area code, this was a 469 number. I was on the phone with Sprint and they tried for an hour. The IME number would not validate to my account with my billing zip and address. Finally Sprint said since you ordered from Apple.com they have to correct this.

Half hour hold, and a 45 minute conversation and the nice Apple tech says et me get a level 2 tech. Then she has me on hold as they are all busy, yada yada for a half hour and she says her computer is freaking out, I will call you back. I wait a half hour, relax, no call. So I try Sprint again and ask for a supervisor, they work with me for an hour and a half, try this try that. Cant get to home page to try a reset, they are stumped, finally please call Apple again.

Now I call Apple, this tech says she has dealt with this before, she can help. After 30 minutes she says I was wrong, I thought i had this but it is a different issue. She actually gets a level two tech who work's with me for 90 minutes trying this and that on my end and his, still cant get to home screen or activation, and get engineering involved. Engineering says it is related to Sprint and the new carrier and rules and a server issue they will open a trouble ticket and engineering will work on servers, but they are swamped and at best it will be Saturday morning, at worst Monday morning.

I call Apple's award winning service and complain and ask if I can get a replacement in a store since the error was on their end. They say nope, wait for the trouble ticket to work it's way out, or retur the phone and wait for them to reship which is weeks away since everything was presold and sent to stores. Thanks award winning Apple Service.

I get a call back from level two tech at 7:30 Eastern and says no joy so far, hopefully Saturday.

Saturday comes I went to a Sprint store and sat their for 2 hours while 3 different reps and three techs they called all struck out. Apple has to fix it.

I called Apple Tech 2 and he says sorry no movement on ticket but the engineering section will be working all weekend on issues hopefully they fix my situation No I have had my lovely door stop for 36.5 hours and wasted about 15 hours trying to turn a brick into magic. I am going to try an Apple Store tomorrow but not feeling lucky at all so far. Frustration and despair are the rule. First IPhone attempt is a flaming disaster so far. All because some tech somewhere probably put the wrong phone in the wrong shipping box.

To the Moderators:
Thanks for removing the post by Melina1, claiming his lucky cousin who lived in the U.S. got free iPhone "sample" and included that ridiculous link, I unfortunately saw it in my email but I'm glad to see y'all deleted it, so thanks. Ban that FuCher

Put in my ATT Sim Card into my Sprint phone, it restarted, flashed a thing saying that activation is required, then this popped up.

Hmmm...Maybe it isn't over actually, PezaSied, did you catch the last article on macruors front page https://www.macrumors.com/2011/10/15/off-contract-att-iphone-4ss-already-come-unlocked/. They are claiming that sprint iPhones are sim unlocked, at least at this moment. If you get a chance let me know if it works for you now too. Thanks

The way they say it does make it sound like all Sprint phones are GSM unlocked, and the AT&T phones are GSM unlocked only if you pay full price.

Sprint iPhones are only unlocked before you activate them with your Sprint service.

It worked with my AT&T sim before I cancelled the service. But after activating with Sprint, the iPhone automatically gets locked to Sprint. You would have to get it unlocked by Sprint in the near future.

I called Sprint asking if they will unlock the iPhone for me now and their international department had no idea. I had to explain to them how their iPhone was.

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience, that makes sense, I can see why there is so much confusion now.

No problem. Also if you have voice roaming on and you're in a dead zone where Sprint can't be reached, the iPhone will automatically switch to Verizon (for the time being).

Did any of you buy Applecare+ with your phone through Sprint? If you did, did you receive a boxed Applecare product or check your warranty coverage?

I ended up buying Applecare+ with mine, and the two years of coverage doesn't show on the apple website. I tried calling Sprint, and they've been absolutely useless.

I ordered it and just checked to see if it was billed to me. It was. Never came in the box though, so I can not activate it. The package slip stated that it was 'backordered'. So I will try Sprint tomorrow, and probably Apple.

EDIT: I decided to check on it today instead of tomorrow. Like Unibody said, Sprint was pretty much useless. The representative had no idea what I was talking about. She said she saw the charge for it but that was it. She gave me Apple's number to talk to them because she had no answer. Then she had the audacity to tell me to say in the coming survey about her service that she resolved all issues. I just laughed at her.
I am currently on the phone with applecare representatives (1-800-275-2273) and submitted a proof of purchase online. Go to https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do?newid=Y. There you can submit your receipt from Sprint showing that Applecare+ was paid for. That's as far as I have gotten....says it will take an additional 24-48 hours.

I preordered the first day and STILL haven't gotten it. Since they came by at 230 pm and I work M-F 830 to 5, I mean I guess I'm pretty much screwed. UPS talks a big game about UPS My Choice but the choices are mysteriously cut down when you go to try and change delivery.

And now they'll deliver at the same time tomorrow and AGAIN I won't be there. If I would've known that UPS had these strict working hours and they made it this difficult to get a package, then I would've just gotten in line with everyone else.

can I get an iPhone replacement through an Apple store or do I have to go through Sprint?

I think it depends on where you ordered it. I needed a replacement (I was sent the wrong phone). Since it was ordered through Sprint, the replacement had to come through Sprint (even thought the error was probably Apple's). Something thing to with inventory issues.

I'm thinking this is happening to every sprint user who ordered applecare. I noticed the same thing. When I called sprint I got a very nice representative who put me on hold to speak to his supervisor. He basically let me know that they can't do anything on their end because apple is the one who provides the service and are the ones dictating it on all the carriers.

He gave me the number and I called but was on hold for 40 minutes. Eventually I gave in and submitted a scanned copy of my order invoice that arrived in my box with the iphone and sent an email to apple. It's been 2 days and nothing yet. Hopefully it'll get resolved.

sprint.com currently shows iPhone 4S 16/32gb out of stock. anyone have any insight as to when they will get more? :(
