Ok that makes sense, just didn't know the carriers weren't allowed to have their shipments go through the same process as phones shipped directly from apple. I just saw that some people were able to do it and wanted to know if it was an option for me as well. Guess I have to hope UPS leaves the phones at my door or comes when my wife gets home from work.
Our phones have been in the US warehouses for carriers for about a week..if there were no stipulations UPS could have delivered our phones on Monday for a lot of us. That's why Sprint knew what they could fill and when they could estimate pre orders to be shipped they knew exactly how much stock apple sent them.

For everyone asking about having UPS hold your order for pickup:

That is not an option for launch day phones. Apple has very specific requirements for the carriers as to how these shipments are handled. UPS will be delivering it to your address, period.

If you can't be home, then you will miss the delivery and at that point will have the option for other delivery options, including pickup. It doesn't matter if you have MyChoice or not.
Thank you

Those phones are being shipped from China direct from apple likely a different set of rules being applied. Look at the origin scan.

Yes, exactly this. Phones shipped directly from Apple even allow you to pre-sign for delivery through the Apple site. Totally different set of rules. Carriers are a whole other story... most of them don't even let you ship new phones to any address other than the one on your bill.

Been trying to tell people this

Sprint must be the exception because my phone is being delivered to my workplace.

My phone is coming to my work address where someone will be able to sign, not my bill to, same as the last phone I ordered from Sprint. So, no they don't always have to ship to the billing address.

Yeah, people are just impatient or come up with insane reasons why they need to contact UPS/Sprint/etc to try and get their phones just hours earlier. Patience people. lol.

I said most carriers anecdotally.. I'm new to Sprint so not sure the process there, but with Verizon they wouldn't ship anything anywhere except the address on my bill.

Used to work for AT&T and customers were definitely allowed to ship their item to another location, and my buddy at T-Mobile can as well. So not most. Just Verizon.

Eh, I remember it differently since I've been on AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile, but perhaps I am wrong.

Apple dosent allow packages to be held at any Facility on Preorder/releases they actually sign an agreement with every shipping company regarding this... So just be home
Not true I’ve def picked up my 6 plus or 6s plus from customer care center on launch day

Or perhaps people just want to make sure they don’t miss the delivery?

Do you see that option, here, today, with your shipment?

I get that but like, I took the day off tomorrow weeks ago to be home for delivery. Pretty easy for most to do the same and then there isn't this general hysteria over pickups, delivery times, etc.

And I get that, as I work from home so it is a non-issue for me. You shouldn’t assume it is “pretty easy” for anyone to take a day off to wait around for a delivery. Everyone doesn’t do whatever it is you do for a living. Pretty simple to ignore the posts or this thread entirely.

I mean, we're buying the most expensive iPhone ever made... so logic dictates that you'd have a job that you'd be able to take a day off from with ample notice.

And again, your “logic” is an ass-umption. Beyond someone having the ability to do so, some simply may not see the justification.

Maybe my buddy who burned all his PTO caring for his terminally ill mother should take an unpaid day from his six-figure gig to wait around on the most expensive iPhone ever made.

As a 25 year old that also works completely from home let me tell you the look on people's faces when I tell them how much I make sitting in my boxers is priceless. I will be sitting here patiently waiting for my iPhone X. :)

Sorry but taking a day off of work to sit at home and wait for UPS to deliver a phone is a joke to me. If you want to do so, and are able to do so, more power to you but to condescendingly assume everyone should be able to do so simply because you are is pretty ridiculous.

What type of job/industry?

Everytime I ask someone in a similar position, it seems most respond that they are in the IT department for a company.

I had my phones sent to my office address. My purchase was on Sprint.com

I'll get ours at my office, but really won't play with it until I get home. I usually just restore from a backup of my current phone off of my computer. Much less hassle. I think my current phone is on 11.0.3 so I'll have to check to see if the X is one with 11.1.
