Do you see that option, here, today, with your shipment?
[doublepost=1509642963][/doublepost]

I get that but like, I took the day off tomorrow weeks ago to be home for delivery. Pretty easy for most to do the same and then there isn't this general hysteria over pickups, delivery times, etc.
no but his is from sprint and originated in the US and he has that option... maybe it will come up tonite idk but like I said before I’ve def picked mine up launch day from sprint

Yeah, people are just impatient or come up with insane reasons why they need to contact UPS/Sprint/etc to try and get their phones just hours earlier. Patience people. lol.

I said most carriers anecdotally.. I'm new to Sprint so not sure the process there, but with Verizon they wouldn't ship anything anywhere except the address on my bill.
Same with sprint

Well this IS the Sprint thread so information relevant to Sprint customers is helpful. I don't care much what Verizon does.

I'm also one who would never take the day off to wait for a phone delivery. And why would I bother when Sprint ships it to my work? :) Lucky us. I can save my PTO for travel & other fun things.

Every Year. I'm amazed at 100's of pages of people worried a phone is going to ship, and then pages upon pages of people confirming it's shipping with screen shots from UPS, on the truck for delivery, etc. Just like it's supposed to happen, and does happen.

Like it's really not newsworthy/posting worthy. If it's LATE, or LOST or you get EARLY, that is. But to post I'm so scared it won't ship, when it's monday/tuesday/wednesday.....you people kill me :) (WHERES MY PHONE DUE 11/14?!?!)

Borden strikes for them lol

For everyone asking about having UPS hold your order for pickup:

That is not an option for launch day phones. Apple has very specific requirements for the carriers as to how these shipments are handled. UPS will be delivering it to your address, period.

If you can't be home, then you will miss the delivery and at that point will have the option for other delivery options, including pickup. It doesn't matter if you have MyChoice or not.

well....when the iPhone 8 and Apple Watch LTE launched I ordered the LTE watch and 5 other people were at the CC center in my area picking up their devices. Apple direct allows it just not Sprint...

The shipping confirmation I received from Sprint states if you need to make any delivery changes, you have to call Sprint or you may face delays or cancellation of your order. So for anyone concerned, call Sprint, NOT UPS. However, at this point it's probably way too late if you're scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

You'll get it, on time tomorrow. It may say 2 day, but it will arrive tomorrow. Some have already noticed their tracking numbers have switched to In Transit. Seems Apple put a tighter hold this year to prevent early shipments. Although some in the UK have appeared to be getting them today.
yeah my tracking now says : on its way, and will deliver on time by end of day tomorrow. But still says 2 day shipping.
We will see..
I will def post when I get it :)

Hey guys, popping in from the T-Mobile preorder thread. It looked like some of you guys were posting that Sprint iPhones are shipping with UPS? I found some info on the UPS website that I laid out in order so we can understand the shipping process a little better.

Common scans include the following:

  • Arrival Scan: The shipment has arrived at a UPS facility.
  • At Local Post Office: The package, which displays a UPS Returns® Flexible Access label, has been received by the United States Postal Service®. It will then be given to UPS for delivery back to the original shipper.
  • Delivered: The shipment has reached its destination, and the date and time of delivery have been recorded. In the U.S. and Canada, residential deliveries that do not require a signature may be left in a safe place, out of sight and out of weather. This could include the front porch, side door, back porch, or garage area. If you have instructed the driver to leave the shipment with a neighbor or leasing office, the driver will leave a UPS InfoNotice® at the delivery address.
  • Departure Scan: The shipment has departed a UPS facility and is on its way to the next UPS facility. The shipment is moving; however, there may be several days between scans if the shipment is going cross-country or moving between countries.
  • Destination Scan: The shipment has arrived at the local UPS facility responsible for final delivery.
  • Exception: Action Required: The shipment is currently within the UPS network; however, more information regarding the delivery address is needed. The sender must provide the correct shipping address information to UPS.
  • Given to Post Office for Delivery: At the request of the sender, UPS has given the package to the U.S. Postal Service to make the final delivery. This contractual service may require an additional one to two days for delivery.
  • Order Processed; Ready for UPS: UPS has received the electronic transmission of the shipment details and billing information for this shipment from the sender. Once the shipment is moving within the UPS network, the tracking status will be updated.
  • Origin Scan: UPS has received the shipment.
  • On Vehicle for Delivery: The shipment has reached the local UPS facility responsible for delivery and has been dispatched to a UPS driver. Other than time-definite air deliveries, shipments are generally delivered anytime between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (and sometimes later) to residences, and by close of business for commercial addresses. UPS cannot schedule a specific delivery time within that window. Up to three delivery attempts will be made, excluding weekends and holidays.

From what I can surmise, the process follows the order of Red, then Orange, before either of the two blue scans will follow. I'm not sure if there will be an Arrival scan at the origin facility, before the Departure scan. Once the phones depart the origin facility, we'll all get another Arrival scan. Assuming flights are not direct, the amount of time until our Arrival scans will likely vary greatly, from a few hours, to potentially 12+ based on how many times the flight carrying your parcel has to stop before it gets to, say, California. From there, we'll see any number of the other leftover potential scans until the phones are finally delivered!

Signup for ups mychoice

I did that - I called UPS and my package doesn't need to be signed for? It must be based on location whether or not you need to be present at time of delivery. (Northeast Wisconsin must not need a signature lol)

The people who are saying you cannot pick up a launch day phone at your UPS CC are just wrong. I have done it in the past and there are tons of people on MacRumors discussing doin the same tomorrow and having done so in the past.

I do believe it is a Sprint thing as this is my first year ordering from Sprint. I called Sprint and they sent what they call a “will call” to UPS giving me permission to pick up the phone at my customer center tomorrow morning. I called UPS to confirm and I can now pick up tomorrow. (I even see an alert in ups mychoice).

This is not about patience. As I’ve stated several times throughout this thread, my UPS driver doesn’t deliver til after 8pm and I will not be home at that time. It’s dark out now and although I have surveillance, it’s just too risky to leave more than a grand near the porch (ups will leave without signature sometimes). Why risk it?

Folks are talking out of pocket about working from home in boxers at 25. Don’t nobody care about all that. Most people are trying to get to these phones without incident the best way they know how because baller or not, no one is trying to risk the safety of a thousand dollar plus device.
