Apple Watch w/ Stainless/Space Black link bracelet orders

Has anyone been charged or had theirs shipped yet? No progress here on my 42mm Space Black. I haven't seen any reports of these shipping.

As of right now there has been no movement on any Link Bracelet watch black or stainless.

I was afraid of that. I went to 5 Apple Stores throughout the span of the try on period and only one store had the black link bracelet. I this made me think that my July shipping date was more accurate than anticipated.

I tried the a SB on yesterday they didn't have any in the fittings drawer but they do have spares for the display case :) even the staff in store didn't know this as none of them had even tried one on including 3 staff that had ordered them, once i was trying it on you should have seen the amount of people that were interested
By far the best watch in the line up

These are sample watches so it won't power up (only work on the demo loop when in the display case) and the straps can't be removed etc
But worth asking in store

Wish you would have posted this a day earlier! :) I had a try-on appointment yesterday - no Space Black to try on! :( That was entirely the point.

The fact that they're SO constrained that they don't even have them in the try-on drawers, coupled with the fact that we haven't seen anyone post that they've received one - is pretty indicative that there's a manufacturing problem with these watches. I think Apple must be having issues getting the carbon to plate properly.

Why does everyone think there are manufacturing problems? From what I've seen the stores that have them in stock are generally the ones that also have the Edition available to try on. However no-one seems to say the edition is having manufacturing issues or is the "unicorn" of watches.

I suspect it's nothing more than the fact the just like the edition, only the bigger stores will stock them. Not sure why, because where I live there are plenty of people who could afford an edition on a weeks wages. Regularly see Ferraris and Lamborghini's, but yet our smaller store doesn't have the edition to try on. The nearest one that does is a 3 hour drive away, but it's in a much larger city.

It's likely there's production issues as it appears there weren't any fulfilled orders from pre-orders for the space black at all. Why would Apple have NO stock for launch day, other than there being production issues with his model?

Other models, we've seen trickles of.

The Editions are in a category of their own - I suspect those would be fulfilled quickly, given the massive margin Apple's enjoying on them.

i doubt it's a manufacturing problem, if it was they wouldn't have offered it as an option. it's that they were afraid that the price point would make it less popular and didn't want to make a bunch of them that they couldn't sell and have to eat the loss. my opinion is that they simply did not manufacture much if any of them till people actually ordered them and are just now making them. i think it's a load of sh%t that they did that but that's exactly what i believe they have done.

----------

When do people expect us to start seeing movement on these? I know that nothing is guaranteed until 5/27, but I'm thinking (hoping) that we might see some activity at some point this week.
i doubt we will see any of these for several weeks, they will make a complete batch and then send those out, they won't send out smaller portions just to fulfill orders. i highly doubt we will see any of these till the end of may or june.

Us not getting them doesn't mean anything about production issues. There are 101 other possibilities, such as Apple focussing their efforts on getting the most ordered models out first and ours late.

From the info gathered with people favouriting their watch prior to pre-order they probably already knew the demand for these would be lower, hence pushed the dates back from the word go. From what I've heard only about 3% of all pre-orders were for the SS Space Black Link. 3% of say 2.0 million pre- orders is only 60,000 watches world wide out of 2,000,000!

I would say getting the bulk of orders out first would be their main priority. Have to remember that there are others in the same position as us, including the Pink Sport orders who were told they would get it between 24th April and 8th May!

Exactly this. They underestimated how many people were willing to drop a grand on a gen1 watch so they didn't ramp up production until they were assured the sales. The black version is just that much more labor intensive.

It's interesting to see that a lot of the serial numbers coming from those who have received their watches indeed had their watches manufactured around late March to early April - only weeks before the 24th launch date.

So this idea of manufacturing the high-end like 'built to order' is seeming to be very likely. Be interesting to see what the manufacturing date looks like with the first Space Black SS Links Watch in the wild.

I was told yesterday by the apple staff while in the store that the watches in the display cabinet are not actual working models just display ones! So that could mean the ones we get are a little different, they don't have all the watch workings just a loop demo
The SB I tried on had fixed links so I could not even get it to the correct size or try other straps it was heavier than the SS Link option! They said this could be the DLC but I doubt it. I think it's due to it being a demo watch.
But I was very very happy with it sort from the fact it's a lot lighter than I thought.

We all knew when we ordered or SB watches that they had a longer lead time than others, it will be worth it when it arrives.

So we need to all be patient

The good news I'm taking from the release so far is when they start shipping a style they knock a ton of watches out. Honestly seems like they already have a surplus built for certain models since people are ordering and shipping a couple days later. People in June are getting shipped in the first batch. Now granted these space black and link are going to take longer to produce but there is also way less to produce. So I'm hoping once we do see movement it should start to move pretty quick.

Mine in Centro Oberhausen - Germany - had no fixed links (he actually made it fit to my wrist), but also got the demo loop.

The one I tried on had what looked like adjustable links but the little buttons didn't do anything, hence why I could try other strap options

I wish I had ordered my SB (only last week and July estimated del ) when I ordered my SG (8:03 with first batch del)

So hope some of you are correct and it will arrive sooner

No change in my :02 order of the SS Black..still May 13th shipping but I did finally see one of these in person today. Gorgeous! I for sure made the right choice. the link bracelet is so well built. Milanese I also had bought as a 2nd band. No regrets!

My wrists are pretty damn big and the default link & milanese on 42MM fit with some room to spare. Almost every sport watch I've tried has been way too tight.

Uploaded @ max resolution so you can open those up full screen if you'd like.

I can see them underestimating, but it seems that they didn't have a single solitary SB Link watch ready for 4/24

I agree, this is no underestimation. They literally waited until we ordered to produce these. I bet this will be backed up when we get the serial numbers and can check the production weeks.

Stainless Steel Space Black Shipping Status

Thanks for posting those photos adamjackson, they just reinforce that the SS Black is the model for me and is well worth the wait!

Yep, I'd have to agree. They only time something like this has happened to me since the iPhone 2G was the iPhone 4 in white...... So many delays.....
