I agree, this is no underestimation. They literally waited until we ordered to produce these. I bet this will be backed up when we get the serial numbers and can check the production weeks.

It could be the actual time pieces have already been made and dated. They are just waiting on the case and link bands to get the DLC coating.

Just wondering, how exactly does the DLC coating work? Do they essentially make some number of the SS + Link Bracelet watches and then put a DLC coating on some of those? Or is it a different process from the beginning?

Edit: Didn't want to double post, but it looks like the leather loop and pink sport band watches are starting to see some movement, so hopefully we'll see something soon! I think that at this point, aside from the Editions, the SB SS watch is the only one that hasn't seen any movement at all (although only a few people with the regular link bracelets have reported being charged), though I haven't heard anything about the modern buckles.

So if that's the case, there are just some dumb people in the Retail/Online store branch that don't know the hardcore early adopter Apple customer base. It means they had the tooling to build the SS watch, they had the DLC process set in stone and ready to go, they had everything ready, but they were so unsure they would sell a single one, they made zero. They didn't even go "hey, I bet we can at least sell 500-1000 of these, might as well get the ball rolling so we have some for shipping to the people buying the most expensive non-Edition Watches." This means that ACTUALLY THOUGHT they might sell zero...

I dnt think the modern buckles have moved either

Yup.. Ordered the SB SS 42 for myself at 3:02 and the pink modern 38 for my wife at 3:03. Neither have budged.

I must say I am surprised how excited she is for her watch to come in. Apple has certainly done a great job with appealing to a crowd that typically does not get excited for tech product launches.

That's funny that your wife who typically does not get excited for new tech except for the AW, however there are a lot of us loosing interest in the AW who typically are excited for the latest and greatest [Apple] tech.

Wonder it that is the norm for the AW??

Hey so I've had an update appear to my status on the apple store website. I move from available to ship June to 3-4 weeks and Delivers May 20-28th. This is actually a bit of a disappointment as I feel that by updating the timeframe to something more precise, it shows that it will indeed take that long to ship these out. :( 38 mm Space Black Stainless Steel XX:07 am

I agree, as sad as it is I feel that I have lost some of the anticipation and excitement because of the launch delay for this model. I feel kinda blah about the whole thing at the moment but hope that changes when it arrives. I think I'm just frustrated right now with the whole thing.

2 things:
in the link bracelet thread there is a person who clicked on cancel, but could'nt cancel anymore? Good news?
And I think that some people are making fun: look on the results: two link watches shipped??

I want to see the first one as hopeful news, but the cynic in me just thinks both are trolls.

I ordered a 42 link bracelet watch and cancelled my milanese that I pre-ordered, when I tried to cancel that it wouldn't let me and prompt me to try later or call support :) I gave it a try later after and it got cancelled so I think this is something to do with maintance maybe.

Yeah, those people are trolls. Can never trust an open google doc. They either didn't know what they were doing or theyre just jerks.

Same for me. 42MM Black Stainless Link ordered 00:06:15 original date was June, now May 20-28th.

All of this sounds realistic to me.

Basically, they didn't start pumping out inventory until pre-orders started ... in fear of not selling enough.

Ordered mine yesterday

Decided to sell my Milanese I got Friday, ebay'ed it for the price of the SB Link. Ordered my black Link yesterday.
Says shipment is July :(
I hear things are moving up though. Hope I can get another before July!

Well it's great to see some kind of update on this! Congrats to the people that have an update. I still don't have any changes but I ordered mine pretty late. I'm just happy to see something happen. I personally wouldn't worry that it means that you will get your watches in that time period I think it's just a good sign that they are guaranteeing your watch earlier than previously. Means they know they are going to be ahead of schedule to the point that they are willing to come out and say it. That can still improve more I think as the process improves (especially if they just started production a few weeks ago) and they are probably going to be conservative at every stage of this.

I'm kind of blown away with what they've managed to do with the Silver Aluminum seemingly creating a surplus so quickly and shipping June orders already so I'm still holding out hope that once they switch focus to the less popular models it should hopefully go quickly.

I just checked again and my order status is still June. No update.

42mm SS SB
4/10 :06am order # W51xxxxxxx
