I've read reports that the tactic engine is to blame for the delays of the watch in general. It is being reported that the watches produced with defective tactic engines had to be scrapped. Maybe they had to scrap the Black SS they had ready to go hence the delay. Who knows....

You're simply stirring up worry when there really is nothing to worry about when your "reports" are nothing but hearsay.

AppleInsider is reporting it. Sorry everyone, I guess I'll keep it to myself. You don't have to jump down my throat.

Not being snarky or anything, and this is just a general comment. I doubt that the taptic engine is holding up the sport band that I ordered as my second for my SS SB watch.

They both said May when I ordered, so unless they miss the window they promised I will reserve my judgement of this rollout. If I get it sooner you can bet I will be doing some kind of crazy looking happy dance.

Why is everyone getting so touchy about the tactic engine talk? It's not like we have much else to talk about.

I get where you are coming from and I agree. We will likely never know what the hold up is with the SS Black or any model for that fact. At this point I'm expecting delivery in the delivery window and won't be disappointed if it isn't sooner.

Yeah, I had no idea. Thought I'd spark some conversation.

What bands are you getting to supplement the space black link band? I've ordered a black sports band and a blue leather loop. I'm thinking about getting a white sports band as well.

I placed an additional order for a blue sport band. I wanted a sport band for hiking but I think the color of the blue leather will actually look better. I'd like a Navy Blue sport with space black or space grey hardware, but who knows how long it will take for the Milan colors to find their way into the Apple Store.

I'll make sure to post pictures of the combo when the watch arrives... eventually.

The taptic engine is in every watch and there are many watches out in the wild, especially the sport.

I'm pretty sure it's the link band that is holding things up... We may never know for sure if Apple doesn't feel the need to share.

Thanks for posting the pics guys that really helps the wait! I kind of needed a reminder of what I'm waiting for. I'd really love to get a red leather loop or red sport if they have one. I put in an order for a black leather loop because I figure that will be really comfortable option maybe a good option at work typing. And white sport just so I have something for exercise. I'll actually get those before the watch which will be pretty sad. Maybe I'll just make myself a leather loop bracelet or an iPhone arm band to hold me over.

I'm kind of surprised more women don't like the black SS as well. I think it would be a great choice for a woman though it looks really great and the link bracelet would work well for anyone.

I really didn't have much of a choice honestly once I saw it I knew it was the one I wanted. Price is kind of high but reasonable for a SS watch and I've never had one that looked like this! once I saw it in a try on just reaffirmed how much I like it.

Sorry I am new to this thread. What did everyone think of the Space Black ones when they got to try them on? Our local store did not have Space black available for try on.

It felt surprisingly light. I usually wear a ceramic watch and that watch has a heavy feel to it where I don't forget its on. The try on of the Space black felt so light and thin. Not cheapy, but I could easily forget I was wearing it. The one I tried on looked more greyish than straight black.

As far as I have seen online there is no such thing as a first wave for this model. They were second wave from first order. I ordered at 2:02 and still got the May 13th date.

Okay thanks! That TOTALLY makes me feel better!! It was killing me thinking how could I have been on so soon and not have gotten that date! (yes I've been obsessing about it a bit!!)

Wonder if there will be a delay

I ordered my watch SS Space Black 42mm
and received confirmation email Fri, 10 Apr 2015 03:03:47 EST

It's still processing, but I wonder if a change I made will affect my ship date. My date is May 13 - 27 standard shipping, I had to make a change to the credit card I used. The Apple rep said it didn't change my ship date but if you all are looking at the order time by the confirmation email, my updated email came Fri, 10 Apr 2015 04:23:32 EST.

I wonder if that would change my place in the queue.

I've seen different websites that will gold plate the Milanese loop for edition owners, anyone find a site that will DLC coat the Milanese loop? Seems like it would be pretty cool.

I had to update the card for my wife's watch and Apple support told me this wouldn't affect her place in the queue.

From what I understand, adding a DLC coating is much harder to do than gold plating, especially if you want it to match the shade if your watch just right. They have to get the chemical composition just right and also figure out a way to mount it so the entire band receives and even costing, etc. Hence probably more expensive than gold plating also.

Could be wrong though. Call a few companies that can do DLC coatings and see what they say

Who was posting about the sport? You're going to call someone out, quote them.

Be really meaningful for everyone to do that....pages and pages of....nope, don't think so.

Maybe setup a poll?

Ignore this guy folks, keep em coming if you have em.

I'm fine with people posting pics. I though 4 of the same guy with slightly different angles, imposing a filter and using a post for each pic (causing subscribers a notification with each one) was a bit much.

Two things both 'meta' posts I suppose.

On the taptic: Look, it's old news. Very old. News that was discovered back in February, it was caught before launch, has nothing to do with future delays, just offers some insight in to why it's a slow rollout. Nothing really changes, way overblown IMO.

2) Haven't we done this syntax thing enough already? in several threads? If folks really want to know that still - follow the doc or put it in the signature.

I, like all of you, want my SS SB watch as soon as possible........... however I really don't understand the vitriol, doom-mongering and anger on this thread.....

FACT - we ordered our watches knowing the timeframe for delivery
FACT - there has been nothing to indicate any delay (indeed for some with later dates those have moved forward)
FACT - none of our watches have actually been delayed

The only reason we have for frustration is that people with other models have their watches now, and we have to wait - not really anything to criticise Apple for.

Re the Taptic stuff, I can cite multiple reasons why this has no impact on our watches...

1. The SS link models have same shipping status/windows as SB, but they share same Watch as with many that have already shipped - and the taptic engine has no impact on the band!
2. Apple will have known about the consequences of any production issues in advance of taking orders - hence the short supply and elongated delivery windows - so any delay has already been factored in.
