Stainless Steel Space Black Shipping Status

I wonder when my July delivery will occur. Since it seems like even those at the very beginning of the pre orders were getting June..
Hope it all starts moving very soon 😀 😀😎

FACT - we ordered our watches knowing the timeframe for delivery

FACT - there has been nothing to indicate any delay (indeed for some with later dates those have moved forward)

FACT - none of our watches have actually been delayed



The only reason we have for frustration is that people with other models have their watches now, and we have to wait - not really anything to criticise Apple for.



Re the Taptic stuff, I can cite multiple reasons why this has no impact on our watches...



1. The SS link models have same shipping status/windows as SB, but they share same Watch as with many that have already shipped - and the taptic engine has no impact on the band!

2. Apple will have known about the consequences of any production issues in advance of taking orders - hence the short supply and elongated delivery windows - so any delay has already been factored in.

I don't think anyone was or is criticizing Apple. They have not missed any delivery windows yet for us, but it would be nice to get it early like many others. I'd love to see them ship some out even if it's not mine!

I love this thread because we are like a little group that ordered exactly what we wanted. I got such a thrill when I saw the black coating that I knew I had to have it.
The wait will be worth it whether it's June or July.
 
I don't think anyone should panic about the taptic stuff because this all occurred before the announcements and devices going on sale. So the timeframes that were given when we ordered already took into account these issues. I do wonder if the Space Black was amongst the ones they had to scrap though or if its just the painstakingly long process for making the link bracelets
 
I had an apple watch in hand, but decided even July would be better in the long run to have that black link bank... mmmm Space Black!

I agree, we are a small group that knew exactly what we wanted. I think the SS Black is a step above the rest and I like how the display seamlessly flows into the watch due to the DLC coating.

Still, to me the whole process is a little bit annoying. That's like Apple making iPhone 6s only in the 16 GB configuration. Instead of having all of them ready. I not sure I quite understand that part.

I get the impression this process was not their intent but the short supply forced them to not be able to ship things on time.

Again, the fact that they didn't have a single Link watch available for launch ONLY makes sense if someone there ACTUALLY thought they would get ZERO orders for them. That's it. It's the only reason that makes sense. The case and band design was finalized before the unveiling in September 2013. They've had that much time to start making a couple thousand of every model, including the Links...they just decided to wait and make sure someone would want one.......................

I get what your saying but why wait? Like Apple has made anything recently that they have sold zero of. I think they were behind in production at the unveil and I'd be willing to bet they hurried a few dummy/final prototype models out the door just to present at the announcement in September. With the production weeks on the watched people have been receiving it's clear that production across the board just started in the end of March/April.

The wait for my SS Black continues...

I agree, the SB SS is the only one that I really want. The editions are not in my price range. If I could lay out that cash for one, I would rather put the difference in retirement.
It will be worth waiting till June, just hope I have it for my summer vacation in July.

I definitely agree that this one is worth waiting for. I initially I was torn on getting the Space Black or the standard link bracelet. I was worried that the space black wouldn't work with as many bands but after seeing it in person (Under the glass not a try on) I was sold. I ordered both a regular and space black link and even if the regular link shipped sooner I would still hold out for the Space black. It was the one that caught my eye from the very beginning.

Quick question I didnt see posted elsewhere.
When I get the SB Link I want to order the black leather band to go with it for more causal look.
But does the Black leather loop come with polished silver ends? Would like kinda s***y if its black and black with polished ends at the connection 🙁
 
Most of us ordered the SB SS right at the opening bell April 10th and recevied a delivery date of May or June (my delivery/ordered at :04, but in California so that means an even longer wait). One can order the same watch today and get a July delivery.

Kind of makes me with I didnt want the SB SS and order it now or even in July, that would mean a less of a wait.

Trust me - Ive got a july wait and wishing i had ordered it at 3:02 instead of my Milanese.
July is a long way away 🙁

I should have ordered it on 4/10. Thought I wanted it with the sport band (and didn't want to spend that much). Should have put in a reserve order, then checked it out. Ah well, hindsight's 20/20 and all that. I'll get it eventually....and there may even be a .0x release to fix bugs by then.

I can imagine a half dozen other rationales, but I'd only be speculating. One such example - perhaps the cost differential between volume lot sizes is large enough of a margin impact to wait for batch sizes to amass to some other figure besides "ZERO". I.e, maybe it saves Apple a big chunk of change to create 1 batch of 60000 watches instead of 2 batches of 30000. Again, I'm only speculating....we will probably never know,or even care after we take delivery... Can't wait either!😉

Awesome - exactly what I've ordered (42mm, extra black band with grey pin also)! Shipping 12 - 26 May (UK).
