Let's be logical: apple don't produce the link apple watch in small numbers, so the fact that some famous people get theirs is a godd signe that there should be some movement in near future for us :)

yeah looking back at the last 3 weeks sure... probably in 3 MORE WEEKS... cause logic has a LOT to do with it.. NOT

he's a celeb? I've never heard of this guy

and it's funny he's wearing an apple watch while unboxing another, feels good to all us waiting lol

It's a video effect, they cut the video....he only has one watch.

Oh great, if Will Arnett get's his watch before the "general public" then brace yourselves for about 10.000 celebreties getting theirs before we do. :D

For all we know we'll have a better Apple Watch then Will Arnett. So there's something to maybe make us feel better.

if he has a defective watch, Apple will send him a replacement before his assistant even gets off the phone with Apple customer support

Seeing how the extra band I had ordered had a delivery window that started 2 days ago yet the order is still in processing... I'm sure the damn POS watch won't ship to deliver the 13th, it will probably deliver if anything at the END of the delivery window on the 27th...

Any of you guys worried about scratching your black coating off the watch?

Is that your conjecture? Can you reference a source for that statement?

Based on the fact that no-one has received one yet that speaks to the fact that there wasn't any to ship on launch day. No I don't have any direct source that says they are in fact doing this but the fact that none have shipped to anyone it's safe to assume I'm correct.

----------

There are a few people posting this kind of nonsense on the Watch forum. We aren't talking about some fly-by-night company that would operate like that. Do you actually think that the most valuable company on earth is going to say: "gee, we better not actually make any of these link watches, they are kinda expensive. What if nobody orders them? We don't want to get stuck with 'em"

Thy why were there none that shipped on launch day? Why haven't any of them shipped a week after launch day? They aren't shipping because they haven't made enough of them for a whole shipment and it's been 3 weeks since pre-orders. You are free to believe whatever you want but based on the facts at hand one can only conclude that they didn't make any of these till we ordered them else there would be people out there with them and there aren't.

Do you think the worlds most valuable company will care about the cost of "building" a shipment up before shipping? That most definitely is not the case, if there was anything to ship they would ship it.. However there's NOTHING to ship..

Do you think they intentionally delayed the production of these? It's more complicated than that.

There's a lot of information out there about the effectiveness of DLC when done correctly. While it's certainly possible over time, I think the space black will be the most scratch resistant option.

Here's a scratch test on a different watch with DLC coating.

Yeah, I was reading about that. I guess it's probably going to do better then the space gray anodized coating, then again, my iPhone looks pretty good, so maybe Apple's done it right across the board ...

How do u alll feel knowing theres pets with apple watches befofe us?

Wow! Thanks for that. I knew it was going to be more durable than the regular SS, but that's just insane!! :)

I never said that did I mr assumptions!? But obviously they aren't "holding" the shipment until they have enough to ship.. That's all I meant smart one.. There's more to the problem than that.

I'm still willing to bet it's a resource-efficiency problem.

My hunch is that the same CNC machines used for link bracelets can be used to make parts for other bands. I'd be curious to know if the pins of the stainless sports bracelets are milled, and if so, whether the same machines are involved. If the pins are milled, that might also explain why we're seeing slow delivery of the Stainless Steel sports-band watches.

Resource contention could also explain why the link bracelets started with a known delay vs other models out of the gate -- Apple may have suspected they would need to focus their available machines on the high-throughput work before starting on the longer running link bracelets (which take many hours of milling time). They would have baked those assumptions into the quantity of watch combos to allocate for each window - I have no doubt that they knew exactly how many of each combo they could build at full capacity.

While I'm speculating - I'd also assume that any early link bracelets being made today would be routed over to be DLC coated (no sense having those machines sit idle).

Given that the shipping time for a 38mm link bracelet is current 2 weeks, it doesn't seem like there are production issues. My guess is that they're well within the parameters of their original plan. Unfortunately, they're probably going to use every bit of available schedule buffer to "get ahead" on pieces for other bands before switching more capacity to the link bracelet.

None of this helps the fact that July is a long way away :p

For those in the first shipping window (me included!!) do you think we'll get these closer to May 13 or May 27? Sadly, I think we'll get it later than sooner...

I believe closer to the 27th looking at how the bands are in their shipping window yet they still show as processing...

huh? what are u talking about? the only band they don't sell is the space black link all others they do and NONE are shipping...

Which is what I mean. They don't sell our band separately, so I'm not sure why that would matter

Even if they did sell our band separately, other watch combinations are shipping much earlier than their estimated dates.
