Adding AppleCare+
Guys, I've been suggesting adding AppleCare+ as soon as your watch is added to your support profile (if you didn't add it when you purchased and still wanted to do so), as it seemed like good timing as, because you haven't received it yet, they can't insist on an inspection of the watch (saving you a trip to an Apple Store).
Well, this bit me in the ass yesterday. I called, got them to add AC+, then I got the certificate e-mail and the AC+ expires on June 15, 2017. So, I'm paying for days of coverage that I haven't received my watch yet. So, I had to call AC+, give them the skinny and now Joe from Agreement Administration is going to adjust my purchase date to tomorrow, so I get my full 2 years of coverage.
Joe did also highlight that there's a downside to being a pre-order. Your warranty kicks off when the item is shipped, not when you receive it. (say what?!). He said "Now, I can't ever see us not helping a customer out if something happens a day or two after their warranty expires..." but I still see this as a problem.
We have people like Chulan that their watch was delayed and they received it a week after it shipped from China - this would mean he gets screwed out of a week of his manufacturer's warranty was well as AC+.
Not cool.
I suggested to Joe that I'll get the executive escalation team to get that sorted (via the tim cook e-mail), he suggested the proper mechanism is the feedback page.
Nah...I want the executive escalation team to do something about this.If I use the feedback page, some pencil pusher may decide. Nah, f him.
Just letting you guys know. Keep an eye on this. Call AC+ and ask them to make it right if there's more than a day or two between when you received the watch and when your AC+ should expire.
Paying for a day or two is not a big deal. Apple has a unwritten 45 day after warranty policy. They will help any customer for 45 days out of their warranty if their device has problems.
I noticed my warranty started 2 days before I picked it up, guess what? Im not too worried about it going to throw a fuss over it, not worth the time. Im going to instead just enjoy my watch and if it happens to break after warranty, I will just ask them to take care of me because I know about the policy and because my warranty started 2 days before I received the watch and the tracking number / screen shots / apple order website is proof.
