EXACTLY!! Apple shouldn't be charging any difference. The CC companies (or banks) do the conversion for us.
Well, see, Apple might be doing that. For instance, the US prices are "low" but sales tax is included outside the price. So, assuming the value added tax is 25%-not unheard of in some countries-this would put the price at $1375. And when it is translated to USD at $1450...it becomes a somewhat marginal difference-7% difference in price outside taxes.
So that's the UK premium over US prices: 7%. No more, no less, and the dollar has weakened as of late; so if the dollar was, say, a few percent stronger (you know, where it was when Apple came up with the pricing) the differences in price become rounding to the nearest attractive point.
If you're in a Socialist Country in Europe, really, that's why the prices are so different. That's not a knock on European socialism at all. For exampl youe, guys don't have to pay into your healthcare through payroll deduction either, and you guys do build mass transit infrastructure, and as a result, things like electronics are slightly more expensive on your balance sheets due to taxes included in the price.
Lol - thank god it's not just the UK that get ripped off.
Just count yourselves lucky in Aus that you are not paying our UK prices!!
