I'm almost certain that the SSSB watch on display at the Westfield shopping centre, in the UK is not a DLC coated watch. It too exhibits a "gun metal" colour, which you could argue is just the lighting. But, the main reason I think these are not DLC coated, is that when I visited my store a few weeks back there was a small, but noticeable, scratch on the bracelet, under the bezel. I pointed this out and when I returned a day or so later, the watch had been polished and a small shiny metal tarnish stain was in its place. Pretty sure a DLC coating wouldn't behave this way. But, I'm no expert

Either way, I'm going to love and cherish it.

Unfortunately DLC can scratch and to refinish it it has to be taken apart. So cherish it and protect it!!!

Today is 5/12 no CC charge. I'm not getting my watch tomorrow and starting to get a little upset . I was one of the knuckle heads that woke up at 3:00 am to order the damn thing .

How do you know you won't get a charge today and delivery tomorrow. Look at the basic link watch. They got charged yesterday and ship today.

So I am now officially into the first day of my delivery window and I'm not receiving the watch today as my order is still "processing items", 32 days since I placed the preorder and still nothing and still you ring Apple and they say it will be with you before the 26th May we don't have any further information, you ask why every other model except the "edition" range have had batches shipped (seeing as though the standard SSLB watches started shipping yesterday) and their response is we don't know... They still claim there is no production issues with the SBSSLB but I now am starting to beg to differ and believe that in fact there must be

They even ship alreaday ss apple watches with link bracelet ordered at +30 min...
Come on apple, send some black space apple watches too!!!!

Lol I hate the people who panics, but now I'm losing my calm too ;)

P.S. I still believe that apple will honor their time frame, but I'm just impatient to see some change

Relax until the last day of your shipping window passes.

Just because you are a day into your delivery window (as am I), and you haven't been charged it doesn't mean there are production issues! The delivery window is just that....a WINDOW. Production issues hold things up for weeks and months at a time while engineering solutions have to be found and implemented. If there really were such issues, the dates would have been pushed back by now.

Getting your card charged even 1 week after your delivery window opened does not mean there were production issues, just that they are not ahead of schedule, that is all.

If you have ever worked in an engineering or manufacturing enviroment you will know that things don't run like clockwork 24/7, 365 and that while you do your best to meet deadlines, things can slip by a week here and there for whatever reason.

Hence Apple HOPED to start delivering by the 12th May, but they gave you a 2 week window so they have a bit of a buffer for unforseen circumstances which cause a hold up by just a few days.

DOES NOT mean there are manufacturing problems.

Oh, and 99% of the Apple reps know no more than you or I, so what do you expect them to say, other than it will arrive within the delivery window?Do you want them to tell you it will be delivered on the 18th May at 2:13pm by FedEx and the delivery driver will be called Dave....:rolleyes:

I carry a benchmade knife with a DLC coated blade that I have used without regard for the finish and it is holding up quite well. If my SB watch looks this good after on a few years, I will be happy.

...still waitin' for the first: Got charged.
Unfortunately I can't see, when Apple charges my credit card.

I bet we get charged today. People are getting SS Link watches today and weren't charged until mid-afternoon yesterday.

This is one of the VERY few times I am anxiously waiting and wishing for a $1099 charge in my CC !!!

So, what exactly are you trying to say??

From the article you posted: "We've seen factory and aftermarket DLC watches that seem impervious to damage, while others have flaked off with minor use. It is a very safe bet that Apple's DLC is pinned at the better end of spectrum, and that would mean the Space Black Watches will be the most durable models of the watch in day-to-day use."

Me, I think Apple cares enough about quality that their DLC will be of the calibre we see in the scratch test video we've all come to enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02LAMOpEVq4

We can debate this all we want, but, ultimately, we won't know until some idiot does a scratch test with an Apple space black watch. (or one of us has a horrible accident, which puts us on a ledge, wailing about our poor watch) ;)

Me, I think they'll be indestructible. But, you go ahead and wrap yours in screen protectors and amour ware :)

Oh...and those saying "OMG, a day has passed and we don't have our watches, there must be a production issue!" 5T4U I mean really?! You don't think Apple would have pushed the windows back if there was a production issue?

It's not like they're manufacturing them NOW. They're obviously already done and being packaged, crated up and scheduled to ship out, or the window would not be nigh.

So, take a valium / beer/ soothing tonic of your choice and chill.

They'll be here shortly.

There is a significant difference between being a customer and a satisfied customer. Meeting a shipping window will not make most of us satisfied customers. Especially when others who preordered have their product ahead of shipping windows....

I think the reasonable people will be satisfied customers if they receive a high quality product within the shipping window that Apple provided them.

It's interesting to watch the back and forth between those who express their dismay and those who encourage others not to. I think we're all in the same boat right? I am not really very excited about how this has all gone down but I figure we will have our watches pretty soon.

Just one aside - there have clearly been production issues as evidenced by the delayed launch, the tactic engine recalls, and a few other things. That doesn't mean, however, that Apple is about to pull the rug out from under anyone at this point.

If it makes anyone feel better the SS Links that got charged yesterday are delivering today. So the wait after we see our first charge for a space black may be one day!

WTF?! That's sarcasm, right? You really aren't taking the most gorgeous watch they make and putting a fugly plastic wrapper on it, right?!

Heh....sorry, haven't had my coffee yet...need to remedy that.

:) you crack me up. No way would I cover the best looking watch Apple makes. Not counting or considering the gold.
