So which is worse and more in need of a life?

Watching this forum in a lonely room or sitting in line with other people for a just a phone. Hmm... Hard call...

I will answer that anyways... People like me who is at work and has nothing better to do because I can't be sleeping....

LOL! You do win the prize!

Besides what is better to pass time then to laugh at those camping out over a bloody phone? With or without it the sun is going to rise and set and life will go on...LoL

Part of me is jealous; camping out and meeting people is always a fun experience, the other part knows that ordering it online has it shipped to your door on launch day... haha

I went to my local O2 store, a queue of 20 people ... the shop hadn't even opened. An O2 sales rep. informed me they had sold out

The nearest shopping centre (bluewater) has 300 units, and a very long queue

It looks like the limited supplies that plagued the iPad are worse for the iPhone4

It's always been this way really. I remember when the original iPhone came out and you had to refer to a page on the Apple site each night to work out which stores had stock the following day and which didn't so you knew where to queue up. And it took a week or two for any o2 stores to get more stock after the intitial stock levels vanished on launch day. And you'll always get people who queue up outside a shop and then get angry when a sales person walks out 15 minutes before opening time and says "We've only 15 phones".

Fact is they will never meet the demand.. there will always be frustrated people.

my iPhone 4 arrived Wednesday morning at 10:24am PDT.

i arrived back home from watching USA-Algeria at a neighborhood pub at 11:30am.

my iPhone was waiting in the garage for me where my presigned note told fedex to put it.

in 1989 i camped out the same way for Stones tickets, only to get shut out 2 people from the front of the line, so i can empathize. while it may be a bonding exercise to camp out or wait in line and while it surely gives you a modicum of geek cred for doing the same, i'll kindly note that i'm 37 and i need my sleep.

Yep I would rather sleep. Besides most of those people you will probably never see or talk to again so I think that is rather lame reason to camp out. If I wanted to meet people I can sit in a mall any day of the week...LoL

Here's my strategy:

I'm planning on going to the Foxconn factory in China, armed to the teeth and getting my sh** straight off the assembly line. Then I'm going to the commissary for some authentic noodles and I'm off baby.
Yeah!
Black OPS in the house!!!!!!

thanks Sean

when the product is HOT, you gonna want to increase your chances of getting the gadget. I remember the lines for the psp. yeah they were long. And I must say the psp has the BEST SCREEN on any mobile device.

Thank you, AT&T, for not letting me upgrade yet. Tonight, I'm sleeping in my own bed, under a roof. Tomorrow I'll sleep late and have a nice breakfast and relax. I spent preorder day outside in the sun, enjoying the weather - I didn't turn on my computer or even make a phone call.

This weekend I'll enjoy the company of friends while having drinks on patios and listening to music at concerts instead of scanning forum entries and arguing with AT&T operators or Apple Geniuses about signal strength, touchscreen discolorations or when a "white one" will be available. My 3GS with iOS 4 is good enough for now.

Good luck all. Someone once said "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you might miss it".

Just unbelievable!

Note: I you ever see me waiting in line for a product – except for the last can of milk maybe – then please shoot me as that would mean I have no life anymore.

I can't view the video

...and the iPhone 4 wouldn't be able to view the YouTube video for this story either... I'm sure a lot of people, particularly viewing this site (and this article is particularly ironic) use apple iDevices, and we know apples not about to change their flash policy. I know it's a little work, and pretty trivial, but surely macrumors (of all places) could support iPhone/iPad video on their site. I know it's not hard to do and I don't even have an 8 year old apple related website!

We didn't create or post the videos, so we have no control of the format. YouTube takes some time for a video to be viewable on the iPhone.

Are reservations transferable? I could not find any literature on Apple's site saying this would be prohibited? Can anyone confirm or provide any insight?

So glad I didn't have to wait in line this morning here in the UK. I'm on o2 and due for an upgrade. Purchased my last iphone with Carphone Warehouse. As i had registered my interest with them for the new iPhone 4, they called me yesterday and asked if i would like to order one on my upgrade. It's out for delivery right now. Shouldn't be much longer :)

Edit* Just arrived :)

Is there anyone at the Tyson's Corner, VA store now? I work across the mall, but live 80 miles away in WV. I just don't feel like standing in line lol.

Why would you do this?

Impatient and <deleted>

On the other hand it lets the rest of use make more informed purchasing decisions at a later date... after reading tonnes of OMFG YELLO SCRN NO SGNL reports

I cant believe how many idiots came here without a reservation. I'm sitting 7th in the reserve line that has now grown to about 50-75 I think, but right when mall security let us line up there was instantly like 100 teenagers lined up in the non reserve and i casually walked up to 7th after that lol. Sucks for them they probably wont even get phones for the most part the lines so long now

My local Walmart has only 1. I was just told it was going on sale at 8am EST and I would need to stand by the register until then. i.e. - whoever is first at the register gets it. That's 2 hours and 15 mins from now. Trying to decide if I want it THAT bad. :)

lol at all those people waiting in line

a friend of mine and me we just went to the t-mobile store half an hour before it opened with only 4 ppl infront of us and we got 2 lovely new iphone 4 without even having preordered :D
