I have a hiss on my 6S+ as well but it is the same static/white noise that you hear. however on my 7+ this is not static there is an audible LOUD hiss at the beginning of each video almost sounds like a wave crashing at the beach and then it goes back to a (slightly louder than my 6S+) white noise. This is not at all the same and has to be an issue. I'll be returning mine tomorrow and probably just gonna hold off. I was on the fence before today and this is making my decision easy

Quick example..you can see how it goes away after a few seconds..happens every time i take a video

Here is my 6S+ in comparison
Try your two devices using the front camera?

Here's another one with the same loud Hiss in the beginning and can also hear the very noticeable pops when zooming. Anyone else ha img this type of issue?

Week 37 and got this static noise too while recording, tried with EarPods and without, but static noise is in both...but have to put the phone on max volume to hear it.

Interesting thing is, I just tried it on my old 5s and there is this noise too! Seems really strange.

And this static noise while recording is constant and no drips or stops like some of you experienced, its throughout the whole video :/

I didn't hear any hiss until someone in another thread said you had to record a video to hear it. I did hear it in the video, but then I did the same thing on my 6S and it has the same hiss.

Also there is a pretty loud audible "CLICK" when i press the zoom button on the video. not sure if that is an issue or not but it's annoying and a deal breaker for me to keep this phone.

Ummm, that is because you are tapping the zoom icon too hard?

After reading your post I tried it and had a slight tap noise until I used a more gentle touch then could not hear it at all.

Mine is week 37 and I do get a super faint but consistent high pitched noise in the very background in a silent setting, like, so silent I hear my own ears ringing. Then I used my headphones to record the same scene and the white noise actually increases a bit and the high pitched noise goes away.

So I think my phone is fine, some of the other videos are more severe however and I would be looking for a fix for that.

But I also know how this consumer society is, flipping out at any sign of imperfection and crying "Deal Breaker" when internet-only-stars are filming bannana slugs.

Yeah....Deal Breakers left and right, LOL!!!

did u watch the videos I posted? Clearly not if u think this is flipping out or a slight imperfection. I get it tho, your phone is fine so everyone rlse must be flipping out over nothing. Glad you are so in touch with consumer society

Did a video of my iPhone 7 with the hissing and with my 5s which makes the same noise. Only notice while volume is very high. Also seems to be a little bit different than some others got with the super high pitched hiss. Maybe its just the normal white noise??

(I also changed between 4K, 1080p60fps and 1080p30fps to see if its maybe software, but its on all the same)

iPhone 7 serial number starts with DNQ and week 37 manufactured.

Obviously you missed the part where I said some of the other videos are more severe, get a fix for it.

I have an appointment for Saturday but am thinking about cancelling it. Seems the replacements have the issue as well so it's probably not worth driving the distance to an Apple Store.

Ask for a week 34 production! All u would need is either the EMEI or SN

Think I'll be keeping mine. Seems the small static sound in the background is normal even for iPhone 6s. But for those that posted videos of the hissing, that's a different story.

Yeah I really think the slight static sound is normal. I have it on my 6S+ and never even noticed it until I started getting the completely different loud wave crashing hiss on my 7+ and did a few comparisons. I'm going to Apple Store today to see what they say. If they exchange I'll open it right in front of them and if it exhibits the same issues then I'll just return it and either wait it out until next year or get the Note 7

Yea make sure you test it out right at the store so you don't go home with another faulty phone. Good luck! Let us know

Mine has the same hiss on my 7+ but it also has like a faint coil whine clicking noise like a hard drive that is being picked up in recorded video. It becomes much more noticeable when you zoom in while filming a video. I'm going to see Apple today.

That sounds pretty normal and actually much better than my loaner Galaxy S7 sounded like--meaning lacking noise cancellation of any kind. My iPhone SE and 6S Plus make that slight background noise, too, so I think you're good.

Most recording devices I've used going back to my first RCA camcorder in the early 90's made some kind of background noise. If you compare your audio to the samples provided just ahead of yours you'll notice the very unmissable loud sounds that definitely should not be there.
