Went into Apple store today and the advisor hadn't heard of this issue before and said it was probably a faulty handset. He said that they'd more than likely just replace the phone for a new one.

But the earliest Genius appointment isn't until Tuesday. Waiting game...

I'm going to wait a few weeks. I can live with it for now. Hopefully after things have quieted down, they will have corrected the issue, and I can get a replacement without hassle.

I barely ever record videos but I'm not standing for faulty hardware when spending £700 on a phone. Just because I haven't used the camera to record video much in the past doesn't mean I won't in the future.

I'm going to Covent Garden first thing. I'll be waiting outside for them to sort out a replacement. I've also tweeted anyone I could think of in the upper echelons of Apple on twitter making them aware of the issue at hand.

I noticed these are made in different factory's. Aside form the week #, have we determined if this could also be isolated to a specific factory?
Seems the factory doesn't matter. Have read people with different factory codes still having the same issue.

So I wonder if I don't have AppleCare, how long do i have to have apple replace?

So I have the static noise when there is no background noise really on my device. But with the EarPods you can't hear it and when at Max volume you begin to hear it slightly

I'm talking about buying AppleCare. I already have the phone.
Dude... Why would you be forced to buy something for another Benjy when the product subpar?! This is not a dollar store phone!
I paid this out right 800$

Just got my iphone today and mine has it! :( (Factory - C39, Week - 38). I will probably just wait it out until they have fixed the issue with later build dates. Hopefully it will be easy to replace, but kinda bummed as I just put on a glass screen protector.

I feel you, I got my iPhone just yesterday and I'm really upset about this :( if it's a hardware issue can we replace it anytime within the year?

I just got a 7+ today, week 36 black and it has the problem.

All you have to do to check for the problem is record a video of yourself snapping your fingers in a quiet room. When I play the video back there is a burst of static following the finger snap sounds.
