tried my 6S+ and it has this noise too and quite loud... iOS10 bug? Nope, just checked some records taken with ios9 and the same background noise is there...

Exactly the same as in this vid

I think that is normal for mics in phones.
It probably is, but the interference sounded a lot like the hiss coming from the back of the phone.

Went to the Apple Store and they ordered me a replacement to the store. I showed them the videos of the static and hiss and they agreed it shouldn't be doing that.

Exactly what happened here except I had to call apple to have sent to house since the store is pretty far from me

Got my phone replaced and the issue is still there. Could it just be that the mic is more sensitive? I don't get what the issue could be.

Even more interesting! That's the reason I didn't rush out right away to exchange. I want to see what happens with more people swapping.

I really just feel like I shouldn't have this loud white noise when filming in a silent room!

how often are you filming complete silence, in the dark though? unless youre a silent movie director, but 99.9% of the stuff you will actually shoot will have noise. have you recorded any video like of actual life with noise? is it there?

I went to the store again today to get a replacement but they were all out so they ordered one for me. Yesterday I had gone in and they had heard the sound. To troubleshoot the chick restored the software and miraculously the static went away. I even took a few videos. Got home, took a video and the sound was right back. It has to be the camera mic bc if I plug in my headphones and record video, the sound is perfect. I really hope my replacement doesn't do this or otherwise we will have to wait For apple to fix this. They didn't ask me for a credit card or anything to put a hold on it. Told me they will call me when it comes in.

it isn't only in silence. I just find it much easier to demonstrate and show the extent of the problem by filming in a silent room. If the room is quiet, the mic shouldn't be picking up all this loud static.

In normal videos not in silence, the sound is still there. Just over everything else the mic is picking up

care to share a clip?

So I just did a test. Did a slow mo video and heard NO static at all. Now I'm wondering if this maybe an issue with the actual camera and maybe fixed with a firmware update.

Apple is mailing a replacement for me as well. The genius went to investigate and ended up Facetiming an Engineer who wanted to hear the sound first hand since the incidents aren't being reported enough but they are aware. They told me they would have it shipped and held at the store for me, and that the microphone is defective, and thus this is a hardware problem.

Yes the price of the phone.

Did they send a replacement phone or a new one

They didn't charge me a thing, the order cost them $349? But they didn't charge me since it's going to their store.

Doubt the new one will be different than. Since everyone has some white noise.

The white noise on my 7 and 5S are the same. After a loud noise like clapping, there's a slight hiss on videos created by the 7 only. 5S is running iOS 9 though. I wonder if this is an iOS difference.

I don't have the hissing for processor it only happens during video and its not from the phone, but the actual video recording.
That's the mic than. Cause that doesn't make sense to be from phone. The phone isn't making extra noise that the mic can pick up.

Speaking with many people about this and seeing a ton of video from different sizes and weeks, I'm convinced every single 7 has a high pitched whine in video capture. And that sucks.
