...looking forward to a quad-core MBP :D

I agree with Jobs, but I would like Apple to recognize that Safari crashes all the time compared to IE, Firefox, & Chrome.

Apple, don't get 'lazy' with Safari...

My firefox dies MUCH more often than safari. Chrome too, but I'll cut them some slack since it's beta.

I agree that the iPad will never impose serious threat to hardcore gaming. On the other hand, the iPad will be the gaming device of many millions, who do are not interested in serious gaming. As soon as it matches the iPhone's capabilities, the iPad will be popular enough. One area where it might excel is boardgames. I cannot wait to see the Monopoly for iPad! Or Risk. Or games taking advantage of the built-in camera - oops, sorry. Some might argue that there is not much point in an electronic board game. We'll see, whether an 'extra family member' or two might come handy.

I don't think anybody expects the iPad to become the pinnacle of gaming. But it's such an ideal platform for hundreds of games that I would love to try. I am even more enthusiastic about gaming on the iPad than e-books or web browsing. About these... well, glossy screen and lack of Flash kill them for me. Also, with gaming, the lack of multitasking is not that of a worry.

Boardgames would be a blast on the iPad! :D

Inferior games? It’s only inferior if you think it is, I get much enjoyment out of my Touch, I play that more than my PS2, I don’t care about playing games on the go, I’d rather look out the window while on public transport, but hey, I have a car so I can’t play and drive at the same time. All my gaming is done at home.

I would love to see the sales of Chinatown Wars for DS, PSP and iphone/touch to see who has sold the most within a one-year period, I have CW on my touch and I love it.

I would love to own a iPad one day, not straight away, I usually wait until the price comes down on certain things, I only bought my Touch less than 2 months ago and I’m having a blast with it. To think that there might be a bigger screen with bigger games is awesome and oh, there is, it’s called the iPad, coming to a store near you soon.

I’m not an Apple fanboy by any means, I would usually call myself a Sony fanboy but times are a changing.

Those games you mentioned are all good and dandy but sometimes it comes down to brand name. Bayonetta might be a wicked game but it will never sell more than say, a game like Halo, even if Bayon is better which the reviews indicate it to be, not that I care about Halo, I just use it as a point and the point is, games, no matter what platform they are on, sell, and if the iPad has a lot of games then the iPad will sell, that was my point, focus on gaming and everything else will fall in place.

I like gadgets.

Ok! Thanks for explaining more! I wasn't trying to jump down your throat or anything. I was just like "what!!" haha

Yeah, the sales of Chinatown Wars weren't that great on the DS or PSP. I think it might do better in the long run on the iPhone. Probably because it's cheaper and really one of the best games on the App store. :D

Not likely...

Re: The iPad

Not really a problem.

Apple like to announce their products themselves, and not have it leaked by a gov't filing.

So naturally Apple waited until after their announcement to get FCC approval, and it's very likely that they'll get that approval way before the 90 days until the 3G iPad's release are up.

That notice on the page is a formality, and even if the FCC has an issue with the iPad, Apple has lots of time to fix it.

WOW! Jobs is moving away from the professional creative community in a hurry. Bummer.

How?

HTML5 is going to happen . . . because Steve Jobs declared publicly it's going to happen. And when Steve Jobs open his mouth to speak, the industry swoons.

Adobe just got the worst press possible.

This was the last nail in Flash's coffin.

• "[Apple's iPhone] is the most expensive phone in the world and it doesn't appeal to business customers because it doesn't have a keyboard which makes it not a very good email machine... So, I, I kinda look at that and I say, well, I like our strategy. I like it a lot." - Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, January 17, 2007

LOL. You can always get criticism of a device from 1) direct competitors; 2) analysts with their hands in direct competitors' products; and 3) analysts talking about a product before it is unveiled. That pretty much cuts out most of those references.

Look, you KNOW that positive hype was all around the iPhone when it first came out. You cant string together 20 quotes and forget about the fact that the consumers were in a frenzy and the competitors were stepping up innovation in the wake of the iPhone announcement. That's what happened -- everyone remembers it. Contrast that to this week.

They added a LINK to the ipad. Not an offer for sale.

It helps to use precise language... They added an external link, from store.apple.com to www.apple.com, vs. added an internal link to a buy page in the store.apple.com.

Yep. I'm aware of this...

The only reason I posted what I did was in an attempt to counter speculation in the thread that the reason the store was down was that iPad was going to be offered for pre-sale via store.apple.com.

Let's see how long the lines are on day one. Then we'll have a feel.

Of course it will happen, it's the next revision! This has nothing to do with what Jobs may think.

HTML 5 will not replace Flash, it will simply remove some of more ruddimentary functions that Flash has been used for. Flash will develop into a new niche.

Apple should ban Safary on iPhone

Safari is crashing very often on my iPhone. iPhone does not have Flash, so Flash could not be used as an excuse of the poor stability of the Safari. The culprit is a crappy browser provided by Apple, for this Safari should be banned as it is a bug ridden junk according to Steve-O way of thinking.

Try using firefox

Thats what I use, because of the FF addon to -remove- flask from my browser.

Everythings 2000% better without flash on any computer.

Im glad its not there to suck my battery down.

Any wonder that 90% of the things that use flash, are ads?

Honestly I don't know why people want blu-ray in their notebooks so badly
With video streaming and downloading what is the point?
I rather they just remove the optical and use the space for something else
Almost nobody on this planet has ability to stream or download with blu-ray's quality. That's the point. If you want quality, you need blu-ray. But what do they know about quality at Apple anymore...

Yeah, extinguish all optical drives from the planet and then guess how you gonna install that software you bought from Apple...

Ahh and not everyone has the same expectations with respect to iPad.

I am anti-iPad person since some of you have already read my negatively-charged posts for iPad.

Truth to be told there is no good without a portion of bad, and no bad with portion of good.
This is very true. But there are only a few universal truths when it comes to what is good and what is bad.
I just saw this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntyXvLnxyXk&feature=player_embedded#at=172

and i would like to share it with you. iPad does 6-7 things only, but it does them pretty well!
Well no we don't really know what else it will do well as the software has yet to be written. I see this as a big element in iPads success, well written programs that take advantage of the hardware and software technologies present.
My disagreement it is not on what iPad is, but i believe that Apple by purpose didnt do it more powerful, despite that it could, and that is what pisses me off!
Please explain more powerful? I'm not disagreeing with you yet because I believe they came up short in a couple of ways. One being far to little Flash in all models. Another being the lack of a real standard USB port.

The big problem is that we don't know the rest of the story. By this I mean Apple is tight lipped about the RAM included and what exactly is in the A4 processor.
They want to take all of our money, in this and in the next version! pfff, anyway enjoy the video!

I don't really think it is that simple. Certainly Apple is in business to make money, no one here would disagree with that. However the device is rather open with an advanced SDK, that is not a bad deal. Plus we have these rumors about iPhone OS 4.0 which if true would make for one nice tablet.

As I see it the iPad is one interesting machine. However Apple hasn't played all of its cards yet so we will not know in detail what this machine will develop into in the long term. For example the simple lack of info with respect to RAM available makes it very difficult to say what software will run on it in the future. Likewise processor resources have not yet been disclosed so we really don't know what the device will be like performance wise. Apple just needs to get on the ball with info so that the average person can discuss the machine rationally.

BD Powerstation recommends XP.

I don't care what it looks like. I just want it to work to author Blu-ray.

:apple:

You know Mr. Balmer, it's not impossible to author BluRay disks on the Mac in its current state. You don't have all the authoring tools, but you can make a disk that will play on a BluRay player in HD.
