Are there any Apple fans here that are real fans, come on here, read some comments and almost feel like "oh... this is almost cult-like... its dizzy and scary now" because of the comments made? "this and that will happen because Steve said so"... ...

Damn right!
Funny that company that tries to neglect the importance of optical media, ships 100% of its software on optical media.

And after iWork Download version and all that there will be the next big thing:

The iTunes integrated "MAC-Store" where u can download hardware to 3d Print on ur newly acquired HP 3D Printer

Computers and Segways will get along just fine - anywhere

Not according to this. But who knows?

According to Time, Steve Jobs was quoted as saying that the Segway "would be as significant as the personal computer".

That might be the case in ten-to-twenty years time, when both will be obsolete...

No lines means flop, but long lines don't mean success.

Let's see how long the lines are on day one. Then we'll have a feel.

Agreed. I was about to say the same thing.

There were long waits for the Cube at first....

Apple would be foolish to build manufacturing capacity based on the initial rush of
orders - they'll make more money if they spend based on expected sales, not the initial peak.

Will they build them ahead of time, and have a stockpile for the first day? That's
expensive too - and assumes that the hardware and software are finished.

Another factor is that shortages would make news, adding to the hype.

Now I'm definitely going to be getting the new iPhone this summer. Can't wait to see what SJ has in store for us!

I see your BS and I raise... See above.

Please quote instead of using creative license.

"If you're going to quote someone please try to actually quote someone.

From that article :
As big a deal as the PC, said Steve Jobs"

Completely disagree. Had the original iPhone. Now use the 3gs. It is much better. How can you say the original was better when it had more limited software and was noticeably slower? When I go back and use the original now it seems clunky and slow.

Umm...I think he was talking OS, not hardware.

Even so, what does the 3GS do that makes it innovative? The poor 3GS update allowed Google and others in the mobile industry to catch up.

The iPhone 3G along with 2.0 OS added a lot more than speed. It also added GPS and the app store. The app store goes without say, and GPS is by far the best hardware added in the past two generations.

The 3GS added a compass and new processor/RAM. Many people want the compass removed to save production costs. It's near useless. If you really need it, its not accurate and really only useful for rotating the maps app.

The processor and speed are great, but nothing has come of them. Sure you can open an app faster, but you can open that same app on the 3G. So wheres the innovation?

The 3GS was a stall at best, and it allowed google to catch up. This is why Jobs wants an A+ update in both hardware and software. Jobs even said it himself, Apple needs to step up their game.

They need to start making products FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS instead of FOR THEMSELVES. Apple rose to popularity because their stuff was better, and it filled a need.Who needs a tablet that runs the closed iPhone OS? Give us the tablet we want, one that runs a full open os where we can install what we like, bought where we like. Steve realizes he miscalculated this one, and now he's lashing out / justifying. Reminds me of "Pirates of Silicon Valley".

Funny, when you look at the interviews of one of the most successful "small movie shops" they are asked how they make such great movies for kids and adults. They respond that they make movies *they* want to watch and just make sure there isn't anything to overtly "bad" for children.

All these people ranting about what Apple/jobs NEEDS to do to be successful. How about you go do what you claim NEEDS to be done. Apple is clearly being successful at what Apple wants. Whether you/we/I like it or not, it is working for Apple. That is prima facia evidence they don't NEED to do what these people tell them. Apple/jobs is not out to become the most installed system, they realize that you don't have to squash everyone else to be successful.

Oh and about Flash ... I heard/read similar claims about the iPhone not having Flash. Yet it seems to be doing quite well.
