Adobe is lazy and that is why flash sucks.
On the other hand, at the same time, Apple is hard at work, making blu-ray movie playback software better, because it is "a mess" right now.
Also, Apple is working very hard to get blu-ray authoring to FCS, when Adobe has had it, well..., how many years now?

You're obviously not a "good consumer" then. A bit of reprogramming seems in order...
The culture of consumption is a bit hard for me to grasp. I think the only major purchase I'm looking at right now is just saving up for a Dell Ultrasharp U2410. I have the money but I hate using savings.

Otherwise it's just paying the bills and car maintenance.

Apple would be foolish to build manufacturing capacity based on the initial rush of orders - they'll make more money if they spend based on expected sales, not the initial peak.

Will they build them ahead of time, and have a stockpile for the first day? That's expensive too - and assumes that the hardware and software are finished.

AidenShaw: technology manufacturing inventory specialist.

That's a new one.

But I think Apple has done an amazing job with inventory management without your help - in fact, I believe they are at (or near) the top of the industry in this regard.

Are you taking speculation seriously just because of the poster? Otherwise they're some observations that anyone can make.

Even so, what does the 3GS do that makes it innovative? The poor 3GS update allowed Google and others in the mobile industry to catch up.

Google "and others" have "caught up?"

The 3GS added a compass and new processor/RAM. Many people want the compass removed to save production costs.

This is the first time I've heard of this public outcry to remove the compass from the iPhone (which would save what, a few bucks?).

The processor and speed are great, but nothing has come of them. Sure you can open an app faster, but you can open that same app on the 3G. So wheres the innovation?

The PC world has equated "innovation" with "increased speed" for years.

Jobs even said it himself, Apple needs to step up their game.

Of this there is no doubt, the barbarians are at the gates. A once-a-year hardware and OS update just aren't going to cut it anymore. I hope Apple is wise enough to realize this.

WAIT !

Um the iPad is suppose to function with any apps and it's only a matter of resizing and stuff...What about the apps that use camera ??
(Font recognizing, picture edit, funny face boxing or transforming, photoshop etc...)

Anyway, a lot of people are crying about the iPad. I didn't only cry for the iPad, I cried for this whole keynote and the thing they didn't bring. In fact I was disappointed about the effin' last two keynotes, which makes a full year of Apple product disapointment.

So I think it's not about the BS Pad Apple is trying to sell, it's the fact that they think they have enough control and popularity over the sheep public and medias making them the new microsoft: They think they know better than us what's good for us and they lost themself into jackin' off on why they are so right not to include Flash or Multitasking because in fact THEY are the lazy and arrogant ones...

They won't stand long against Google that has been trying to do everything they can to release more and more new projects and revolutionnary products over the past few years, opening their platform to developpers to the point they include tweaks and gadgets in their official updates...

Personally, I regard frugality as a virtue, but so did Ben Franklin...

Frugality, in the context of certain belief systems, is a philosophy in which one does not trust (or is deeply wary of) "expert" knowledge, often from commercial markets or corporate cultures, claiming to know what is in the best economic, material, or spiritual interests of the individual.

Definitely the compass won't be removed. I'd expect an Apple Arm CPU/GPU on the upcoming iPhone seeing as Apple has licensing to build SOC from both Arm and Imagination Technologies.

- New Macs for 2010 are going to take Apple to the next level

Oh great, so they'll support Blu-ray at last?!

- Blu-Ray software is a mess, and Apple will wait until sales really start to take off before implementing it.

Oh. Fail. Sales have taken off Steve, you should know, you work at Disney, who sell loads of great Blu-rays that won't play on the computers you sell at your other job.

By an A+ iPhone update, does he mean they are dumping AT&T?

Dump, I highly doubt that. Maybe release a Verizon version, but I highly doubt they'll dump AT&T.

Exactly! I really think Apple needs Blu Ray...but we all know that's probably not gonna happen for a while

Multitasking on a phone is pointless. I mean it's not really powerful to do anything you would want to multitask with. How many calculators, notepads and such do you want to work with at the same time? All apps open quickly with a touch, so are people too lazy to actually open it up again?

I can listen to my Pandora Station, or I can do something else, not both. This example is old and crusted but it still works as one. Don't tell me just to listen to iTunes music, iTunes doesn't offer me the music Pandora does. There are countless other examples.

"- Blu-Ray software is a mess, and Apple will wait until sales really start to take off before implementing it. "

Really??!

At what point will steve think blueray should be implemented?? Its only been with us since 2006. By the time he deems us worthy Ultra High Definition will be here and then will be waiting even longer. Just forgetting about possible reasons not to have BR support with Apple programs (like authoring from iMovie, FCP etc,) why not support BR for just simple backing up/archiving?

I thought Apple was this on the front edge of technology type company, not 4 years behind everyone else company?!

you are idiots.

there is a jailbreak for a reason.

anyhow we all know the ipad will have similar sells to the first gen iphone and gen 2 and on will sell like hotcakes at a porn convention

Has Eric Schmidt become the new Bill Gates?

Has Eric Schmidt become the new Bill Gates?

All of those years ago Bill was "inspired" by what Steve was up to... looks like history repeated itself.

I wonder if at some point in the future we may learn about the conversation that these two "friends" had last August that lead to Eric's departure from Apples board. Whatever it was you can almost feel it in Steve's statement regarding Google.

It's said that you cant take business personal, but in this case it may turn out that Steve takes his business now with Eric very personal.

Somebody needs to make a tablet with pixel qi screen, multitasking, flash support, a camera, and usb support. I am sure Android camp is looking into these.

Buggy or not, without Flash support, iPad cannot deliver the best web experience! We all know that even if Flash is not buggy, we won't see it on iPad b/c AAPL wants to protect its revenues from the App store.

One little comment by Mr. Jobs and, suddenly, 50 pages of response pop up. 30 years and the man still captivates us. Even though he is a little temperamental, he seems like the type of guy I'd like to work with. Focused, motivated by excellence (not money or power {Gates. Schmidt}), and honest about a situation. What a cool dude.
