i think Steve is brilliant.
But I disagree with him on this. Bring back the CD.
You can argue that itunes have moved beyond CD importing (not true for all of us) based on itunes store sales. But if that is justification for dropping the CD from the icon, then a similar argument can be made to drop "tunes" from the name since itunes as it has moved beyond just music.
Itunes will not change its name because it has a history that started with music. That history includes CDs. So keep the CD in the icon.
Rip, Mix, Burn

He says straight up it's inspired by the Looney Tunes opening. In fact, he calls the icon itself looneyTunes.
I think it's ugly because it doesn't match with the Safari, Mail, Calendar, and all the other Mac icons I have on my dock.
I, for one, don't understand why people are complaining about the icon when there are perfecly good things to be complaining about INSIDE iTunes.
The icon is is fine. But removing all color from the side-bar is not fine. It seriously makes iTunes harder to use. Why is THAT not something generating front page stories on Macrumors?
An icon? Phhht. Big deal. Anyway, you're going to hurt his feelings.

And if it's so unimportant why did you click on the post?
Well said! I agree with you completely.
In addition, changing the iTunes logo is as almost as bad an idea as changing the Apple company logo. It's a reference to a part of history.
Is it just me, or does the music-note look like it's not centered in the blue circle?
Looks to me like it's more towards the bottom-left corner.
Thank you... perspective is a good thing. It's a bloody icon, get over it.![]()
'Luck' is just being missed by a speeding car careering out of control. Or just missing being crushed by a pane of falling glass. Or going off sick the day your office building collapses. I guess each to his own perspective. The icon is hideous! The new interface is as well, they made everything grey!! Woo 1990s throwback?? Luckily I bought candybar and changed that hideous icon. ...
The new iTunes is very elegant. The minimalist design, while actually adding more functionality, works well.
The min/max/close button placement might take some getting used to, though. Vertical navigation vs. horizontal navigation. There must be a reason for it.
Walter Disney at WED used artists who had absolutely no formal qualifications. The designer of the famous WDW/DL Monorail never went to engineering college nor had any training in it. However, he did have passion and motivation. Too bad people don't believe in that any more. Thus America suffers as a result. Too bad.
People are complaining about Apple's design choices??

Think the new iTunes logo is hard to look at?
How about this x-ray of an abused child's broken limb?

I realize we are all on a Mac-centric website, but for crying out loud, given everything terrible that exists in the world today, perhaps we should all exude a little perspective and be grateful that we are fortunate enough to bitch about freaking digital artwork.
