It's much more fun harping about the artwork of the current app, and using that as a basis for predicting the demise of Apple.PRO TIP

'Luck' is just being missed by a speeding car careering out of control. Or just missing being crushed by a pane of falling glass. Or going off sick the day your office building collapses. I guess each to his own perspective.
I thought the old icon represented tunes dancing on a dead cd...?
Is it just me, or does the music-note look like it's not centered in the blue circle?
Looks to me like it's more towards the bottom-left corner.
Troll, luck is me being in a good enough mood to absorb your useless comment
There's something very Windows Vista about the new logo if you ask me. The difference between a very professional looking aqua-esque icon, and a slightly amateurish one can be quite subtle, but it's what separates the good designers from the average ones just look at the difference between Apple's icons and those of most third-party apps in the app store. But this is straight from Apple, and on their most prominent desktop software no less.
What happened??
actually the msoft logo looks more like an underwater golf flag. I'm with Steve. Furthermore this is a ridiculous thread. Thinking I need some time away from these forums until some sanity returns, lol...
I have to laugh at all of this. I just think it's funny how a new icon can cause so much controversy. To each his own. If you like it, keep it. If you don't, change it. Personally, I don't like it at all. Looks a little to "cartoony" for me, but that's my opinion. I kept my old icon that I've had forever...
COMIC SANS FTW!
This is what I'd do: a nice photorealistic render of a high-end-looking aluminum speaker cone with a large Apple logo in the center that looks like it's screened on the aluminum. Clear what it's for, clear who it's from. This pic doesn't really fit the high-end look I had in mind, but you get the idea:

Somebody call Mike Matas. (Unless he's the one who did the new iTunes logo.)
If people have such a problem with the icon just change it, its just an icon!
Oh Apple, how far you have fallen....lol
Yet, the iTunes app is still better designed, by comparison.![]()
I could care less what the icon looks like.
Your the troll by commenting like that!. Better take a look at the detention of luck

The icon has grown on me and i've only seen it about 3 times now.
What seems to bother people more is the washed out icons for the Library, Store and Playlists tabs in iTunes. I like the new black and white look, but not many do.
I think Apple need to give users an option for these things. I mean, why can't they just have an OPTION for grayscale icons? Why don't we have an option of a tabs on top feature for Safari 5? Or if we want the dock on the top of the screen? Or if we want different themed windows?
I'm starting to worry that OSX 10.7 will have vertical Close/Minimize/Expand buttons, and will have grayscale icons for everything. It doesn't bother me too much, but come on apple, give us some options here!
I love OSX UI and design, and for me, probably 10x more than any customized Windows theme available, but I do like a bit of freedom too.
