I just saw the pictures of Steve Jobs before the cancer surgery and then a couple of weeks ago. There is a striking difference. For the "after" picture, that must one hell of a "bug."

He's been thin since he was treated for pancreatic cancer three years ago, but that is not the "bug" Apple reported this month.

The problem is you are just now seeing photos that have been around for a long time.

Wasn't he like big into Buddhism? Sounds like a jerk now.

You can intimidate people under certain circumstances for certain periods of time, but it doesn't lead to real happiness or genuine respect. There was a reason Jobs was fired the first time.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like a Alpha male who knows how to get things done!
Not all Buddhists sit around contemplating there navel.

I'd call it "win, win" but I hate that expression.

Two sets of quotes that display two different attiutudes perfectly. Im with Megafilmworks here though. Its his representation, of the attitude of Jobs is what has made Apple.

This thread is the worst piece of crap I have ever seen on MacRumors.

Close it down - Jobs health is none of our business.

LEAVE the guy alone, you weirdos.

There is NO, repeat NO, legal requirement for Jobs to tell ANYONE about his health.

This comment is the worst piece of crap I have ever seen on MacRumors.

Which is no way as convenient or fast as a 2nd physical button.

Just put it in, geesh, it's so stupid already.

Uhm. You go to preferences, Keyboard & Mouse, then go to Trackpad and then tick the box tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click.

Now when you tap with two fingers on the trackpad you get the rigth-button click.

Good luck

The rumor I have heard is that he has had digestive issues, maybe related to his original Pancreatic cancer surgery and recovery, but not malignant.
But to the privacy issue.
Can you imagine POTUS not having every part of his or her medical exam and records being made public? Even candidates divulge their medical records.

That is true in the US, but the health of Canadian Prime Ministers is private, and I suspect that is true of other countries, too. Perhaps the difference is that a PM is a head of government, not a head of state, while in the US, the president is both. Our head of state is the Queen / Governor General, both of whose health is also private.

A PM being incapacitated would not be a big deal because the party would just appoint another person as acting head. There is a list of order for people to step in for the Governor General if she were suddenly sick.

Ctrl+Click is annoying, yes.

Placing two fingers on the trackpad and pressing the button with your thumb, however, isn't. It's far easier to navigate with one hand on a Mac trackpad than any 2 button PC trackpad with that stupid scroll edge.

My guess is the true reason for the resistance is that the two button option is annoying for left-handed people...

Apple is the type of company that, if they see a flaw with something, they won't implement it until they find a better way. That's why the iPhone has no copy/paste yet... they haven't found the most effective way. If they were all about following the norm, the iPhone would've been a flop (like the Google Android probably will be), the iPod wouldn't have led the MP3 player industry for so many years, and Macs would just be a bunch of PCs with less available applications.

I right click by tapping the trackpad with two fingers, no click needed. It's infinitely more useful than a button.

But c'mon people we all know there's going to be a post-Steve Apple for a second time. The big difference is that this time he will leave on his own terms instead of being ousted/fired.

This is one post I can't stand to see negatives. You are heathens
"Heathens"? What is this? The dark middle ages?

I leave for a few minutes and you're off trying to start battles with someone else? I thought we had something together. I thought we had found that special kind of bond that only be built by grappling in the forum gutters. But now I know you're nothing but a flame whore.

Well I'm not putting up with it anymore. Wasting so many important minutes of my life with a tosser like you was the biggest mistake of my life. This relationship is finished.

I love Steve just as much as the rest of you guys. And although the secrecy tactic is signature to Apple, this story is an example of why it isn't always effective. The press loves to bring light to negative things. It is always more interesting. For example, instead of covering the simple fact that the iPhone 3G was released, what was improved, etc-- news stations only talked about AT&T activation issues.

When things like this come up, there is only one way to solve them; otherwise the press will spiral it out of control with more rumors and speculation. That solution is the truth! If someone from Apple came out with an official statement all this hokey nonsense would be over. Done. My stock wouldn't have gone down 10% last week.

I'm all for it...

We should all sign a big card from macrumors!

...if the card reads the following:

"Dear Steve,

we are glad to hear that you are feeling better and regain your health. Apple needs you!

And now, while we're at it, Steve, could you please use your regained powers, get your a$$ up and do something about the pathetic MINI???

It desperately needs your personal help, as the other guys don't seem to care about this little fella.

Best regards,
the FANBOI crowd"

LOL, and you're the one pretending that stating that "job's behaviour was unprofessional" was an ad hominem, and now you pull this?

I'm sorry, but the mere notion that someone would think of using the word "heathen" about somebody else surely indicates something.

Further, it seems you're seeking me out only to be able to call me names.

Well I'm not putting up with it anymore.
LOL, and that's why you decide to single me out, try to start a discussion, call me names and write your post?

Wasting so many important minutes of my life with a tosser like you was the biggest mistake of my life.

I see you haven't put those third grade manners behind you yet.
Besides, you chose to write yourself. I didn't force your hand

This relationship is finished.
Sorry to break it to you, honey, but this relationship was over a long time ago for my part. ;)

Jerry... Jerry....Jerry!!!!

You sir, are a jackass! You go on message boards and troll around hoping for death of the very man that brought us Apple? Then why are you so active on this forum? Your words are despicable!

No...he's about 13 years old.

(or is that redundant?)

It amazes me how the web distorts the age barriers.

it's pretty scary considering that this could be used to great ill effect

and is, i'm afraid

If nothing else, the leadership succession needs to be more apparent. Even if his health allows him to continue running Apple effectively for several more years, we need to know something about where Apple will go in a the post-Steve era that everyone knows will come sooner or later.

I totally agree. Apple needs to alleviate investors and "fans" fears by stating a forward looking progression of management. No one is around forever and Apple's secrecy on some things such as this very relevant topic can hurt the company as a whole. Not so much Steve's departure be it retirement or his demise, but a clear stated plan for company vision beyond Jobs is important.

One of the best things they could do IMO is to state that Steve has done nothing more than his public Apple shilling and the company has been running successfully without his input since his diagnosis and will continue to run and name a successor for when that time arrives.

and he's dissected your joke while the whole thing flew over his head.
