Firtsly, my best wishes to Steve and his friends and family during this time. I know from experience that these things are stressful on everybody involved and hope he and those around him are coping well.

Secondly, to those speculating about the who/why/what behind this: grow up. It doesn't matter what you think, and if all you are going to do is be nasty about it then keep it to yourself. It amazes me that people are so selfrighteous to think that if they were dying and had the means they wouldn't do everything in their power to save themselves. I know I would. As a fellow human being, I am sorry to see this happen to anyone, CEO/celebrity or not, and not knowing the circumstances firsthand am filled with only sympathy for the Jobs family and those close to him who are dealing with this together.

In situations like this I really think Thumper is right: "If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all."

I'm a hard worker and I'm sure Steve is too, however to all of those people who say he wouldn't be able to do keynotes anymore...how healthy do you really have to be to pull that off, it's at most 2 hours??? I've come to work sick as a dog and I'm still able to pull it off, and that is usually for 8-10 hours.

...first off, best wishes Steve. We all are hoping for the best...

I haven't read through all the posts, and possibly this was already mentioned, but is it possible that the 's' in 3GS is not for speed, but instead a veiled reference to 'Steve'....

...or digging further back into Apple's past, could the GS be a reference to the final Apple ][ model, the computer that first put Steve Jobs and Apple on the map?...

...just some thoughts.

Again, best wishes Steve.

Is it unthinkable or is it possible Al Gore could be powerful enough to pull some strings and get someone pushed to the head of the liver transplant line?

Kentucky and Tennessee are pretty much ignored by Apple retail so it can't be the stellar genius bar!

So you think pancreatic cancer (that potentially metastasized to the liver) and a liver transplant doesn't leave much to explain? And the iPhone launch plus the weekend will cause people to forget about this by Monday?

Ha ha, thanks for the good laugh!!!

P.S. That fat windbag Al Gore shouldn't be too hard to find.

Best wishes to Mr. Jobs and especially his family.

Whether we should know about Steve's health, or whether one believes this is a deliberate leak, or whether Steve had help from Al are of no concern to me. I truly hope Steve gets better and recovers fully.

For anybody here who has had cancer, or a close relative, it's pretty easy to understand those here who want Steve to recover. To me, it has nothing to do with Apple, and everything to do about another human being beating cancer.

Lying is endemic to these people.

+1

Didn't they have a little scrape w/ the SEC over his illness in a way to delay disclosure to keep stock high? Another case, this time on a BIGGER scale.

Let's be honest here. I wouldn't put it past Apple to delay disclosing his inevitable death (meaning, eventually, everyone dies) until Friday after closing. I think they're that crooked! Yes, it's possible he was at the top of the list, but when it's someone rich, I think a pause for thought it acceptable.

Can I fault a man who flexed his power (and money) to most likely get to the front of the line to save his life and then hide it for 2 month to keep stock high? Sure can. Oh, what some would say if this were Bill Gates. Food for thought.

Doctor says: Liver transplant = 5 yrs to live on ave

Go out fighting Steve!

Sh*t....

:(

Larry Hagman went 9 years in 1995. Had some of the transplanted liver removed on 2004, and is still going strong today. So, "on average" is large unknown in these cases. Given the resources these people have (please, no average Joe arguments. He who has the Gold makes the Rules) I can see Steve being around for quite a while.

IMO the Wall St Rag sat on this until yesterday intentionally. I'll bet Walt is not feeling any pride over his employer on the timing of this.

Thank goodness we have so many other online resources to receive our business news other than the Wall St Rag.

I wish him the best but I am also sick and tired of all the lies and deceptions, his heath problems have become to much of a distraction and I feel its time for him to step aside. Do it now while you can still go out with dignity instead of being wheeled on stage in a wheel chair. That replacement liver is only buying him time not a cure you can only keep the Grim Reaper at bay for so long......

Just my two cents flame on!

Like most of us on this forum I''m not a doctor but it seems mean/stupid to say htngs about steve dying in X time or anything else regarding his health. We aren't his doctors and don't know what the circumstances are.

Hope You Get Better Soon Steve!
:apple:

I wonder where all the naysayers are today then? You know who you are, the idiots who came into every Steve Jobs thread on here and proclaimed some superior knowledge by telling us all to "get over" Steve Jobs and "accept" that he's not coming back to Apple.

I said at the time any such notions were not only disrespectful, but woefully inaccurate simply because only the inner sanctuary of the Jobs household would know the complete and absolute truth regarding his health.

It didn't stop some people though, some who felt their opinion was beyond reproach and who felt their views were unquestionably true, from continuing to flap their gums on a near daily basis.

The bottom line is that every single user here knows as much as the next person when it comes to Steve Jobs' health or the next Apple product: NOTHING.

It's great to hear that Steve's not on his way out as many predicted, and his first keynote back is going to be something special. It might take that little bit longer depending on his rehabilitation from the operation, but the bottom line is that he IS coming back.

Get well soon Steve.

All the best to Steve Jobs and thanks to the organ donor (I hope it was a living donor. That's possible with a liver).

In fact, thanks to all potential organ donors out there.

No degree needed even a complete idiot knows that a replacement liver is just buying time not a cure. You also have to be on deaths door step to even be consider for a transplant.

Recovering alcoholics have liver replacements as a "cure", and I've never heard of cancer being removed and having the cancerous organ replaced by a donor organ.

Then again, I'm too busy living life to look into things like that when I don't need to. If you're a Doctor or studying the medical profession then fair enough, but people who look into deep rooted health topics for no reason are a bit odd in my opinion.

woot plug one for my home state
Go Volunteer state keeping the apple machine fueled.

Is the SEC going to be angry about this?

Now I don't feel so bad since I was not the only one to think of this. With Apple being so closely tied to SJ's personality, this will have an effect on stock.

It is the oldest trick in the book- a media dump at midnight on Friday. Stocks won't fall as much on Monday, 2 days after people have had time to absorb/analyze.

Yup.

That all said, I truly do wish him the best.

not sure whether to mark this 'positive' or 'negative', it's good that he got the transplant, but bad that he needed it.

any ideas? x
