Boss Just chill take as much time as you need sit back with your family and watch some more stuff on your Apple TV Hope all is great SJ!:apple::apple:

Sheit on Bill Geit, I hope not! A liver transplant is very serious, Jobs stay with us, there are too many who love you too much, the world would be too bland and unexciting a place without you.

Source of the Liver

It would be ironic if the 'liver donation' came from the daughter he denied fathering while claiming to be 'sterile'. To his credit, he since acknowledged parenthood. Or from his rrecently discovered sister with whom he has had a problematic relationship. Wonder if such details will ever surface...SJ is the world's greatest salesman, but also tries to be the world's most private man.

While obviously I'm happy to hear Steve Jobs is recovering nicely, this is still very scary news and I'm suspicious of that liver transplant success rate listed.

This is kind of troubling news to me because my Aunt had a successful liver transplant, but even after almost 2 months of a fine recovery and no complications, her body suddenly rejected it for no apparent reason.
She died less than another 2 months later. It was quite sad.

So, this is bad news to me because its clear Steve Jobs is nowhere near out of the woods yet, but obviously I'm hoping for the best.

[ fingers crossed :( ]

Either he got a living donor (someone donated part of their liver to him) OR somehow someone pulled some strings and pushed him up to the head of the waiting list by lying about the severity of his condition
OR his condition was that serious OR that liver was not compatible (um, I think there is a better term for this, but I just cannot remember it) with anybody higher on the list etc etc.

You are aware that people only have one liver?

Donations from living family members are somewhat uncommon.

Godspeed Jobs! Healthy wishes to you and your family! With this being said, am I the only Apple shareholder that's a little upset with Apple's handling of this matter? A liver transplant is absolutely something that should have been disclosed to the shareholders by Apple. Steve Jobs may arguably be one of the most important CEO's to it's company in America. The importance of his presence will be felt in the stock price once this revelation is made official and public by Apple or Jobs himself. And if you think investors don't care about who's running a company, think again. I certainly knew that Apple wouldn't collapse if Jobs wasn't at the helm, but let's not forget what Apple was like when he wasn't there.

My wife and I are heavily invested in the company, not to mention the thousands we spend on their fantastic products. One thing I still can't get over this morning were Apple's blatant lies as we watched Steve Jobs get thinner and thinner and thinner during his keynotes. Clearly something was wrong, but time after time we were told he's fine, just a GI bug, nothing serious. In Apple's defense, they may not have known what was up at the time, but then it was Steve Jobs' responsibility as CEO to let us know. And before everyone starts flaming me, his health is of concern to the public shareholders, it's not just "a private issue", this comes with the job of being a CEO of a PUBLICLY TRADED company.

I don't need to know when Steve Jobs has the flu or a cold, but a liver transplant? There have been many arm chair doctors in this thread trying to figure out how long the guy has, etc. Well I'm telling you that a liver transplant for WHATEVER reason isn't good and the best outcomes will definitely effect his duties as CEO, plain and simple. His business philosophy is now well entrenched at Apple and I think they will do just fine without him, but hopefully their handling of this is not a sign of things to come to an Apple without Steve Jobs at the helm.

Don't let our fanboy status overshadow the fact that Apple is a business and a very well run business at that. I just can't help feel that they have used the fanboys the past few months in assuming that we would believe whatever BS they dispatched about the status of Steve Jobs.

For the record once again I wish Steve Jobs nothing but a speedy recovery and I hope the transplant gives him more time to be with his family and enjoy his life to the max! I know if I needed a liver transplant the last thing I would be worried about is MMS for the iPhone or BluRay for our Macs! Which by the way Steve, is BluRay coming anytime soon?

Cheers!

Jobs did step away as CEO a few months ago so that solves the CEO responsibility part. If he's not CEO then he doesn't have to say or report anything.

and I too wish him good recovery. Many people have liver transplants and live for many years.

Getting into a patient's right to privacy or shareholders' right to know the health status of a CEO is like opening a big can of worms.

I still think they had no business publishing this story - it must be a very dramatic time for Mr. Jobs and his family, and all the media frenzy surrounding it certainly isn't in their best interest.

I guess the only thing we agree on is that we hope he recovers quickly.

Best wishes to him and his recovery.

Realistically though, considering his age and recent health problems, it would be strange for him to not announce retirement in short order. Get out, enjoy life, friends and family...

:( That bites. If it's really true that Jobs recovered from pancreatic cancer, that's pretty impressive considering how deadly it is. I myself knew two people who were diagnosed with it, and just weeks later, their startled families were attending their funeral/memorial services.

Steve's money and notoriety may have allowed him to bypass people waiting on the transplant list, but I doubt he will be able to bribe the Grim Reaper.

Ah death, the great equalizer!

I know none of us can stop the reality of dying one day. But I certainly believe in Steve Jobs' situation, that after what he has gone through, he can certainly improve the quality and quantity of his life if he takes it easy to start with.

Even on non-lethal medical issues, this is very important to recover fully. I am in a business that sees a lot of injuries. Though I make skateboards, I only ride them very conservatively. If there is one thing I have learned from seeing many people in the sport get injured, amateurs and pros, if you have had a major trauma to the body whether it's a broken bone or surgery, it is very important to recover fully before one resumes that activity and many other simpler activities.

One person who skates and sells me skateboard equipment broke his collarbone, and the doctor told him to stay in bed for six weeks and avoid anything that could put strain on that break. He warned him that a re-break of a clavicle would never re-heal correctly. It's one of those bones that cannot be broken twice. So my friend did not skate, which was good of him, but he went back to thinking he can lift, work, and do everything the same before six weeks since he got "bored" of just being in bed. He re-broke the bone and today, he looks like an alien. His collarbone sticks out so far that he can grab it like a suitcase handle. This will be his fate for the rest of his life and he's only in his 20s.

He is still CEO. He took a leave of absence and Tim Cook is merely acting CEO. He should have still disclosed this earlier. I am sure the SEC will look into this.

Thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family. What an amazing life he has had and I am sure that Steve feels the best is yet to come.

I wish Steve a fast recovery and I hope he takes the rest of his life to spend it with his family and enjoy his life the best he can. Apple will go on and be a great company thanks to his efforts. Time for him to retire IMHO

What a caring statement. How cold and callus can you get?

Donations from living family members are somewhat uncommon.

Living donations are becoming more and more common with liver transplantation and tend to be more successful because the donors are usually family members. There is less risk of rejection. The liver regenerates back to its original size within a couple months. Not quite the same shape, but it does regenerate the capacity to do what it was designed to do.

I really hope this isn't cancer that has spread out of control. If this was a cure rather than a palliative measure then that's a good thing. Hope everything goes well for him.
