When I initially read the news, I felt nothing else other than pure shock. And now, as the reality of this event settles in, I start to feel the true sadness and pain of it all. After looking at archived news stories here on MacRumors (from 2002-2007), as well as watching a lot of Steve Jobs material from my personal collections, I honestly feel very heartbroken.

I cannot believe that this has happened. I knew it was going to happen eventually, however, I did not want to believe. I know Steve did not want us to believe neither.

Steve has left behind a great legacy after him and I am sure he has advised the new leaders of Apple on how to manage the company properly. This event will be the true test for the new management.

A great loss, to his family friends and fans.

Amazing life

One of the biggest mistakes one can make in tech is to be self serving. Steve fought for the users. :apple:

I can't imagine my life without Apple products in them, from my childhood using the first Macintosh to my first iPod, iPhone, iMac, MacBook, iPad; my life is forever changed and enriched by the genius that was Steve Jobs. Your vision and amazing ability to blend art with technology will forever live on. Thank you for all that you did. RIP and God's speed on your next adventure.

His work has inspired millions and many companies are founded on technologies he helped bringing to life. The world has lost a great visionary and a great human being. He leaves a world behind, which he helped to evolve in the past 30 years. I cannot imagine anything more a human being can achieve in its lifetime.

My best wishes to his family, friends and colleagues. May he rest in peace.

I never met Steve Jobs and yet I feel I learned more from him than any other teachers I had.

Rest in peace Steve! I will miss you!

This is very sad news. My condolences to Mr. Job's relatives. This is a great loss to everybody. :(

What horrible, horrible news to wake up to. The world has lost a unique individual. We'll never see charisma in that form ever again. The world has a big hole in it now - RIP Steve Jobs.

:(

I was in the library studying for my Vector Calculus exam when my girlfriend informed me of this terrible news. I have always been a big fan of Apple and mainly Steve Jobs' intensity and love of innovation. I literally cried when I found out, right there in the library. Its weird because I never met him personally, yet I feel like I knew the man personally. God bless Steve and his family, remember the good times, and never forget.

BTW
I don't think i will be selling my MBP, iPad 2, or iPhone 4 EVER just because i feel like Steve and all the brilliant engineers put so much work in to his final creations that they literally hold sentimental value to me. Weird huh

It's hard to believe this day has come. :( :( RIP Steve Jobs, you will be missed. A lot.

Three Apples

There were only three apples in this world. One seduced Eve, one awakened Newton, and one was in Steve's hands.

Thanks Steve! When I was a kid, learning about computers with my old ZX Spectrum 48+ I was blown away by the first Mac and although I couldn't own one until quite a bit later, the feeling stayed on... The feeling that computing could be different, intuitive and fun. It has ever since, especially when you brought the revolutionary Next technologies into Apple. That's the reason I still want to program to this day. Hope the best for your journey!

My thoughts also go to Steve's family at these hard times.

I remember when Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak were in the news being recognized for designing computers in the 1970's. We sort of laughed, saying who in their right mind would want a computer, or desktop publishing machine, in their house? Well, the world stopped laughing a long time ago, and I now own five Macintosh computers.

Rest in peace, Steve, and thank you for the iMacs, eMacs, Power Macs, ipods, and all the other wonderful stuff that makes our lives so much easier and more fun.

A very sad day. Steve's attitude to work has been a real inspiration to me, and the products he has helped create have bought a lot of joy and happiness. I'm really looking forward to reading the biography of this extraordinary man next month. RIP.
