The saddest news I have woken up to for as long as I can remember. My thoughts and feelings go out to those that knew and love Steve.

Google is paying its tribute too :

A really sweet and great gesture from that company. I'm not exactly a fan of Google but I think this is worthy of praise (the name of Steve Jobs even links to Apple's homepage!).

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-gb) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

A great loss.

Here's to the genius and my source inspiration

Goodbye Steve :apple: Jobs, and thank you for everything you've created, and everything you've made possible to create. Thank you for being you.
I'm literally crying right now :´-(

Even in his death.. ...

He spent his entire life, defending Apple. He shared all his creative juice, wealth and success with Apple. Even using his last breath, he dealt a fatal blow to Samsung/Google event launch on 10OCT.

Not to forget, it is only a dreamer can make an animation like Toy Story.

Bravo.. Bravo.

Samsung CEO should said something. Now, they should not pursue iPhone 4s in Italy or France, it will cause massive anger.

I wish you well Mr.Jobs in the next life. Very sad to know you will not be running the greatest company ever. You were someone I look up to and always will.

Very sad news indeed. He had the vision and drive to drag a failing company back from the brink, and turn Apple into what it is today. He will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with his family at this dreadful time.

Terrible terrible news but at the same time not totally unexpected

RIP to the greatest visionary the world has ever seen

Some people like Apple products. Some others really love them. Some people were born with Apple Computers in their DNA. For those, Steve Jobs has always been a life inspiration. You might even come to believe he was a close friend to you, thought about conversations you could have had with him, if only in your imagination.

I was lucky to have my dad owning one of the first computer shops in Paris, selling the Apple II, and even though Jean-Louis Gassée made things hard for resellers, it worked and Apple IIs were selling moderately well. That was my first computer, an Apple IIe. Then one day my dad came back from a trip to California and brought back a new machine. A Macintosh built for demos only (not to mention probably the first Mac in France!). It was 1984. Few years later and some hacks on it to make it run normally (and with 512K, no less), that computer became mine. It had 2 20MB hard disks that, when running, made noise like you were starting a jet engine. I was hooked. I've been hooked ever since. It changed my life. And Apple Computers ended up shaping my entire career.

Thank you Steve for everything. You will always be an inspiration.

Tragic news for everybody in this world and yet, somehow, through all of this, Westboro Baptist Church says they will do everything to boycott Steve Jobs' funeral.

Sick.

Been a Mac user for many years... and I have followed Steve ideal of computing for all this time.

Thanks for the legacy. My condolences to his family and friends.

This sucks big time... you will be missed Steve. Very.

Wow, Google having a direct link to Apple's website on their homepage. If that doesn't show respect for Jobs than I don't know what does.

Really really sad to hear this. Obviously he has been battling the illness for a long time, and he must have knew he didn't have long left after but I'm still so very shocked and very sad.

Got my first modern apple product a month ago, iPad 2 in new York' 5th avenue store. It was specially enough for me but it's even that bit more special now.

I've been pondering over a MacBook pro for a long time and finally decided I would buy it last night.

As a young business entrepreneur, I really respect and admire what he has built up from his garage. It's such a great achievement for him. Really do look up to him.

Very sad
