You will be remembered

They say the best you can do is leave the world a better place than what it was like when you got here.

Steve, you've succeeded in spades...

:(

With a heart full of gratuity, I want to thank you sincerely for everything you have given us. We will miss you wherever you are.

God bless you and your family Steve.

Thank you.

yes truly sad indeed.

im not sure its the vision, or the specific products thats the remarkable thing about steve. I think what we need to keep in our minds is his commitment to excellence. Quality, and an enjoyable experience. Its his work ethic, in making something that he was truly thrilled to share with the world. how many people do that today, no compromise?

Absolutely those of us who have been active in the Mac community know this all to well, it 'the crazy ones', the ethic, the dedication to excellence and pushing ourselves and those around us forward.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve, his family, and all those close to him at this time, regardless of religious affiliation. May you find peace and your family solace and comfort, and may the world remember you for you.

I wonder how the markets will react when they open? Hopefully people will see that although Steve has gone, his legacy remains in one of the greatest companies, Apple, and all the people that still work there to create amazing products.

It never even occurred to me that he would go so suddenly, even if we all knew about his health. He died pretty young, but he made the most of his life (biggest understatement ever!). Condolences to his family and friends.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

I didn't know you, nor your family but I offer my condolences. A genius who will be missed for his inspiration and creativity. Rest in peace.

I have had some form of Apple product on or around my desk for 28 years. I just ordered something else: a 64gb iPod Touch to replace all my old iPods (including a really flakey hard drive model).

I added an inscription:

Honoring Steve Jobs
1955 - 2011

Rest in peace.

It is nice to see Job's competitors and sometimes foes speaking out on his behalf. They are all showing class in remembering Steve.

This is truly a sad day to wake up to! ;( Steve Jobs has truly inspired and influenced a big part of my life. Rest in peace angel of true innovation and wonderful user experience!

Left with a feeling of tremendous emptiness

The first computer I ever used in school was the Apple II, thats how I learned to type and what started my fascination with Apple. While many people now think of the iPhone and iPad as Apple, I remember the Performa and Powermac. His legacy to me is more than phones and gadgets but getting me to fall in love with technology at a young age and become a Apple loyalist even during the dark times of beige boxes. His vision will live on and his products have reached a new generation but I will always remember my first time touching a computer and I owe it all to Steve Jobs.

Think I might get 1955-2011 engraved on the back of my ipad when I order it.

That is truly awesome, and a great idea; I was tempted by the new release Nano; haven't worn a wristwatch in years, lol ... might just have to follow your lead in some way.

Typing this on a Tangerine iBook I bought a couple of years ago; someday I want to get hold of a 20" G4 iMac - those two are my favourite pieces from the time I've been following Steve's Second Act.

I've been listening to the feed from TWiT most of the day - the news hit about midday here in NZ, and there was no one around me that would have understood quite what a hit that was. Between reading on here and listening over there, it has been quite something to have been able to share in the communal mourning.

Thanks Steve.

And thanks to you all.

THE MAN WAS AFIRE!

He radiated an intensity that burned those too close, but sparkled to everyone distant. An amazing life full of wonder and torture emerging from his need to change the world.

Here's to the Crazy Ones!

The misfits.

The rebels.

The troublemakers.

The round pegs in the square holes.

The ones who see things differently.

They're not fond of rules.
And they have no respect for the status quo.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them,
disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.

Because they change things.

They invent. They imagine. They heal.
They explore. They create. They inspire.
They push the human race forward.

Maybe they have to be crazy.

How else can you stare at an empty canvas & see a work of art?
Or, sit in silence & hear a song that's never been written?
Or, gaze at a red planet & see a laboratory on wheels?

We make tools for these kinds of people.

While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

"Because the people who are crazy enough to think they
can change the world, are the ones who do."

Here's to you SJ, one of the crazy ones. Thank you. You will be greatly missed.

Rest in Peace,
