I never thought I would feel so devastated by the passing of someone I have never met. I guess it's a testament to Steve's genius, and that all of Apple's products carry a part of him.

I can't help but think how amazing this man was... that he was able to bring so much happiness to people all around the world through the products that he made, and how we are all finding out today just what an impact he had on all of our lives. As I sit here looking at the ipods on my desk and remembering all of the good times I had while playing my favorite songs I just can't imagine what life would be like without them.

I can now understand how the world felt when Elvis died, or when John Lennon was shot. We have lost a great one today, an individual in every sense of the word. Someone who took us places we didn't even know existed, or even dreamed of. I keep asking myself why the best of our kind always seem to go first. RIP Steve.

Want to add my eternal thank you for Steve. What a model for so many - thank you for being the stellar being that continues to inspire us all. I will be a crazy one too. ;)

R.I.P Steve. You not only sold me on you products but on your company. That doesn't happen often!

P.s. hope this news gives the "what have apple been doing for the last 6 months?" group a bit of perspective.

Steve thank you for all the amazing things you have done for this world, you will be missed but finally the pain will stop. RIP..!!!!

This is such sad news :( 56 years old and 4 children. With all the things he achieved he deserved a long and healthy retirement :( R.I.P.

Our lives have been truly blessed and enriched by what Steve has done in his life. Apple has revolutionised the personal computer, music and phone industry. Things that effect our work, our play, our every day lives.

Steve's creative vision is a loss for this world, but it can live on in us. If there's one thing I've learned from Steve it is to never give up. He never stopped pushing until what he had was what he dreamed.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

So Unfortunate

My deepest condolences to Steve's family. They have lost a tremendous man!! He's set the trend for technology, innovation and vision from the past years and years to come. He will never be forgotten. RIP Steve, RIP.

So sad, the fact his untimely demise comes so close to his stepping down shows how much passion and drive he had for what he did :(

Someone posted this on Twitter. So fitting:

RIP Steve.
Cancer is a cold, heartless bitch.

There is no doubt that he changed the world, and brought Apple from being nothing to being a household name.

RIP Steve, I have unbelievably shed a few tears today. 56 is no time to go. You changed the world. :(:apple:

one day after the unveiling of the iPhone 4S, steve passed away.. i wonder if steve, in spirit held on till the end to see how was his boys/girls doing with the presentation of the iPhone 4S..

Don't take this as a mockery, but I just thought about the new iPhone's name.

My condolences to his family :(

Shame for such a visionary to pass away so young :(. He will be greatly missed by his cult of fans and his family

Rip Steve jobs

Sad new when anyone dies, especially prematurely. Even with his extended hiatus from Apple Steve Jobs achieved so much, this legacy will serve as a tribute to his achievements. Sympathy to his family.

I never cry for anything, nor shed any tears, it's just how I am. I shed a tear today though, how could I not. He will be missed by lovers and haters alike, because the lovers will have no one to love, and the haters will have no one to hate. Those who believe they can change the world are the ones who do, but you've done more than change the world, more importantly, you've changed the lives of countless individuals. R.I.P.
