This is by far the largest thread I have seen on MacRumors.

Just goes to show how many people Steve affected and the amount of respect he has gained over his lifetime.

RIP Steve.

I am totally devastated at the news of Steve's passing.

An exceptional man who transformed the world we live in.

Sincere condolences to his family, loved ones and work colleges.

RIP

Well I'm pretty sure everyone who reads macrumors regularly has posted his best wishes here.

RIP, Steve! You were innovative and in the end, a good businessman and inventor (and a lot of other things!).

I don't think there is a brand that had just a profound effect on my life as Apple has. The iPhone 3GS was my first smart phone. A macbook my first own laptop and I now use my iPad almost every day. I always enjoyed watching the speeches of mr Jobs. He was a truly inspiring and visionary man. I'm sorry he is gone.

rest in peace Mr. Jobs.

we'd disagree on many things but your vision and success will be very unlikely to be matched. :)

He was the best CEO, and the best Keynote presenter, and his death is something I simply cannot take. I remember when he introduced all of those great products, but I can tell the one he really cared a lot about was the iPad. I'm glad he at least got to introduce the successor, the iPad 2. JUst so wonderful.

It brought tears to my eyes. You will be missed, Steve Jobs.

A true loss...

I don't know what to say except that you'll be missed Steve. The impact that you had on the world of entertainment, technology, and design is truly amazing. Your life, work ethic, and vision was inspiring and won't be forgotten.

Here you go,
I created a post saying that it was a terrible way to go and hoped that he died peacefully. I also said the man was a businessman, and a damn good one. I also said that he wasnt the world changer/humanitarian/saint that the world is making him out to be today and all traces of that post have been removed. Way to encourage think different, as long as everything is the same here. ... Hypocritical non-sense

Nobody is saying he was a saint, except you.

He was a world changer. That's not an even an opinion. Whether that change is welcome for you or not is an opinion.

He wasn't just a businessman. You'll never ever see just a businessman getting such an overwhelming response from people all over the world, including presidents of several countries not to say the least. Just a businessman is almost the exact opposite of what Steve was.

I can't believe he's gone. He had such an impact on me as a person ever since the first Apple II that I used.

Goodbye, Steve! You were an inspiration to all of us. You had a dream, a vision, and gave it everything to realize that vision. That is a strong message to everyone of us.

Lets hope that Steve now has the rest he deserved after his long, tough fight against cancer.

It would be funny if his death was a scam, and in 1 year he gives a speech:
"I'M BACK, AND HERE'S IPHONE 6! YOU HEARD ME, NOT 5! 6! BOOM!"

You know what? About a year ago, I had a dream about Jobs. It was a terribly long dream so I won't go into the details, but we were chatting on skype, and I actually saw him fall down, and people panicking in his house, and I was like, omg I just witnessed his death on a skype chat. But then he gets up, and explains to me that it all was a scam. :)

Jobs thinking differently.

Here’s to the crazy one. The misfit. The rebel. The troublemaker. The round peg in the square hole.

The one who saw things differently. He's not not fond of rules. And he has no respect for the status quo. You can quote him, disagree with him, glorify or vilify him.

About the only thing you can’t do is ignore him. Because he changed things. He invented. He imagined. He explored. He created. He inspired. He pushed the human race forward.

Maybe he had to be crazy.

While some see him as the crazy one, he was genius. Because he was crazy enough to think he could change the world, is why he did.

It's still something that will take time to get used too...

That we won't have Steve's enthusiasm, passion for Apple, and his personal desire and inspiration on stage in the future...

To create and design great products for all of us to enjoy and share...

That's something we will all miss dearly, anticipation of Steve's keynotes in knowing we will all enjoy something he has dreamt up, and crafted in his studio.
:apple:

The first notebook I ever owned was a Mac (haven't owned anything else since). My first cell phone was an iPhone (and I've owned every revision since... and nothing else) and the best desktop I've ever owned is the iMac I'm typing at now. I've replaced the hard drive and the DVD drive, but it's still a hell of a computer and going strong after several years.

I fear Apple will never be the same. RIP.

I have lived in the time of a truly great. It was an honor to share some time on this planet. Thank you Sir.

Rip...

Rest in peace Steve... you will be truly missed. Its amazing how something like this makes you think back to your first experiences with Apple and the way one man's vision has completely shaped the way we live our lives.
