RIP Steve Jobs,

you have been and still are a true source of inspiration.
Thank you.

My thought goes out to friends, family.

Apple should produce an Apple pin in memory of Steve with all proceeds going to pancreatic cancer charities.

After all, breast cancer is synonymous with pink ribbons, Lance Armstrong with testicular cancer. Steve Jobs is probably the highest profile person to pass from this so could be used for the greater good.

I don't even know what to say or think after finding this out. It's truly a sad day because the greatest mind in tech is gone. :(

God bless you Steve and may you rest in peace.

RIP the greatest, but even Steve had a sense of humor in darkest days so please no one take offense

I guess an apple a day doesn't keep the doctor away

I thought Macs couldn't get viruses!

Pancreatic Cancer? I knew PC would be the death of him.

Siri, is there a heaven?

This recession is getting pretty bad, I hear everyone at Apple has lost their Jobs

Steve Jobs is survived by his brother, Han

Steve Jobs has gone... TO THE CLOUD!

"This iPhone 4S press conference will be a success, I'd bet my life on it!"- Steve Jobs

Way too zune guys?

LOVE YOU STEVE !!!!

Something fine and wonderful has left this world.

This has hit me worse than I would have ever expected. Something fine and wonderful has left this world, at a time when there seems to be so little to trust or believe in -- and less each day. This, from a man who made computers and operating systems and phones.

Steve Jobs was an inspirational genius. Although I never met him, through the things his companies made he made my life a little easier and more enjoyable.

Thank You.

Thank you Steve for making crunch numbering computing into a variety of different devices that are friendly, functional, fun, practical and adding aesthetics to the batch. Now you know what the best OS looks and feels like! Rest and enjoy your new surroundings.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs... you have been an inspiration to me in one of my darkest moments. The world will never forget you.

I have sat here and typed 30 different things. I cannot come up with the proper words to express what has been lost. All the right words now sound cliché. I guess it says a lot about someone when some of the most venerating comments are cliché within 12 hours of your death.

I don't think Mr. Jobs would want us to dwell on his death or his past achievements, though great; I believe he would want all of us, especially Apple, to look to what we can do in the future.

Thank you, Steve.

Steve,
You changed the world, and my life. You will always be one of my heroes. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

I too mourn the loss of Steve Jobs. He made products that to me were simply cool to own, made me feel like I could create anything, be anyone in business I wanted to be and feel like I belonged to a part of the world that "was different". I had my first experience with computers when I was 9 with the AppleII+. And while I used a Dell for a bit, I went back to Mac and have not stopped using apple products since. They are part of my way of life as they are now becoming for the world moreover. Fifteen Things Steve Jobs Taught Me About Business:

Steve just didn't leave us with great products. He left us with a blueprint to follow in terms of living your dream while working.

With that in mind I quickly summarized some things I've always admired about Steve's ability to do business.

Fifteen Things Steve Jobs Taught Me About Business:

15. If your competition declares that you project a "Reality Distortion Field", they're just mad you figured it all out before they did.

14. Don't just make a good product, also make the product look good.

13. The right user experience is the difference between the use of a product for one time or the use of a product for a lifetime.

12. If you can communicate the value of your product, the right people will pay the right price.

11. Profit isn't a dirty word. It's the difference between entering a marathon or a short sprint in the life of your business.

10: Function and form are equally important parts of any product. Together, if both are done well, their sum is greater than just two parts.

9. Getting what you demand out of your vision from others doesn't make you a demanding tyrant, it makes you smarter than just about everyone else in your industry.

8. Hire the right people, then create a culture that makes them want to stay.

7. If you have enough vision and the courage to stick to it, you're usually doing your best when everyone is criticizing you the most.

6. Simplicity and elegance should exist in everything. Not only in terms of your product but just as importantly in your message - whether it's your business card, appearance or website.

5. Say what you mean, mean what you say, most often in terms of what you want. If that doesn't work, say it again and say it louder. (Or you're talking to the wrong people)

4. You don't have to be the biggest fish in the smallest pond, or the biggest fish in the biggest pond. You just have to be a fish that someone wants in every pond.

3. Less is always more in terms of packaging. Metaphorically that has some profound implications.

2. Using the right font is like stopping to smell the roses. Everything after is more beautiful.

1. Your critics don't have to believe you or even believe in you, just as long as your customers do.

Thank you, my prayers and thoughts are with your family and the Apple family.

You will be missed in many ways.

Respectfully,

Rich

Today, the announcement death of Steve Jobs really hit me. This is really a sad day.

Repose en paix Steve Jobs, tu vas beaucoup nous manquer!

Toutes mes condoléances en provenance de la France.

It is undeniable a sad day for all of us.

This is a first for me... Never has there been a time in which I have felt so empty inside over the loss of a person whom I never knew. The passing of Steve Jobs has changed that. As with all of you, Steve changed the way I live my day to day life. He made me who I am today, he made me love what I do, and he taught me to live my life to its fullest. With his passing comes a reinforcement of what he has taught all of us. Make sure that you do what you love, make sure that everyone around you is happy, and above all else, make sure that you are happy for life is far too short to be anything but happy.

It is true that Steve’s passing is a great loss, but try to focus on everything that he accomplished, for what Steve has accomplished in his 56 years is more than many of us could accomplish in 200 years. Steve has truely made the world a better place.

My condolences go out to Steve’s family, friends, everyone at Apple, and to all of you.

Rest in peace Steve. You will live on inside all of us.

:apple:

You, Sir, were a game changer. Your vision(s) changed the way many people live their daily lives . . . I trust for the better. Thank you.

Warm wishes and blessings to your family.

Rest in peace, Steve.

Steve jobs is dead from a horrible form of cancer.
He was not a humanitarian, he was a businessman who made a ton of money by having his products made in countries with horrible human rights records. Some conditions were so bad that many workers killed themselves at Foxconn. The man was not a technological innovator, he was an extremely effective leader who made products that some people like and helped form the industry.
Stop proclaiming the man a saint.
Create these posts for the and outcry for the soldiers that are killed, the kid with cancer, the teacher who passes after a lifetime of changing the lives of children. The cop who dies protecting the streets for a great $43,000 a year. These people change the lives of people everyday and don't wind up with 8.3 billion dollars.

Nobody is saying the man is a saint. Stop trying to misrepresent people's sorrow and mourning to make up for your lack of arguments.

Philanthropy etymologically means "the love of humanity"—love in the sense of caring for, nourishing, developing, or enhancing; humanity in the sense of "what it is to be human," or "human potential."

Learn what the words mean. Steve gave a lot to humanity. You may not like what he gave, but he gave a lot. Millions believe he improved our lives, including myself. You may disagree with them, that's your opinion.

Steve did not create Foxconn, nor is he responsible for the working conditions in China. People who actually read about the suicides do know that Foxconn did not have a higher than average suicide rate among the working class in China. On the other hand, Steve created tons of manufacturing jobs in China, jobs who paid money to the families working there.

He was a technological innovator. His name is on 313 patents as lead inventor. He's not just a technological inventor. He has even patented a staircase design. It was his vision that shaped the iPhone, the iPad and the iPod. What more can you do in the tech industry?

It's not only people like Jobs or Edison or Einstein who change the way we live. Everyone has their small parts, hopefully for the better. But those are the ones who make the biggest difference per human life.

And shame on you for even mentioning that he made a lot of money. The guy didn't even spend his money. He was practically working 24/7, even when he was battling cancer.

Great post and great idea. id certainly buy into that. Anything to rid the world of this horrible disease that is cancer.
