Steve jobs is dead from a horrible form of cancer.
He was not a humanitarian, he was a businessman who made a ton of money by having his products made in countries with horrible human rights records. Some conditions were so bad that many workers killed themselves at Foxconn. The man was not a technological innovator, he was an extremely effective leader who made products that some people like and helped form the industry.
Stop proclaiming the man a saint.
Create these posts for the and outcry for the soldiers that are killed, the kid with cancer, the teacher who passes after a lifetime of changing the lives of children. The cop who dies protecting the streets for a great $43,000 a year. These people change the lives of people everyday and don't wind up with 8.3 billion dollars.

I take exception to this as this forum is one of the many VERY appropriate places to write about Steve Jobs. And as much as you have a right to your opinion, it's poor form to have written what you have.

You assume that any of us won't create posts about teachers, soldiers, struggling children, those less fortunate on other blogs, forums or venues. You assume that we don't feel the same suffering as you do about the same topics. There are other ways and other places to do so and many of us do just that. And while Apple does outsource to China, they have actively been involved in trying to better those workers' quality of work and life conditions.

Nearly everything you touch at some point in the day has been made by people in worse conditions or less fortunate than perhaps those within you find yourself, and I applaud you for wanting to see change. But remember that while you chastise those of us for feeling the way we do in a positive light about Steve, his merits and accomplishments, you are doing so by using and owning the very things you so despise.

I'm not calling you a hypocrite, I'm calling you foolish for using this forum at this time to do so. Go somewhere where you might make a difference.

I really hope the mac and mac products and apple will continue to grow in the future. Hope this is not the end of apple. RIP Steve Jobs

From now on...

When ever someone revolutionizes the way we do things, it should be called a "Steve Jobs".

I really hope the mac and mac products and apple will continue to grow in the future. Hope this is not the end of apple. RIP Steve Jobs

Pretty certain he already left instructions for the next 10 years. I'm not trying to exaggerate. That's the kind of visionary he was.

This is the 2nd well-known Steve, in a relatively short time, for which I definitely offer major condolences to the family. Two Steves that made impact on my life experience.

And like the other Steve, Jobs' impact will continue to be felt as we move forward. He left setting things for a promising future, and that's one of the great achievements any man can do. And yet I could say the same for both. It's one thing to say you'll miss him, another thing to note that he accomplished things in life many others never did. So for that, he lived a full life.

I really hope that this is not the end of Apple, I'm really used to every Apple product and I couldn't live without them now.

RIP genius :(

Wow. Just wow.

I guess it turns out his appearance before the Cupertino City Council in June to talk about his plans for the new Apple campus was truly his last.

This is very similar to Disney losing Walt in 1966. Will the company ever be the same?

I got a screwed up MacTech email when it happened where the title said "Steve Jobs Passes Away" and the content was auto-generated. I truly thought they were just preparing for it and accidentally sent the email out.

Sadly, I found out quickly that was not the case. I have to admit that it hit me harder than I expected. I don't consider myself a fanboy, and I am definitely critical of Apple and its products (and Steve) whenever I felt they cut a corner or took the iron-fist approach.

Remembering the days when apple was going downhill, when he came back as interim CEP, how excited I was about Rhapsody rumors, having a "paper ipod" on my desk at work, how I used to take a later lunch to go to the apple store to watch the keynotes when they used to have them in there. It is definitely the end of an era that was not just about products, but the drama and story of a company and a founder.

I have no doubt Apple will continue to succeed, but it will no longer have a focal point that everybody can rally around, a figure that would inspire and delight. Whenever anybody goes on stage to introduce anything (like we just had with the iPhone 4S), it will always be compared to Steve's shows, and none will ever match him.

RIP Steve Jobs. :(

seems fitting

Rest in Peace Steve. You are an inspiration and have changed not only the world but my world. From all the apple community... 'we love you'. Thanks for the amazing innovation and daring to think different. Here's to the crazy one. Sent from my iPad. :apple:

I can't believe he's gone. He had such an impact on me as a person ever since the first Apple II that I used.

I feel exactly the same way, I was 8 when I started programing BASIC into my first Apple ][+. When Steve was with Apple, it impacted my life (coincidentally I didn't do much with Apple for most of the 90's during his absence).

May Steve rest in peace.

Rest in peace, Steve Jobs. You were a visionary and you had a goal. That goal has been unleashed throughout everything that you have done for the technology part of our modern society, and I will forever thank you for that. :) :apple:

It's peculiar how loss triggers flash backs and memories. Only now am I remembering the day when I was first introduced to the world of Apple. That having taken place five years ago when I received the 1st Generation of the iPod Nano.

If I could travel back in time and warn my younger self about what would happen on this sad day of October in 2011, I definitely would. :(

Once again, rest in peace. Thank you for everything.

One more thing compilation...

Thanks for that link. It shows a part of Steve that endeared him to me: his terrific showmanship combined with his love of new technology. He always presented Apple's creations with a sort of awe, as if he couldn't believe his company had actually made it.

We have lost an amazing person.

Let's hope his vision was instilled in those around him at Apple. I'm sure it was. We still have a few more years of products that were inspired by him. Sad day but nothing is permanent. The great illusion is that we all think this will go on forever.

R.I.P. Steve

RIP the greatest, but even Steve had a sense of humor in darkest days so please no one take offense

I guess an apple a day doesn't keep the doctor away

I thought Macs couldn't get viruses!

Pancreatic Cancer? I knew PC would be the death of him.

Siri, is there a heaven?

This recession is getting pretty bad, I hear everyone at Apple has lost their Jobs

Steve Jobs is survived by his brother, Han

Steve Jobs has gone... TO THE CLOUD!

"This iPhone 4S press conference will be a success, I'd bet my life on it!"- Steve Jobs

:)

Thanks mate!
I am sure he would have liked that...

Steve Jobs

Steve, A truly inspirational human, with his vision and leadership Apple have touched the lives of many around the world. Thank you Steve for turning your visions into the tools that make my daily life more connected. RIP Steve.:apple:

His body may be gone, but his soul, spirit and most importantly legacy live on. They will live in all of us, and everyone who touches and Apple product. Steve's memory and impact will live on, longer than any of us.

A truly great mind, gone too soon.

RIP Steve Jobs
To me you made everything mobile sexy, fun and actually useful.
I hope Apple will continu your legacy.
