I can remember being in 5th grade and playing with a Macintosh for the first time. My parents had an Apple IIe at the time, but the Macintosh was something magical to myself and my classmates. I can remember spending countless hours after school in the "computer lab" playing with the Macintosh. It was also the first time I heard of Steve Jobs.
As I grew up, my family grew up on the Apple platform and all we had were Mac's: the SE30, the Performa series, then the iMac's, etc. I can still remember seeing the iPod for the first time in person while working on the slope in Alaska and was marveled by how much music one could have in the palm of their hand. I immediately bought one with my next paycheck and still have it; it works flawlessly.
About that time, five years ago, I found this site and have been reading Macrumors everyday, religiously. It may sound crazy, but a new product release from Apple reminds me of waking up on Christmas when I was little to see what type of presents were awaiting me. I remember buying an iPhone 3G (I did not get the first iPhone) and was un utter awe. The fact that I could be connected anywhere I went and have everything in my palm was something new. Even today, I am still amazed at how much the iPhone itself has changed my life, and for that matter, how much it has changed the world.
Steve Jobs has done so much and his achievements will be remembered far after I am gone. My condolences go out to his family and friends, as the world has truely lost one of the greatest individuals of our generation. His foresight and gambles as to what consumers wanted will never be matched and I truely believe his vision for Apple will carry on for years to come.
Steve, thanks for the countless memories and the countless more to come.
