Its hard to put into words what a loss this is because its hard to put into words all the people in the world that Steve had an impact on.

A man who truly changed the world, and will continue to through all of the innovators he has inspired.

Thank you Steve, may Apple live on in your image.

Listening to Bob Dylan here and remembering your awesome keynotes!

Three apples changed the world forever. One seduced Eve, one fell on Newton & the last was offered to the world by Steve Jobs

Since childhood i had heard of Apple products being visionary and magical. After growing up a bit i realized it was really true. Soon this truth became an excitement, a wish and even a habit. Every time a product launch would be organized by Apple an unknown energy would flow through me.

But the question arises will this excitement remain in your absence?

Thank you for everything Steve.

RIP.

According to CNN and NY Times obituaries about Jobs, Jobs' biological father is Syrian. I didn't know Steve Jobs is half Syrian! Indeed Jobs was an interesting characters.

The death of Steve is definitely one of those moments in history where everyone remembers what they were doing when they heard Steve died, same with man landing on the moon, Kennedy getting shot, Lennon getting shot and Elvis dying and of course 9/11

5th October 2011 is one of those days in history that will never be forgotten the world over

I can remember being in 5th grade and playing with a Macintosh for the first time. My parents had an Apple IIe at the time, but the Macintosh was something magical to myself and my classmates. I can remember spending countless hours after school in the "computer lab" playing with the Macintosh. It was also the first time I heard of Steve Jobs.

As I grew up, my family grew up on the Apple platform and all we had were Mac's: the SE30, the Performa series, then the iMac's, etc. I can still remember seeing the iPod for the first time in person while working on the slope in Alaska and was marveled by how much music one could have in the palm of their hand. I immediately bought one with my next paycheck and still have it; it works flawlessly.

About that time, five years ago, I found this site and have been reading Macrumors everyday, religiously. It may sound crazy, but a new product release from Apple reminds me of waking up on Christmas when I was little to see what type of presents were awaiting me. I remember buying an iPhone 3G (I did not get the first iPhone) and was un utter awe. The fact that I could be connected anywhere I went and have everything in my palm was something new. Even today, I am still amazed at how much the iPhone itself has changed my life, and for that matter, how much it has changed the world.

Steve Jobs has done so much and his achievements will be remembered far after I am gone. My condolences go out to his family and friends, as the world has truely lost one of the greatest individuals of our generation. His foresight and gambles as to what consumers wanted will never be matched and I truely believe his vision for Apple will carry on for years to come.

Steve, thanks for the countless memories and the countless more to come.

He changed our lives for the better

I didn't know him personally, but his spark and innovation created a legacy that changed our world and will not be forgotten. Because of :apple: Apple, my husband and I were able to begin an indie iPhone dev business that has changed our lives in so many positive ways. We've been challenged. We've grown. Heartfelt thanks goes to the man who started it all and inspired us. Steve, we have your family in our thoughts and prayers.

he transcends

i am a microsoft/.NET developer, have been my entire 12-year career. still ive been a mac fan since the days i first used an ][e, playing w/ MacPaint. then later writing my first high school paper on a mac classic (that monkey chime was wonderful). it seemed so futuristic. and later still working in my university's computer labs, supporting both platforms. today my household is entirely Apple including my .NET dev machines, which virtualize on a MBP.

Jobs was a man i can never know, but of course feel like i do. his work set the stage for so many of us bit players. for this i am grateful.

thank you to Andy Hertzfeld for documenting his time at Apple and with Steve here:

My few words for Steve Jobs, paraphrasing one of his most memorable speeches. Here's to you, Steve. You were the crazy one, the one crazy enough to believe he could change the world, and talented enough to actually do it. Thank you for teaching so many of us to think different. "Stay hungry, stay foolish."

Thank you, Steve. You changed the world. You had a significant impact on my life and the lives of billions.

I'll never forget meeting you.

Such sadness

I know that Steve Jobs was a visionary and an amazing creator. He shaped the way I live my life and I will forever be grateful. R.I.P.

The world has truly lost a creative visionary, icon, legend. Whatever you want to call him, Steve Jobs was one of a kind and Apple, and indeed the world is a poorer place without him.

Thank you for all you did Steve.

No Wonder

Now I understand why the iphone keynote was so devoid of energy. I can't even imagine having to get on stage to cheerfully promote a new product while knowing that Steve was dying at that very same moment. I applaud the professionalism of the Apple speakers that got on stage for that and my heart and prayers go out to Steve's family, friends, and colleagues. The world has changed today.
