A big loss indeed. He truly revolutionized technology.

What a shame... so young, recently retired... it would've been great for him to watch his company being run by his successor from another perspective, enjoy life, enjoy his family, relax, perhaps take his genius to other arenas such as philanthropy as Bill Gates has, and grow old... too bad.

RIP.

I encourage you to watch Steve's last keynote from this year's WWDC. He just didn't seem like himself, I didn't really realize it at the time but his health must have been very bad at this point. We're talking June 6th- less than four months ago. Even when the iPad 2 was announced, he seemed a lot more healthy.

Link.

let's please have a public memorial

To Steve's family and the fine people at Apple:

We, your loyal fans and customers, offer our most sincere condolences. There's a lot going for you now, so I'll get to the point.

We respectfully request some sort of public memorial. How about taking one victory lap in the hearse up 280? Or somewhere public where we could hold out our iPhones, iPads, iPods, laptops, and every other incredible device you guys ever made- all in one final salute to Steve. And to say thank you. We'll bring the flowers. You keep the rest of the services private. We understand.

And 280 seems logistically appropriate-- it's big, scenic, lots of room at every exit, and bridges. It's been the symbolic backbone of the valley for all these years. It feels like the right place to say goodbye.

Now more than ever we need a few more Steve Job's in this world. RIP.

Is Wozniak's statement online?

When I clicked on my MacRumors bookmark, and the page loaded, i froze for a few seconds, and i swear, in that moment there was no sound, nowhere to be heard.

And to all Atheists: please don't make this thread a discussion place for your disbelieve. Some people believe in god, some don't, you have your opinion, others their own. Don't address them if they say something religiously relevant, just because you think it's nonsense.

Very sad day!

What is he gonna say? "That prick cheated me of half my company, I am so glad he is dead?"

RIP

Saving a seat for you.

You made a difference in so many ways. The intensity and passion of you character will keep changing those who had even a glimpse of your life. RIP

How very sad. You will be missed Steve, even by those who never met you. My heart goes out to Steve's family and friends.

Anyone else on the verge of tears? :(

I watched iJustine's video on her iPhone YouTube channel and it was really sad. She was really crying. It's so weird that a person that none of us knew personally, could have such a huge impact on our lives.

I say we do some sort of silent vigil at every Apple store worldwide.

Steve's legacy will remain forever and certainly in my life. The sad news was already a downer and now I'm at an apple store trying to get my unclocked phone fixed. The staff are saying it's not unclocked and won't help. In cases like this it, at times emailing jobs was a solution. Sadly that isn't an option anymore.

How about tcook@apple.com? It might work.

My family and I feel very fortunate to have lived in a time where we got to experience first hand his visionary genius and our lives have changed for the better because of him. Thank you Steve, and may you rest in peace.
