To the man who knew the genius inside of him was to be shared in order to unleash the genius that is in all of us, Rest in sublime peace......and thank you.

:( As soon as I heard, I knew I was going to the Apple Store with flowers and a candle. I just kinda had to.

As it turned out, I had an apple candle on hand--that is, a candle in a holder shaped like an apple. It was meant to be. So I went to 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica. There were already some white roses. I set down my purple flowers, lit the apple candle and that became the memorial.

Several news reporters were there asking us how we felt, why Apple, and what we thought Steve Jobs had done and meant. Other people came by leaving some flowers, other candles. One woman stopped with her son and cried; another girl stood by looking devastated. Most apt, I think, was the guy with the skateboard who took his earbuds out of his phone and set them down with the candles and flowers.

The world should be devastated, we just lost one of our best guys today. Goodbye SJ.

People were wondering why there was no "one more thing" yesterday... now we know. That line will be retired. We'll miss you SJ.

I cannot help not to be shocked although I knew he was very sick. Rest in peace Steve. We will all miss you.

From Goethe's Faust:

Alles Vergängliche
Ist nur ein Gleichnis;
Das Unzulängliche,
Hier wird's Ereignis;
Das Unbeschreibliche,
Hier ist's getan;
Das Ewigweibliche
Zieht uns hinan.

Everything temporary
is only a metaphor;
The unachievable
Here comes to pass;
The indescribable
Here is accomplished;
Eternal peace and love
draws us ever onward.

RIP Steve

iMourn

I’ve lost loved ones and acquaintances, coworkers and pets. But I’ve never lost a hero.

Most heroes were gone before they reached that status.

We never met, but I know that Steve and I loved many of the same things. That was our common ground. But we were not equals. I loved and used the things we loved. He imagined them, engineered them, and built them for me.

I don’t know if he knew how I thought and organized, or if he taught me how to think and organize. I think it was the latter. It just clicked. It just worked for me.

My modest successes are linked to the tools that he provided. It's hard to imagine work- and life- without those tools.

It's hard to imagine the magnitude of this loss.

Thanks, Steve.

And best wishes, Apple. Keep up the great work.

RIP Mr. steve :apple: jobs your in a better place... thanks for everything you have done to the tech world and for business all over the world. your ideas and visions will be missed.

RIP Steve Jobs.

I feel honoured to have lived in your time and to grow up with your inventions surrounding me.

You're way up there with some of the great minds and that is how you shall be remembered.

i dont think his death could have gone any better he new he was going to die and had time to prepare apple for life after he was gone you can never ever say this guy was selfish usually when you know you're in danger of death you go to the hospital to get better not get on stage and do keynotes and run the company like nothing was wrong

R.I.P Steve Jobs February 24th 1955 - October 5th 2011you will be forever missed

It is good to be here - next best thing to being at an Apple store.

I am grateful for all of the ways Steve Jobs changed our world - and my world. His products are integrated into every corner of my life.

Even more, I am grateful for his example. He led a big life with integrity and vision. He was a genius in part because he was very fully himself. I will try to honor him by following his example in my own small ways.

Thank you Steve!! Life well lived!
