"The body is mortal, but the person dwelling in the body is immortal and immeasurable." - Bhagavad Gita

RIP Steve.

Steve, you have been a huge inspiration to myself and many others. The legacy that you have created and the joy you have brought to those in the Apple family are unparalleled. I hope for peace for your family in their time of grieving. I hope to continue to live my life by your words: Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish. We will miss you :apple:

Constant reminders of a different vision...

It is quite amazing that the death of one individual can have such a wide spread impact. His influence is both global and personal: so many of us use products or services that he helped create or champion, and each of us use them everyday. I cannot help but be reminded of this as I type on my MBAir, read a book on my iPad, and check to see what songs I want to purchase on iTunes. Whether you agreed or disagreed with his style, you have to admit he was a true visionary.

Although thousands of people contribute to Apple's success, Steve Jobs was the very public face of the company, and represented what the company stood for. I am reminded of when Jim Henson of the Muppets died, and the magazine cover of Jim Henson's empty chair and a forlorn Kermit the Frog.

The only other celebrated person who died that I felt genuinely sad was Jack Layton, the NDP leader who died recently. He told all Canadians in his final message that, "... love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair..." I think it is fair to say that Steve Jobs was an optimist - one driven to improve what he could influence.

Rest in peace Mr. Jobs. :apple:

All I can say is thanks.
You will truly be missed.
What an honor to watch all these amazing inventions you spearheaded appear before us and make our lives better and more fun.
Where ever you are hope you feel all the love that is being sent to you.

Been a while, macrumors.

RIP Steve, 6 years ago I got my first mac. Haven't looked back once. Thanks for the hard work. I'm glad I'll be able to say I lived in Steve Jobs's time.

I am not normally saddened by death. I usually always look at the positives such as what a great life they had etc. However even of all the amazing things Steve did, I cannot comprehend the lost potential that the world has suffered as a result of cancer today. Steve was not a one hit wonder. He wasn't the guy that did that thing. His achievements absolutely dwarf those of others.

If it was not for that illness, we would have a few more decades like the one past still to come. Steve was really just getting into gear.

There will be other people who change the world, but I am not sure I will ever think so fondly of someone I don't know.

Gone are the days of staying up late (in my timezone) for apple keynotes held by Steve Jobs. Gone are the days of watching in awe at how remarkable his conviction was.

At least for the time being we can all head to our local "house of jobs" and acknowledge all that he did for us. Who knows where Apple will go from here. Larger organisations have collapsed.

Just think of the potential he still had.

So shocked and sad

This sucks so much. Although I knew his time was about to come, not being at the keynote was a give away. I somehow had hopes he would remain with Apple in the background for many years. I just cannot believe it.
Thank you Steve for the Mac and all things "i".
Rest in Peace my hero, thank you for shaping the technology we use today into something mere mortals can use.

My Steve Jobs vision moment that I will never forget is when I recently gave my 58 yr old mother her first piece of technology by way of an iPad2. She was up and running with an email and playing game within a span of ten minutes. All WITHOUT a manual to read. Amazing vison!

R.I.P Steve P Jobs

I wish we could go back in time.. With all honesty I can't see an Apple without Steve Jobs.. Who knows what'll happen to Apple.. I know it's a team effort but still... I don't know if anyone else would make bold and risky decisions that Steve made..

He will be missed

Thank You

Being notified of his death on a device he imagined
is truly a testament of his achievement.

Thank You Steve

Steve, it's been a true honour and a privilege to witness your amazing and wonderful contribution to the world... Thank you. RIP

Thanks Steve

From Mexico I have to thank you for making me think different and never lose faith. You changed the world. I will pray for you today :,( :apple:

Submitted today

Today I submitted my very first app for approval to the company I have grown to love, on the very day its visionary head has now left the building.

To Steve Jobs' family, friends, and companies, praying for you and your future health during this sad time of passing.

Thank you Steve!

Um.. NO IT'S NOT!
Yes I'm sadden like all of us here and said Nooooo! like 5 or 6 times However 9-11 was FAR WORSE!

Steve died of natural causes. 9/11 was a day when a group of terrorists intentionally killed thousands of people. The two incidents can't be compared, because they are totally different.

"Only the good die young." Dear Steve, thank you. Thank you for everything.

I heard this sometime, somewhere.

The God needs good people more than we need it here in this world.
But why Steve Jobs....

I lost my Mysterious friend... can't sleep....

saddest day of my life.....
