Why has it been called a "mock" turtleneck? I never got that. What does it lack to a genuine turtleneck? Is it because it only extends partially up the neck?

Steve Jobs will be missed

I myself loved Steve Jobs.He might of been tough with his employees, but he got the job finished. Many of those employees are sitting huge stock assets right now.

Thanks Casey Mahoney

I wear a "uniform" to work every day -- black Haggar flat-front microfiber slacks (I have multiple pairs of the same slacks), a Ralph Lauren Polo shirt (I have over 30 of them in a huge variety of colors), black Goldtoe socks, and black Rockport Margin Oxford shoes (again, I own a few pairs and can easily order new shoes from Amazon).

I just don't like having to think too much about what I am going to wear to work.

I was not following Apple or SJ when it happened.......

Did he just suddenly switch from suits to his "uniform" or was there a transition period?

Didn't Einstein do something similar, ie just wear the same clothes to save mental energy worrying about what clothes to wear? Or was that just an urban myth?
You know, I've heard the same story on a few occasions.
I couldn't say one way or another if it is fact or not, though.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_5 like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8L1 Safari/6533.18.5)

I like the idea of wearing same uniform everyday. It's like wearing scrubs. Makes getting dressed in the am a lot easier.

That would mean he would need to do wash (if he did them all at once) about 4 times a year.. that's nothing.
I'm betting he had someone to do that for him. Just a guess. And they didn't wait until 25 of them were dirty.

"Stacked up in the closet" doesn't mean a giant heap of dirty turtlenecks. It most likely were "cubbies" with folded stacks of them for him to grab at everyday.

He could be classy... check out Steve in a Tuxedo.

They should sell all his turtle necks on Ebay and raise enough funds to fund the next iPhone

Apple doesn't need any funds for anything. They have 60+ billion in the bank. I wish they would put more people to work in this country instead of China.

They would still make a disgustingly high profit overall. :p

re original article

levis - when i die - i hope to be laid to rest in my most trusted pair

used to only wear 501s now i wear various 501 variants

hate wearing slacks

Such a simple uniform that created an iconic image, much as the iPod, and iPhone has. What else is there to say?

On a side note.

We all know that Apple will be holding a day of remembrance for Steve Jobs on Wednesday October the 19th.

I'm gathering like minded Apple folk to join at the BJ's brewhouse and pizza bar in the Apple parking lot for honoring Steve's memory.

I'm figuring drinks, food, laughs, gadgets, gizmos, great apple memories, and raising the celling on how many apple fans/nerds/geeks can squeeze into the cupertino area

Wednesday October 19th BJ's Brewhouse, in front of Apple Inc. HQ from open to close.

Come join if you can.

This is not spam, just an Apple minded person trying to gather people in honor of a Legend.

If I lived in California, I'd SO be there.

I really wish they and other companies would do this. Any company that is consistantly has extra money each quarter should be working to move the money back to the US and putting people here to work.

Awesome

That is awesome.

It's good timing, cause I needed to be cheered up. One of the posts from last week which claimed that sjobs@apple.com is still answering e-mails was funny, too.
