Remarkable, haha.

A lot of my architecture professors wore the same black outfit every day, too. I never asked them why, but I suspect they considered dressing to be a design problem that, once solved, did not require revisiting. As to why black...I didn't ask them that either, but it was probably the same reason they (and Jobs) liked Modernist design--an absence of color is minimalist in a way.

Um...washing 100 shirts (and what about the jeans?) 4 times a year is still an undertaking. Consider that a typical washing machine would take 10 shirts at a time...30 mins per wash...that's 300 mins or 5 hours just to wash. Then each drying cycle would take about 50 mins...or 500 mins just to dry...about 8 hours. So 13 hours each "wash", and "wash" 4 times a year. :) Again, that's just shirts.

I would not want to sit around my house for 13 hours washing shirts...even if it was only 4 times a year. Of course he could have numerous machines and/or people to do his laundry. :)

This idea made me laugh out loud. Thank you.
But don't you think if he had spent 13 hours washing shirts, for sure, he would have created an Apple washing machine that made the job so much easier. ;)

Interesting. I wear essentially the same 'style' all the time. It means I don't have to bother wasting thought on what I'm going to wear. I've got more important things to think about.

I have worn the same hoodie for over a year now. I don't do it to save time though, but it does save time.

The story of Jobs's "uniform" is like 20 years old, people. It was even in an unauthorized biography published in the early 1990s. One of the friendlier ones. Not Steve Jobs and The Next Big Thing.

Steve: "Siri, start my washing machine..."

I started wearing black a lot after a girl I liked told me "Hey, you know, you look good in black."

Done and done.

501's. The original and still the best jeans in the world. Steve had great taste in jeans. He knew that you can't beat the real thing.

10 years ago... yes... today? NO.

These poor jeans are no longer made in America and no longer have the same quality. Bummer too.

as in Mr. Magorium's wonder imporium?

LOL NO.

The Karate Kid.... the original not the will smiths son remix from like last year.

That's Mr. Miyagi. This is Mr. Magoo:

That being said I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

Honoring Steve

Such a simple uniform that created an iconic image, much as the iPod, and iPhone has. What else is there to say?

On a side note.

We all know that Apple will be holding a day of remembrance for Steve Jobs on Wednesday October the 19th.

I'm gathering like minded Apple folk to join at the BJ's brewhouse and pizza bar in the Apple parking lot for honoring Steve's memory.

I'm figuring drinks, food, laughs, gadgets, gizmos, great apple memories, and raising the celling on how many apple fans/nerds/geeks can squeeze into the cupertino area

Wednesday October 19th BJ's Brewhouse, in front of Apple Inc. HQ from open to close.

Come join if you can.

This is not spam, just an Apple minded person trying to gather people in honor of a Legend.

I feel like all these excerpts from the book will take away a lot from the first read of the biography.

I don't want to read it thinking "oh I've read all this somewhere before" - I don't usually care about finding out leaks about a product before it's announced usually, but this is somehow getting to me! I suppose it's a bit like finding out about the ending of a film before watching it...

I imagine he only wore those when he was doing his job as a CEO, and not during his personal life. Are there any photos of him wearing anything else? It's actually hard to imagine...

Actually, you can buy America-made 501s but they're like $180 per pair. The quality should be top-notch as they are hand-sewn.

The regular 501s are made overseas, probably China these days -- maybe $45 online at the usual places (Amazon, etc.). Indeed, the quality of those isn't as good as the old U.S.-made 501s.

In a way, it's like visiting MacRumors before an Apple product announcement.

;) :p :D

I do the same

I do the same thing. I am not saying I am in the same class as him (far far from it) but I hate worrying about wardrobe. For work, I have about 35 Brooks Brothers Polo shirts. My wife drops em off at the dry cleaners once a month. Been doing that for about 10 years now. Occasionally I have a "laundry day" where I dont have one to wear, and all my clients comment on it every time. "You look different today Chuck, what is it?"

Polo, jeans, Steel toed boots, sunglasses perched up on my head. Its like my uniform. Really relieves me from thinking about what I am going to wear, though sometimes I do choose color based on mood. Its just easy, and I dont get any complaints about how I look.

The excerpts are teasers. But a few of those neat little things will be spoiled as they tease us more.
