Yo Briana, I am actually curious about your experience with the Desire (it's basically a slightly lower-end version of the Incredible, right?) Where can we read about your (biased?) experience?

I am actually looking to dump my 3Gs and jump on the Android bandwagon, but want something with a larger screen and OS 2.2. The EVO looks promising, but it's 2.1 and I am hoping for Tegra2 or Atom D6 in a few months.

Hi Mate,

If you are interested check out my twitter feed, username is bryanwebster. Tweets from about a week ago....it is not a full write up, just random tweets as and when I used the device etc. Not at all biased. I did actually say on one tweet "Back on the iPhone for the day because I need my Tom Tom. The screen is terrible compared to the htc desires screen."

The HTC Desire is considered to be the best android phone currently in the UK, it is like the nexus one but a bit better.

Regards.

What. Is this the pissin in your alphabet soup discussion or something about Steve Jobs' new hobby of playing email at almost-twitter-speeds ?

Back on track puhaleezzz.:p

We won't be disappointed is good for me.:)

I think the guy just tried to sound cool. Though I do agree, using foul language usually isn't going to aid your cause.

No it is not. Nevertheless, since HDTV is an acronym, you pronounce it by spelling the individual letters. Since the letter "h" is spelled starting with the sound of letter "a," it is perfectly correct to use an indefinite article an in front of HDTV.

Yeah I was curious so I looked it up...sounds like both are acceptable as it seems to be a debate about if one is right or wrong...but glad somebody said something as it is an interesting debate among people with too much time on their hands.

There is your point of view then there is reality.

I'm sure Apple's new iPhone is going to rock. But there's a couple big things they're really behind on:

1. Carrier. AT&T sucks, but you knew that.
AT&T works fine for millions of people. There is no proof that Verizon or Sprint could handle the data demands of the average iPhone user. Further if you want a worldwide GSM phone AT&Tis the only choice in the USA.
2. Cloud services. Here's where Apple is really lagging behind Android (and possibly even WebOS/HP). They've had a basic infrastructure for years with Dot Mac/Mobile Me but they've let it languish.
You sound like you are out of touch here. The underlying libraries that power Mobile Me (Sproutcore) have only recently made it to version one. Plus the Mobile Me Web Mail client is in beta which is a major overhaul. On top of all of this there have been a number of quite updates to MobileMe.
Never really fixed it or expanded it (syncing iDisk is still to this day nototiously slow and buggy with frequent and unhelpful "Sync failed, please try again later" messages).
I actually agree with this one. IDisk is a good idea with a very poor implementation.
They need to make Mobile Me a free, built-in service for all iPhoneOS devices and get their crap together.
Nope not at all!!! The whole point in paying for Mobile Me is that I'm the customer not some advertiser at Google. It is well worth it for me to keep my account out of that situation.
Additionally, they need to move quickly to over the air syncing and drop the dependence on the iTunes/desktop PC umbilical cord. I understand some of the business reasons they want to hold onto this model, but it feels like a desperate move.
Explain yourself. My calendars contacts and other stuff sync fine over the air to Mobile Me.
Clinging to the past has never served Apple well, and it certainly won't with mobile devices. They have the resources and infrastructure to do cloud services and wireless syncing well, but they need to really commit to it 100%.

Can things be improved, sure but syncing has not been a problem and really hasn't been since they ironed out a few kinks some time ago. If you are talking about iTunes music files and such give me a break, it is hardly a problem to connect a USB cable once in awhile to load new musicor a video on the devices.

I just don't think your whine is justified here.

seriously, this is front-page "news"? geez, will every response by steve become a headliner? tell us something we don't know...

For the love of God, everything posted by MacRumors these days gets one of these responses. No one's forcing anyone to read the stuff here. If this stuff isn't to your liking, there are plenty of other Mac sites. I doubt Arn and his crew are going to stop posting these kinds of stories.

Will the announcements be as MAGICAL as the giant iPod Touch? Errr I mean iPad. Who the hell leaves on "sent from my iPhone". Clownish.

I find it silly as well. I put "Sent From Mobile" at the bottom of my iPod email signatures and will do the same when I buy the iPhone. All they need to know is that I'm on the move when I sent the email - what device it comes from isn't necessary. I'm a grown man with no need to draw attention to the phone that I'm using. My boss leaves "Sent via Blackberry by AT&T" on his mobile signature and it drives me crazy.

i can answer since im on android 2.2. the desire incredible and evo internally are the same phone with 512 ram 1ghz processor. the incredible and evo both sport a 8mp camera.

let me say im a apple users first and like it better than android. but i will be unbiased. the htc sense UI is some pretty eye candy thats whats on the desire incredible and evo. the issue with android is the UI is slow at times and ive often had to reset my nexus one bcuz of it. from what i gather if your into the specs game android will be for you. it will give the highest specs and most features but not implemented well. the nexus one will be the only 2.2 device until second half of the year. HTC is slow at updating their sense ui with androids updates. also the n1 has same specs as evo except 8 mp camera and front cam and 4.3 screen. this may not be to helpful to you. but im sure if you ask more specific questions i can give u better answers. and just to be clear once you have used one htc sense ui device you have used them all. the only difference is device shape and screen size. ive used the hero, desire, incredible and nexus one.

cloud services...

I hate to be a harbinger of doom but cloud services will be the least desirable of services in the future. As capitalism as an socio-economic society fails so will the Internet and it's related services fail. Being the target of future generations of repressed people local based storage systems will prevail...I know it sounds fantastical, but look at the history of the planet and tell me it ain't so...I'm sure Apple's new iPhone is going to rock. But there's a couple big things they're really behind on:

AT&T really only sucks as much as anyone else, they all run off each others towers...

You Won't Be Disappointed

This is a not merely a prediction of peoples response to the announcement, it's a direct order from Steve Jobs.

You Won't Be Disappointed.

(and on the count of three you'll be back in the room, one, two, three...)

I am not sure what is different between the htc sense ui and vanilla android ui but i still didn't think it was anything pretty. What was pretty about the phone is the high res screen but some of the apps are just dreadful, with little or no thought gone into design. even from "main players" like twitter and spotify who's iPhone apps are much more aesthetically pleasing.

It's people like Bryan that gives people who like Apple products a bad name. Fanboys....reminding you that a competitive marketplace is what drives innovation...

1. Subjective, at best and is going to be considerably back haul improved across the nation.

2. Apple's building a multi-billion dollar facility in North Carolina for starters.

It is likely that there is a hardware decoder in A4.

May be he is introducing MBA with A4 chip in it :) After, WWDC, we will see a bunch of netbooks with ARM chip from other manufacturers
You won't see an A4 in a Mac as the primary processor,it simply isn't powerful enough.
Edit: I do have a MBA rev a, it can't even play Video properly. iPad does.

YES but why? The ARM A8 core can't do it on its own so the speculation is that a hardware decoder is built into A4. It would make sense since other Touch devices have such decoders.
One thing is clear Apple did a great job of optimizing iPhone OS toget the responsiveness seen in the device. I was actually hoping for more info on A4 by now. You can talk all you want about the leaks of the next iPhone but the iron curtain around A4 is still tight. Probably a good thing too because A4 appears to be a key advantage for Apple.

The apps are very dreadful. And here inn California the amoled screen is horrid. sense ui is prettier than vanilla android. If u can look online and look at the ui of the nexus one and then look at the ui of the desire, hero, incredible, and the evo. The ui diffrenece u see if the sense ui vs vanilla ui. Personal preferences the sense ui looks better than vanilla. But like u said the apps are dreadful and the ui itself is not smooth. Even on 2.2 I notice a tiny speed difference. But to googles credit that browser is blazing fast.

Well, we need some way to use the iPhone and iPad without a computer, a good web service could do just that. iAd based free service would be cool.

Seriously. You need a computer to use an ipad...so ass backwards.

They need to rethink this itunes thing rather than just keep tacking more **** onto it.

I spent a Summer in the US and was amused at the small-mindedness of those who condemned the use of curse words yet took their children to shooting ranges to hone their skills with a deadly weapon, got high and mighty about free speech, and thought capital punishment was underused.

If he wants to curse it's his choice, if you don't like it, piss off.

Odd that you would use the phrase "small-mindedness" and then proceed to slag anyone with an opinion different from your own.
