My best to Steve and his family, as well as the larger Apple community that he has touched with his amazing talent.

It was a great era with Steve, but remember guys, they still have some of the best designers like Jonny Ive and Tim Cook will be a great replacement. While he isn't a Steve Jobs, I hope he does share the same visions for future products with Steve. All the best!

Sorry, but that's actually naive thinking.....he was Apple. It's one of those things that doesn't tie in with business school thinking and case studies. Whatever he did just worked at apple, it shouldn't have, but it did.

I don't think Apple will be the same again to be honest.

And could be the reason why iphone is coming to so many carriers. A last gift or something

Why not wait for this weekend? Why not wait until Friday, and allow Wall Street to absorb it over the weekend so the stock doesn't take such a hit?

I think the answer is Steve is going to die soon, and they weren't sure they could wait until Friday. And I think that's why they moved up the release date of his biography.

This sucks. He's perhaps the greatest visionary, entrepreneur, CEO, and visionary our country has ever seen.

Godammit.

sadly i think hes dying.

theres also a official biography coming out. its like hes giving out his obituary before he passes the torch.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8H7)

I don't really keep up with this kind of stuff. What illness does steve have?

if the products that were recently released are any indication of success without steve jobs, I can rest assured and say that Apple is in good hands with his successor.

Nothing is more important than health and family; he's already contributed so much good to this industry, he deserves a long, long, peaceful time off.

I'm assuming it's health related but at the same time the man knows when to throw in the towel. I'd like to know when I can get a bluray drive in my MBP?

:D

PS - this is such a well timed exit. iPhone 5 right around the corner and boom, stock prices soar again!

Nooooooooooooooo! Knew this day was coming but it's still a shock when it finally happens. Nobody can replace Steve.

It's naive to think a company this big will go downhill just because the CEO has stepped aside. It sounds like you never had faith in the company in the first place.

Congratulations to Tim Cook. I'm sure he will continue to do an excellent job.

It will be a bit sad not having any more Steve Jobs keynotes. I'd almost suggest they buy Peter Molyneux to give the keynotes if Molyneux hadn't turned himself into the king of overhype over the last few years.

Bets on how far Apple stock tanks tomorrow?

( I think they will do fine, but this will cause panic short term with the stock. Tomorow might be one of the best days to buy, shrug.)
