Bets on how far Apple stock tanks tomorrow?

( I think they will do fine, but this will cause panic short term with the stock. Tomorow might be one of the best days to buy, shrug.)

It already tanking $20 aftermarket.

Every now and then, I still reminisce about my Apple II computer. Thanks for all the memories. Best to you, Steve. May you make many more personal memories for a hopefully long retirement.

Wow, besides iPods and iPhone, I am fairly new to the Apple community (bought my first Mac last year, an iMac) and about a month ago a MBA. Just found out about this on my local newspaper's Facebook Page. I didn't expect this at all, I know he has been ill for a long time, but still. My best wishes for you Steve! Thank you for your perfectionism, revolutionary ideas and always going the extra mile.

Maybe with steve finally gone apple will open up to some of the options that android and bb have offered users and remove the stick from their asses. See ya steve! Bring on the change!

War Eagle, Tim Cook!

Godspeed, Steve Jobs. You proved a small, niche company can rule the business world by innovating and taking risks. I hope more companies (and CEOs) follow your example.

I think AAPL will hit 350 tomorrow, hard to call what the bottom will be.

Also, best of luck for the future Steve.

Wow with Steve gone will that mean we will get Flash on iOS devices? Blu-Ray on Mac?

Also who has Tim Cook's email? We gotta have it so we can complain to him everytime Apple announces a new product.

I was quite touched that he asked the board to continue as chair and as "an Apple employee."

I hope he will have many years to enjoy his new role.

Now, if I can get hold of my financial advisor tomorrow before the stock goes back up again......

Steve has served the world well. Leading in innovation without it who knows were we would be with out him

Steve will carry on as chairman so its not all bad

Steve you legend

I just hope he gave Tim Cook the keys to the RDF.

The RDF doesn't exist when you're the one creating the reality for everyone else.

Your comment is the kind of crass **** I'd expect from basement-dwellers on Neowin. But maybe that's your calibre.

Lisa and Mac have changed my life...

Thx Steve, for everything…I will always be grateful. You have truly changed the world.

Be well,

Jeff

hp now steve jobs hell what a couple of weeks this has been well hope he rests up and enjoys life

For God's sake people are talking about Wall Street overreacting. Just look at this thread! Almost everyone on here is certain that he is going to die within a matter of weeks! He's probably decided that he's dedicated enough of his life and energy to being CEO of Apple. If he was about to die, he wouldn't stay on as chairman. Also, as great as he was Steve Jobs is NOT Apple. He's obviously given much thought to his succession plan and he's stated before that he is completely confident in Apple's ability to run without him. We will continue to see great iPhones, Macs, iPads, and iPods, for years to come, with or without Steve. I wish him all the best, and I also wish that people would settle down about this news.

He did state his wish to continue to chair the board. So we may still continue to see some of his influence on the company and its products.

I think that for reasons of his health, he has realized that he can no longer put all of his energy into micromanaging things, but due to his personality, he cannot stop himself from doing so. Therefore, the only solution is to distance himself from the temptation.

It is not the role of the Chairman of the Board to micromanage. He can still guide Apple, but the day-to-day decisions will now be left to Cook. In the long run, probably not a bad thing, because Jobs has been unable to carry out his duties for some time, and Apple does not need to have a mere figurehead for a CEO. With Jobs' role in limbo, the company was at risk of drifting aimlessly while awaiting further announcements regarding his health.

One of the most sensible posts in this thread.
