Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

As a user of Apple products since 1983, all I can say is . . . wow. Just wow. I am literally floored right now. I have watched (as has so many) Steve bring out innovative product and idea - one after another. Something almost unheard of in any product field. As a designer, I have always admired his taste, his attention to details and how something so simple can also be so beautiful and artistic. He made me love computers. Period.

And after he was fired/quit, I remember walking into a Next computer showroom. It was amazing. It looked like a showroom for a Ferrari dealership. Every little detail was impeccable. I turned to my friend and remember saying "Steve's back!"

We will miss you at the helm Steve. Take care of yourself. Hopefully I will be able to walk into an Apple Store in the near future and still be able to say "Steve's Back" once more.

I love your post. Spot on.

iphone 5 without steve

With Steve Jobs resigning, iphone 5 is rumoured to have Flash, USB port, AND a 3.5" floppy disk.

We all knew this day was coming soon...just didn't think it would be THIS soon. First question is, how is Steve's health? Hopefully it hasn't taken a turn for the worse.

Health: Not good enough to handle the most stressful job as the CEO of a huge company as well as it should be handled. But then there are plenty of people in the world whose health is good enough to let them lead happy lives but not good enough to handle a stressful job like that. I very much hope he is one of them.

I can't say I didn't expect this. So let's just be clear:

Note that I said Germany.

I made no comparison to it's governing institution or philosophical view of said institution.

ROFL.

Do you think we're *that* stupid?

Cut the **** and write a comment that is actually worthy of this news.

There have already been a few members who have used even a thread like this as their hater play-thing. Don't be counted among them.

Thanks Steve

What an amazing visionary! A man that has changed the face of technology on multiple fronts, several times. I agree with previous posts that his influence will not go unfelt as a result of this transition, rather, he will now be more free to oversee and guide Apple without having to deal with the minutae of daily operations. I can only hope he gets to spend more time with his family and begin to enjoy the fruits of all his hard years of work creating the most profitable, enigmatic, and revolutionary technology company in history. Thanks Steve!

 I wish good luck to Steve Jobs and the great leader that he was. May he stay healthy and happy in his future endeavours.

Chairman role

Truly, a sad day. He is a visonary, a real leader, and an inspiring businessman. Unfortunately with a prior diagnosis of pancreatic cancer this was almost inevitable. I'm sorry to say it, but for those holding out hope that his condition isn't too serious because of his Chairman role/continued employment, that's more likely to be due to the tax implications on stock sales/options were he to fully resign from the company and depart the Board.

It's not like he was doing much now!

Guys, keep in mind thy amount of leave he's been on lately! He hasn't exactly been doing much recently, do I don't see any reason there should be dramatic change.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Wow with Steve gone will that mean we will get Flash on iOS devices? Blu-Ray on Mac?

I think he really has to die before that will be allowed.

And then even then, his rath from beyond the grave....its a problem

Why wouldn't Steve/Apple announce this on Friday? Or on Fri before labor day weekend? Or on Sept 11? Weekends/etc would suck some air out of the story and limit stock fluctuations. This is what ALL businesses do.

Is there more acuity to this story? In other words is there something bad and imminent that forced Apple to announce this at an odd time- something that wouldn't allow them to wait for just 2 more weeks?

I can't imagine that anyone making decisions on Apple stock hasn't fully taken into account the probability of Steve Jobs becoming unable to actively resume a traditional CEO position. Nothing in today's announcement is likely to affect rational decision-makers, and emotional individual traders will react just as irrationally regardless of when an announcement is made. Apple has done a fine job of preparing the market for this day, and in a relatively short time the company's stock will once again trade as a function of reasonable expectations about Apple's future earnings stream.

(In any event the timing of these sorts of announcements is not entirely a matter of company discretion. Once the decision has been made to resign and communicated--however informally--to a board member or to another officer of the company, a public announcement on Form 8-K must be filed within four business days. While Jobs could, of course, have deferred his decision, once he shared it with the company the clock started ticking.)

I don't really understand how someone could be surprised by this...

Nonetheless, I am do feel bad for Mr. Jobs. A very good CEO if there ever was one.

Jeeze man if I had known Steve's recent most stevenote would be his last I would've showed up to pay my respects.

It's been good Steve. My personal and professional life runs on your products, and I wouldn't have it any other way. :apple:

Thank you Mr. Jobs. Best to you and your family / friends during your next endeavors... you have been a brilliant CEO, and a great leader. Sincerely thank you for all that you've done [well, honestly, there are a few points of disagreement, but for now,,, overall, thank you sir ].

This has one positive note, the iPhone announcement must be days away, as they're going to have to eclipse this sad news and not let their stock take too much of a plunge! :apple:
