Steve Balmer Steve Jobs Steve Woznak

Did anyone else notice the bold words, they are all called steve?

I think he must be on his last legs now. He must be about to die soon that's why he's made this decision.

lmao he didn't do anything? Go read a book, Apple was a dying company if it wasn't for him coming up with the iPod

He meant he didn't do anything special in stepping down. He's still chairman and an employee.

I'm pretty sure that everyone on this board is well aware of what his accomplishments are.

You guys are freaking out over nothing. The man is not dead.

Also, consider this: If you think he is not going to have his fingers in the pie still, you are delusional. Not while he is alive. You don't go from being QC anal retentive over your personal company and achievement to I don't give a ****. It just is NOT going to happen.

Something else to consider. Mr Jobs has groomed his staff and cultivated the entire Apple movement to reflect his personal beliefs and standards. This is not just going to peter out because he is handing command over to Mr Cook.

Really....

In reality he is still working hard to keep his company competetive, active and innovative by ensuring that someone will keep the horse running (like on the job training) to make sure that it is done right.

His entire staff have taken on his beliefs with the same zeal he has. Yes, there will never be a visionary like him for a long while but as I said, the man is NOT dead and will be having a strong influence on all matters to come while he is still alive.

Peace all.

WW

To everyone saying Steve's health is failing, and that he doesn't have much time left. Seriously, please stop talking... it's blatant stupidity like this that causes bad rumors to circulate. You have no idea what you're talking about. I don't have the answers either, but you certainly don't.

And here's a perfect example as to why you shouldn't make baseless comments. Whether below is true or not, no one can say. But it completely contradicts those statements, and judging by the source... I can assure you this guy probably knows a lot more than any of us.

If it wasn't for the mac

I discovered the Mac Plus in 1984. If it wasn't for this computer I wouldn't have fallen in love with computers at all. I had played with PC's but they were dull.

I would say, if not for the mac, I would never have used a computer.

Steve Jobs is remarkable. I used to get up and watch his keynotes in the middle of the night. I bought Apple shares when they were $15 (since split at least once), just before the iPod.

The most amazing thing about Apple though is they are an original, innovative company. They broke territory. Google are innovative but in the smartphone area they are another Microsoft.

All these patent claims are a mockery to original invention and original inventors and Apple have never been a ripper, but a creator, and that is why they, and Steve Jobs are held in the highest regards.

Love your work, Steve.

May you retirement be joyous and you do something completely insane during it.

Please, do tell me, how are the Mac, iPad and iPhone innovative on a magnitude that surpasses other brands in their fields? Many of the 'innovations' made in Jobs' era are merely unsubstantial marketing names for technologies that have already existed. It's all copying - I'm not saying that copying is bad, but a company that now does all copying when it used to do all the innovation disappoints me.

Though it is sadly unsurprising to read comments such as yours it really does beg the question as to why you would want to bad-mouth such an iconic person.

So widespread has been Steve Jobs influence in our world today that it is difficult to imagine quite how life would have been without him.

Though you obviously refuse to admit it he has been rightfully applauded by millions for creating products that are desirable not only because they have pushed technology forward, but have done so with usabilty and top-notch design as part of it's core ethos.

As countless others do, I thank him and wish him well.

And if you ever achieve even a fraction of what he has done then your life will not have been a waste.

Steve's health may be in a bad state right now, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's going to die. In addition to having a healthy diet, the man has enough money to literally afford the best medical treatment.
...

Enough money to fund all the research, materials & technology to clone a healthy version of himself, if need be! ;)

Errr, yes. I'm sorry to have to break the bad new to you, but Steve Jobs is going to die.

I am going to die, you are going to die, and everyone reading this message is going to die at any time between 1 minute from now, to about 110 (approx) years from now.

Hope that does not come as too much of a shock to you :D

No doubt in my mind he doesn't have long left, days, weeks, months, who knows but he certainly won't be a pick for my 2012 dead pool as sadly I don't think he will last that long.

If he wasn't on his last legs they would have just kept things as they are and have Cook running the company quietly in the background, no need for an announcement like this and 5% stock drop unless the end was near.

Apple would not willingly take a 5% hit on their stock unless it was a terminal situation with Jobs they would have just kept on with his indefinite medical leave but that can't happen when someone is dead so Jobs is about to die sadly IMHO

I agree.

The only people who think this is not a health based decision are in denial or medically ignorant.

Jobs is unfortunately finished. He put in a good fight. 7 years is a good run post pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

I hope his family and Jobs use their limited time together however they want.

I think it's quite sad…
Without Steve we wouldn't be sitting here and enjoying our macs, but typing on windows, which will never achieve the user experience that a mac gives you.

They even had to invent Boot Camp, because Macs are superior hardware :)

Anyway, I wish Steve and his Family all the best, and let's just hope he's not going to die too soon…

:apple::apple::apple: Apple for life :apple::apple::apple:

Steve You Rock

You have added so much good to todays society. You will be missed and in the end you beat the tar out of Bill Gates. You win.

Some people like to gloss over the fact that a man with a family is dying, and that's unfortunate.

Very sad day for sure...

Thank you Steve for a great job.

I'll especially miss your fantastic keynotes, conference calls and various interviews. I am sure you have set up Apple to be successful for at least the next decade!

People really have Steve on a pedestal....

Why are you shocked by this. He came back to apple after being ousted via a powerplay and not only turned it around but made them what they are. It should come no surprise that such a visionary would not attract folks who put him on a pedestal.

Steve jobs made the company.

What other CEO would go against the grain so many ways and be so successful? Steve Jobs had a vision for computers in the future - where everything is simpler, easier to use, and does not need media.

Despite everyone else saying it was too early, and most of the tech world complaining, he bet his company on this future and it has been paying off. He was the first to remove floppy drives, optical drives, did not embrace Blu Ray, fought complex controllers by having only one mouse button, created the proper simpler interface for tablets which propelled the market for tablets, which languished for over 10 years.

Bill Gates had no vision, just a cut-throat mentality for making money. Steve Jobs had a vision, and created this vision. I am glad I lived with him on the Earth - he changed computers.

From this day forward, Steve shall be referred to as Chairman Jobs. Until he resigns again, and decided he should be declared Emperor Jobs. Or does Chancellor come before Emperor? Prime Minister is in there somewhere. I'm confused.

This is sad indeed...but, Apple is a lot more stable and the person taking over has been with the company for a long time.

I disagree, Gates had plenty of vision. If he did not see the future of DOS, he'd not fight to license it to ibm but sell it. In fact he licensed DOS to IBM before he even had DOS (he had to buy QDos). He also understood the future of office (excel + word).

He was cut throat and he failed to execute on a number of fronts, including tablets. He saw the future of tablets years before apple ever did. He just could not come up with a design/OS that would work for the consumer.

Job's Genius is that he sees the need and is able to develop a design that is simple but incredibly functional.

Let's cross our fingers he never becomes Prime Minster Jobs.

Chairman Jobs is just fine...
