Sounds like a certain creative genius is healthy, energetic and as driven as ever.

You now can rise from the altar again, oh brother 🙄

😉

It's kinda clear that books are his priority #1.. Most people outside of the "appstore"/mac-scene associate the iPad with a device to read books.. I don't think most people outiside the mentioned group first impression would be: "wow, it's a great device to play games and do light webbrowsing"...

the problem with educational content is the fact that you can learn a lot better if you have a physical object in your hands instead of staring at a screen, even if you can manipulate the content by adding notes, drawings etc... you simply have an easier "approach" on a real book....

but maybe apple reinvents the way our brain works as well?! 😉🙄

I wonder if they were able to investigate what he had for dinner on those days. Because that would only be slightly less important.

Suggestion #1: Stop using Flash

All these media outlets use Flash for more than video (slideshows, scrolling banners, etc.). So, I have to think someone asked about the lack of Flash making some of their site and content not accessible.

To which Steve must have said, "Yeah, you should stop using Flash. Moving on ..."

Reasons for iPad ultimate success -

Content is the most important from now on. After all it is about stress free content consumption which drove the iPad design in the first place. Steve is visiting right places so far.

Can Apple save newspapers and magazines from oblivion? A lot of newspapers certainly need the help. It remains to be seen if the iPad can ride to their rescue.

Some magazines are faltering but there are sure a lot of them when I go to a magazine stand. Perhaps newsmagazines are the ones in trouble while hobby and leisure magazines are holding their own.

If Steve Jobs gets the National Enquirer onboard will we see iPads with preloaded gossip stories in a rack at the supermarket checkout line?

Which would make sense, since the media outlets could then stop paying for Adobe licenses, which shaves off a little overhead cost.

And you can bet that by the end of these meetings, they will be reworking their websites without the use of "flash"!

My problem with magazines on the iPad is simply, how does digital distribution overcome the thing that's killed magazines in the first place? Specifically, by the time you assemble a magazine's worth of content, its already out of date. And if you're going to have live updates, then isn't this just a web site that you pay for by the unit?

The proper place for magazines is to be able to tell more in-depth, in detail and compelling stories rather than just trying to be a quick hit news source.

There is a lot of room for well-built, well research and well told stories about all kinds of subject that would be perfect for a weekly or monthly kind of periodical.

Take this all of you and feed your content to it....

Something oddly Last Supperish about this.

The Techno Messiah saying he will bring forth a device that will provide print media with a path to salvation.🙂

I think if they can get magazines on the iPad..then Apple will have a winner in the living rooms.

Benevolent Dictator 🙂

Jobs, who sat at the head of the "intimate, family-style gathering"

Gotta love him!

I can't wait for the iPad either, but I'm glad that I have 50 more days to convince my wife that I need one 😀

Old news?

I am happy to hear that Steve is healthy, traveling and very actively engaged with the company again....but I'm not sure this involvement with the NY Times is front page news anymore.

Who really cares, this is a no brainer. Paper is dead, of course major news papers are gonna jump on the bandwagon.

I think I would have goosebumps if I were to sit in on one of those meetings. It's cool to see (rumored, at least) that Jobs' is taking this iPad very seriously and doesn't expect everyone to 'get it' immediately.

Steve has seen the EOL light at the end of the tunnel on both health and criminal risks, and has chosen to divert that energy to making a real difference to real problems.

Thank you Steve.

Rocketman

The SEC almost killed the iPad.
