If (when) anything happens to Steve, I will be deeply impacted, and I never even met the man.

Some people just mean that much to the world.

Best wishes, Steve.

I lost my mum last year to Cancer and it was hard enough watching her degenerate the way she did. (It took only 3 months before diagnosis until she died, before that we simply didn't know she had it.)

The media should leave the poor fellow alone. I think its very distasteful that someone would photograph any person in such a situation for a quick Buck.

I wish him and anyone suffering the way he must be all the best.

A close friend was recently diagnosed and died from it

A few years ago my friend had the same type of cancer that Steve had and he beat it and it went into remission. Just in October his pancreatic cancer came back and Doctors stated that he would survive for another 3-6 months. My friend, Norm, died 3 weeks later. It was a sudden loss and he did not tell us about the illness until his wife broke the news to us.

My friend Norm, was an editor of a small town paper that he created and published weekly. The paper was highly popular for the town he lived in and was a great success story for him. The day before his death, he announced that he was no longer going to publish his paper because the economy was down. The truth was later revealed that he knew his impending death was very near and that he wanted to finish what he created.

When you lose a close friend, you often think long and hard about what they contributed and what they accomplished. My friend always had a smile on his face and always worked harder to make others happier. Steve Jobs is like my friend in that they will be sorely missed.

Looking at these pictures of Steve, I don't know how doctored they are, or if they are real, but one thing is for certain, we need to give him privacy through a difficult time. Steve has a family, he needs to spend time with his wife and children and let them know that he loves them. I fear that his end is rapidly approaching us and I hope that he will go out in peace and that his family and friends will remember the best of times with him. He is a young person still and yet he is a genius that has changed the way we live our daily life.

I am someone that is going to be deeply saddened if Jobs passes, but in some respects I think he sort of brought these pictures on himself. It even pains me to say that. I think the reason this has made the news is the public had absolutely no idea why he left. If he had come out and simply said something to the effect my cancer has returned, and I want this time with my family then I think there would have been more "respect" for his privacy. A lot of "celebrities" have battled cancer, and they have been upfront about it...and the reporters have respected their privacy.

But you know what would be really scummy about this whole Enquirer ********? Is if these are old pictures from last year when Steve was having his liver transplant. I bet no one even bothered to question whether these pictures are new or not. Because if Steve was just spotted at Apple campus looking lively, and also speaking at the press release a few days ago, I gotta question these pictures. And obviously coming from the Enquirer, they are the definition of untrustworthy

The Enquirer is not the Weekly World News. They would not post pictures from last year. I am not saying they are the most reliable, but they have broken a lot of stories lately i.e. John Edwards Love Child..and have been right. They have gotten sued enough that they double check their sources.

Could just be getting a check-up from the pros.

Cancer is one of the most terrible things a person and his/her family have to go through.

Regardless on your thoughts about his business practices, let's all just show some love and hope that he recovers quickly.

Remember, this is the National Enquirer we're talking about. Bogus headlines and stories to grab people's attention.

The doctor saying he has 6 weeks to live said it purely based on his appearance too.

I wouldn't put much faith in anything the Enquirer printed. They shouldn't even be allowed to publish the BS that they do. Most of the times it's an outright fabrication. Like a reputable MD is going to state how long Steve has left by looking at a picture. Pure BS.

We will probably never get to witness a CEO like Steve. Such a success story.

Please get better so you can continue living your dream

There have been many such CEO's and people in many walks of life.

You can't just buy a liver in the US if you're too sick to receive one. The super-rich can game the system by simultaneously getting on waiting lists all around the country, but at the end of the day there are objective criteria that determine who gets each liver that comes available. If somebody fudged those criteria on behalf of Jobs, then he or she will go to prison. It would be insanely risky for anybody in Tennessee to cheat the system so blatantly in such a high profile case. They do not put livers in patients who are currently riddled with cancer.

Don't be so naive.

Steve if you are reading go to Houston's Cancer center!

I'm sure he's reading this forum and will follow it for medical advice.

Not if Steve makes a very public handing-over of the company to someone he trusts – someone with the same vision as him who can demonstrate that vision while Steve is still around.

Besides ... he's not dead yet! :)
Or they could replace him with a giant Steve Jobs 8-ball and make strategic decisions based on the ball's musings, e.g. "Don't hold it like that", "Blu-ray is still a bag of hurt", "OMG it's so thin, look how thin it is", "Microsoft has no taste"...

Its an unfortunate situation that Steve Jobs is currently in and I wish him the best, but I think he fully deserves his privacy right now and I will be sadden if the purported photo(s) of Steve Jobs gets published in the next issue of The National Enquirer.

I understand he is a High Profile person, but sometimes boundaries need to be set.

I believe general public is unfortunately more interested about pictures of man suffering then factual information. I fully do agree that public persons need certain amount of privacy and pictures without journalistically high profile article are either meaningless, misleading or in some cases even offending. That said, the factual information should be released by relevant parties themselves and not by third party which doesn't hold any reliable information in the first place.

If Steve is indeed meeting Obama tomorrow, then there is no way there won't be some kind of photograph taken at the event showing the President and one of the innovative minds in technology side by side.

On the other hand, we really have no right to clamour for photos of Steve to slave over and diagnose via our monitors. The man deserves privacy, but the media love a story and this celebrity obsessed world will demand to know. Sad.

I see nothing grave in these pictures. Steve is not particularly young and quite thin, but they prove nothing.

Steve Jobs with only 6 weeks left to live?

http://m.gizmodo.com/5762521/steve-jobs-has-weeks-to-live-says-the-national-enquirer

Not that I really believe the National Enquirer but the story got me thinking. Its kind of crazy to think of the world without an absolute stud like Steve Jobs. Ever since I saw his 2005 Stanford speech I fell in love with the guy and all he has accomplished from scratch. The man is the absolute face of the franchise and I can't really imagine Apple really having the same charm with any of their keynotes without Mr. Turtleneck and Jeans to give it.

Its probably just a fake story but sooner or later the time comes for everybody. If it was true though how would you guys react if Steve Jobs only had 6 weeks left to live? :(

It's really sad to see the tech blogs that I follow daily reporting news about Steve Jobs using The National Enquirer as a source. I really thought you would have more respect for Steve Jobs than this. Shame on you MacRumors and 9to5 Mac!

The fact that Gizmodo would publish this goes to show how disgusting they are as a 'news' source. Why would anyone speculate on this? It's a terrible topic of discussion.

It's better to belive in God and think about GOOD. I pray for him!

Obviously I hope the story is as baseless as it seems. I just wish SJ the best whatever his medical condition actually is. As for his position in Apple - which is not how one should define a person - I hope that when SJ retires that Apple finds an equally creative maverick to lead the company.

These "Doctors" claim he has only 6 weeks to live by looking at a couple of photos of a man which may or may not be Steve Jobs? They have never seen him, examined him or looked at any sort of his medical records yet they can condemn him to 6 weeks left of life. Pathetic.

Obviously I know Steve isn't in the best of health and I am not making light of his situation but I would take this story with a pinch of salt. Photos and stories like these certainly don't help. I do wish Steve and his family the very best as I am sure everyone does. I wouldn't wish what he has been through the last few years on everyone. Truly terrible :(

I sure hope that the amount of truth in this story is on par with other stories that are run in The National Enquirer. Translation: no truth to it at all.

If there were real photos I imagine they would appear in a credible publication.

Either way, get well soon Steve.
