As expected, today's "Yawn Fest" at Yerba Buena in the city had no news about Apple computers, and no news about finally supporting BD in Apple OSX (or official support for any 1080p source in any Apple).

Back to the persistent endless pointless whining....

There wasn't supposed to be any OS X or Mac news at this conference. September is always iPods/iTunes.

How about getting the hardware out the door the day of the presentation?

It's something Apple is lacking lately. I had my money ready today. Now I'll just wait for it to hit Amazon or refurbished. Thanks Apple.

iTunes 10 is cutting it close.

you mean cutting it close as in iTunes 10 is a turn off? or a turn on? i sure hope it doesnt go liek QTx!

the new :apple:TV is nice, and now supports 14mbit playback bitrates (h264 3.1), so its better then the previous 5mbit limit that the crappy pentium chip had! ill get one, ONLY becuase they are so cheap and manage media very well :)

iTunes 10 isn't out yet. It's getting annoying. I don't do the video hoarding nonsense. It's disposable to me now.

I haven't had to deal with multiple install discs in ages. I've been buying too many Steam games on sale.

I've seen many reports that Itunes is a bloated pig - but does it really require multiple DVDs for the kit?

I tried Itunes a few years ago when I needed an Ipod Touch for a demo at work - but I was lucky and the Touch was stolen, so I deleted the VM that I installed Itunes on. (And Apple folks sometimes claim that you can't "drag and drop" into the trash to uninstall an app on Windows - putting the VM with Itunes into the recycle bin (and then flushing) worked fine for me. ;) )

Well you'll be disappointed as most jukebox softwares seem to want to copy iTunes.

Though oddly enough some of the most prominent players trying not to be itunes-esque need a lesson in the usability department.

The iPods aren't out because the Back to School deal goes on till the 7th.

So, we won't know how serious a fail this is for Apple for another week?

Somehow I predict Apple's best holiday season ever.;) You can quote me on that.

Of course, even if that happens you'll just discredit it as the result of fanboys or a mindless public. It couldn't POSSIBLY be that Apple simply knows how to make devices that fly off the shelves.

Of Course - you're wrong! ;)

Apple couldn't POSSIBLY have devices that 'fly' off the shelves - Apple don't have/support Blue Rat (or some older geek technology like that?)

120 million devices - piffle - just ask Mr. Ballmer, he knows what he's doin' !

The only thing that really keeps me in iTunes nowadays is the years of metadata I've built up in it. I can say the same for OS X.

They've released new models before. The fine print has been smart enough to limit you to the older models. I'll be out of country and there's no way I'm paying for Apple hardware outside of the US.

Eh, just use tuneup. ^_^
