"Liar Liar, pants on fire" ought to be the topic of this thread.

He "just discovered" that it's more complex... yah RIGHT. Why just last week it was a simple "hormone" problem.

I am completely vindicated in my earlier suspicion that there is no way that would be the case and that medical science today would not have let such an issue fester for over a year in someone with SJ's cash.

There better be a full investigation into who knew what and when, as fraud has been perpetrated on Apple shareholders. Bring it on, but I stand by those words until proven otherwise.

As the "who cares about the stock" crowd - YOU better care. I care because it's my money, and if you like apple products you better hope they don't lose significant market capitalization right before the worse recession in modern history.

I despise dishonest businessmen and dishonest politicians, and this has the smell of exactly that.

So him finding out it's worse than he thought is lying? I can't believe you have the gall to call him a liar when he's in his current position.

Hey Don't worry about it! Just remember for that person and all the other negative posters, What goes around comes around! Funny thing is, they will be asking themselves why is this happening to me and not remember how cruel, negative and down right ignorant they were in the past! :(

Wow, I never realized how sorry some of you guys are. Steve Jobs is ill yet all you guys want to think about is Apple stocks!? I forgot investors tend to be soulless.

Yep, just typical in today's times. For many their only priority is money! Wonder how they will get by when the world's economy soon will take a great big dump?

Why did God do this to him in the first place? If God's going to look after him now, wouldn't it have made more sense to just keep him healthy and have done with it?

God didn't do anything to him. It's best not to say anything if you don't understand certain topics...

Anyways, I wish you well Steve and a speedy recovery!
Also, I like how everyone is worried about the Apple stock rather than his health. Gotta love humans!

Get well soon Steve Jobs.

Steve Jobs has done an amazing job of turning around Apple. The Macs are selling faster than they did ever before. The iphone is the best gadget. The ipod /touch is the best ipod ever.

Right now, Apple has more than enough momentum (with Steve Jobs influence) to weather the storm without Steve. Apple is full of great engineers and successful marketers. They will do well.

Just wondering--I'm not a doctor but maybe some doctors here can answer:

Do doctors ever find out new information that they didn't know before? Or do they know everything immediately?

Also:

Do patients' conditions ever change, or do they remain in the same state forever?

What I'm wondering is: could doctors this week have given Steve Jobs news that he didn't have last week? Or did they give him a full and certain prediction of the future a year ago?

Thanks in advance.

Won't be back until June eh?

Could we see a last "...one more thing."?

If you're leavin' Stevo, go out with a bang!

Best Wishes, Hope he gets well soon. Hang in there buddy! :)

Here's what I think really happened:

Steve died a few months ago, and now they're cloning him, and it's going to take longer than originally planned to grow the new clone back to his original age.

My thoughts exactly, and to those who think they are humorous: this is not a time for levity when the mans health is in question and his family and those who are close to him are in - to say the least - a somber and despondent mood. Be human for a while, will you!

Beginning of the end.

Sad that it should hit when his work finally paid off. Under Jobs, Apple became #1 in music sales, portable music players, video editing, laptop sales and their OS is the most advanced on the market.
Why is that sad? Most people should be so lucky as to see years of effort and focus come to such fruition. What about all those brilliant inventors of the past who never saw their inventions used? Or authors who never finish their epic novel (Robert Jordan)?

Besides, a lot of people are shoveling the dirt in his grave already when we have no idea what it means. Maybe his doctors just told him he needs to lay off work for a while and rest up.

For two years people have been stating he is getting worse and it would take a blind person not to see that.
Believers: "Oh, he is fine he is just a little thin no biggy"

"Steve Jobs cannot make it to Macworld because of health issues"
Believers: "Oh, he is fine I am sure it is nothing"

"Steve Jobs takes a medical leave of absence"
Believers:"Seriously I do not get what the big deal is he is OK"

Then once Steve Jobs drops
Believers:"He is alive just like Elvis"

Seriously, he is a man not a god. I hope he gets well but understand he may not. :(

Why did you have to bring that in?

Come on...and Steve is a saint to the Apple community. He saved the company and turned it around and brought out some amazing products.

Because he's just a human being, like you and I. And if the whole of Apple (or any company) depends on the well being on just one individual then there's something wrong. I don't want to go into lengthy discussions over this but my wife barely survived breast cancer in 2004 and that concerns me more. But when it is STEVE, all we read is "OMG, OMG, OMG". Sorry for the rant but keep it all in proportion please. Every day, hundreds of thousands of children die of starvation but they are not noticed.

God didn't do anything to him. It's best not to say anything if you don't understand certain topics...

Like why people get cancer (if indeed Steve has cancer)? I'm a cancer biologist (radiation oncology).

Why pray, when we could be sacrificing goats for Steve? People are always so quick to lend their "prayers" to someone, and give their money to religious organizations, instead of actually doing something that will really help.

To those that say Steve J lied .... if he did then he would be putting Apple in SERIOUS risk ... much more than just his current health state...

Its a publicly traded company .... the SEC could investigate stock manipulation, the shareholders could sue .... its serious stuff....

I think a lot of people are showing their true colours in the wake of this latest develoment .... some of the comments on this thread are pretty low blows

Actually, you're right about that.

But it also speaks volumes how dishonest [I guess 'shady' is the word to use here, as not to upset any fan boys here] Apple is as a company, that it's willing to -- because it NEEDS TO -- deny negative Jobs' health news, to keep the company's stability/profits from going anywhere but UP.

Yeah, he's a brilliant man, but he's still only human.

If you think Steve is the end-all and be-all of Apple, you've brought yourself into a self-created delusion, because there will a day where life must go on after Steve. I hope it's decades from now... but keep it real and remember he's a mere mortal.

Not necessarily. I have seen may friends go through pretty serious hormone issues. At times they can be quite mysterious. It can take many months, even years to determine exact causes and remedies. For certain the dietary changes, which go along with testing and medication, require rigorous discipline, time and effort to implement.

I am pretty sure we have not yet seen the last of Steve. I know many people, some who have been very ill, whom have gone 'into the cave' for six months to a year, only to reemerge stronger and more vibrant.

I remain positive.

I'm with you on this one.

My prayers are with you Steve. Get well soon.

Agreed, completely off topic but weren't scientists able to cure cancer in rats using stem cells recently?

I am so buying if this goes under $70.

take the number 70 and divide it in half, thats what the stock will bottom out at. glad i sold out at $155 a year and a half ago.

I know many of you would say "insensitive bastard" but let me ask you this. Would Steve be sending out prayers if it was someone else or would he be thinking about his stock price?

At the same time, millions of people look far WORSE every day and end up just fine. Go to your local hospital and you'll see a lot worse symptoms than gradual weight loss!

The evidence we have is really very minimimal. It tells is next to nothing in either direction. We can only hope for the best. (For Steve, not for Apple--Apple is not in danger here.)

see, thats sensible, fanbois

Yes patients with pancreatic cancer do have changes in their condition - it's called metastasis and progression. The changes we've seen in SJ over the last year are entirely consistent with that and given the extremely high death rate from pancreatic cancer it is orders of magnitude more likely that such is the case and has been known about rather than some mysterious illness that the best doctors in the world couldn't figure out and then a week after his initial "hormone" revelation (right before macworld) he then suddenly learns something else unusual.

Keep in mind, there is NO WAY that a recurrence/metastasis would be found this week if it wasn't there before the pre-macworld announcement.

It's simple logic, and it's as plain as day to anyone not drinking the SJ coolaid.
