Hmm I wonder how much the stock price will dip tomorrow. I checked the German stock market and it already dipped ~ 6%!!

Sadly, this announcements timing is quite telling.

There is no way Apple would have issued this, just one day before their financial report if they had a choice.

Needless to say this suggests both urgency & gravity.
I'm not so sure about that. As I recall, the first time they went through this, there was some concern that Apple might've engaged in securities fraud by not disclosing this type of information in a timely manner, so the timing is probably a reflection of excess caution rather than excess desperation.

I personally think that the writing is on the wall ,i wish him only to get well ,and pray for him ,i enjoyed the Apple products since the days of the Mac Powerbook first one the wall street edition ,so long time Apple fan ,but the prognosis look more than grimm ,just remember Patrick Swayzee ,after he lost all that weight how long he could survive ,the prognosis doesn"t look good just by looking at him ,and no i am not a doctor just what i read on the internet about the chances of survival with that type of cancer ,nasty disease ,even with all the money in the world not much can be done ,only lots of prayer and a miracle .

Hold your horses. You can't just jump to conclusions like that; information regarding Jobs' health have not be released.

That person would be Steve Jobs

I mean the unknown source who leaked the details. (look at the update on the article)

This is bad news guys. Anyone who has had a liver transplant can have numerous complications, and his prior medical history is filled with issues that can cause major complications. Even without complications like his, people with liver transplants can have life-threatening complications. Usually about 30% of transplant recipients die within the first 2-3 years and the 15 year survival rate is only about 50%. Keep in mind pretty much all recipients are on immnosupressent drugs and these, as designed, decrease the response of the immune system, elevating the chance of acquiring disease, especially infectious diseases. Sometimes, diseases which would have minimal complications for a healthy person without a transplant can be fatal to an unhealthy person with certain organ transplants. Unfortunately, with his past, his current size decrease, and certain physical aging which is readily apparent, he's in big trouble.

I haven't always liked the man's attitude, but that is at a professional level. I wish him the best personally and health wise and I hope I am wrong about it being liver transplant complications.

The writing may be on your personal wall... but you really should take ownership of your own last rights instead of admonishing is as the view of people in general...
It's unfortunate that this kind of stuff is being written for someone whom is not on a death bed... very unfortunate... it's the wrong kind of sympathy.

anyone think he will come back eventually?

how old is he?

You don't want to know the answer to that, especially if it is liver-related. He's mid 50s, but people with the issues he has had (and haves) physically age faster.

Excuse me Doctor, but I think by "haves" you meant "has"

what if?!!!

for the upcoming ipad 2 media event. where they are sure to demonstrate fecetime for ipad. it is demonstrated where they call steve jobs at his house, or hospital or wherever he is.

what truth is that?

Come on.

Judging by the previous posts, Jobs is the One True Savior and we are blessed to be alive in the time of living God who changes the world with his shiny widgets and gadgets.

:p ;) :D

Just needling some people who refuse to acknowledge Jobs' contributions. I think there are some psychological issues involved. Its irrational.

Oh for the love of humanity.

They had several TV's (black and white) which were 9" and smaller. And here's something crazy to go google - they worked both at home and via the car adapter. CRAZY huh?

And phone calls across the US weren't only for the rich.

Let's not talk in hyperbole about technology then and technology now. Apple has been, is and will continue to be in the history books. No need to rewrite them

I saw those TVs. If you didn't live in an urban area you were lucky to get a signal. You couldn't stream netflix either.
