Sigh....

even though I do think steve jobs has done many things... i fail to see any credit given to steve wozniak

If you shorted it at the market open ( it opened at around 328 ), you will be losing money now. I am glad you did not. If you are bullish about Apple for the medium term, then the right thing to do would be to buy at the open.

Wozniak got plenty of credit when he was relevant. He hasn't been involved in Apple for many years. He did nothing to help turn Apple around.

Like most engineers, Woz got his compensation package early. It takes a different skillset to grow a company as opposed to founding it. Woz gets appropriate credit for his contributions IMHO. He's done very little to grow the Apple brand since its earliest years.

And if you believe the various articles and interviews, Woz wanted to see more Apple employees sharing in the early success of the brand. Steve wanted to retain more of the credit, and associated money, for himself. That was one reason why Woz left Apple as a leader in the first place, after either giving away or providing 1/3 of his founders stock to other employees that Steve shafted. Go Google "The Woz Plan" for more information if you are curious.

Steve was never the one with the big heart. Just the bigger wallet and personal ambitions. Nothing wrong with that really...although it is quite telling which man is more genuine. Again, IMHO only.

Wozniak got plenty of credit when he was relevant. He hasn't been involved in Apple for many years. He did nothing to help turn Apple around.

While I would agree his contributions since the late 80's have been virtually zero, he does remain affiliated with Apple. In fact, he's still on their payroll to this day.

In Apple circles, Woz is God. In the beginning there was Woz,... ;)

Anyway, Woz's girlfriend at the time just a few years ago, Kathy Griffin joked that she had a billion reasons to go out with Woz while being on Larry King. I don't think Woz came out of this whole thing a poor man.

And not just money, but Newsweek regarded him as one of the great inventors and put his invention as the personal computer (so eat that PC people). I say this is pretty good recognition being that many people contributed to the early personal computer. That being said, the Star computer, a bay area competitor, were able to produce a personal computer that weighed a few hundred pounds and was a mere $16,000 dollars (a bargain compared to similarly capable super computer the size of a small room costing far more). It came out before the Apple but the context of Apple, and the price points they were hitting, put Apple on the map forever.

In the rush to come up with the first personal computer (baseball analogy here), other makers were hitting bunts and singles while Woz came up to bat and hit a grand slam. There was no precedent for what Woz created on both the inside and outside of the machine.

Good! I'm glad he's sick I hope he suffers a long painfull death. Hey Stevie if you're reading this Rott in hell you POS.

I can't say anything precisely, with any real certainty, about the future of him without reviewing relevant medical information, but I will tell you something about people with lifelong illnesses that greatly decrease lifespan, which is his case and I have studied this intensely.

If you are passionate about something to the degree that he is, you go out of your way to plan ahead for the future as you already know your time is limited. Part of the dying process, which usually occurs over a period of years, is the idea that you want to have significance beyond the individual level and that you want 'leave' something behind to better society. What you leave behind to better society varies as much as life itself and it can be virtually anything that you believe in. The man believes in his work and his company and Apple is his 'baby'. He's shown passion about his 'baby' on numerous occasions, and he only wants the best in regards to the 'baby's' future.

Even if he can never return to his position, I guarantee you he has already made provisions to maximize the future of the company he cares so much about.

Sorry to hear the news of Steve's incapacitation, the fact he is remaining as CEO is hopefully a sign that he is not at deaths door but is merely getting lots of rest having over done it a bit since the liver op.

Steve Jobs is the greatest visionary of our times, in centuries time there will probably be 3 businessmen remembered, Walt Disney, Henry Ford and Steve Jobs out of everyone alive now or who has died over the decades, Jobs has the charisma and the ability to reach out to people that only one man has ever had, Jesus, given Jobs' father was syrian it would not surprise me if Jobs is somehow related to Jesus

Steve Jobs will be a footnote

Nope. Move Steve Jobs to a footnote, and put Bill Gates in the top 3.

We should really think of the top 10, and I'd nominate Ken Olsen, Thomas Watson, and Robert Noyce for some of the slots.

Steve Jobs stood "on the shoulders of giants" - don't lose sight of that. Recognize the giants that created the environment in which Apple Computer was launched.

Okay... so I'm not agreeing with the statement to which you have responded, but your representation of Steve Jobs as a footnote in this context seems radically off, especially while at the same time acknowledging Bill Gates as a top three. Steve Jobs' impact is all the more considerable if you consider it from the perspective of the general population, most of whom have been impacted in meaningful ways by his company's products and endeavors.

Apple Computers is one of the players who built that environment into what it is today—if not the most influential player altogether (hard to decide between them and Microsoft on this one—both played their own roles).

My husband who is a stock broker came home Friday night and said jokingly that he should have told all of his customers that have AAPL to sell. The reason was because one of his clients (a retired broker that he manages an account for) called him a wanted to buy AAPL. He said this guy has the worst luck and when he buys a lot of expensive stock, it is a bad omen for that company.

What a vivid imagination you have kid.
Was that in technicolor... Got some mood music in that for good measure...
All geared up for your pre-service speeches...
Jesus wasn't 5'9 blonde hair blue eyes either... That's how Da Vinci depicted him at the time based on how he had been written about in the bible which everyone in Europe took as truth...
More likely he was 5'2, olive skin, brown eyes, scruffy brown hair and fuzzy unshaven bearded, n bare foot.
